Liverpool have been linked with the move for the Barcelona winger Raphina in recent weeks.

There have been rumours that Luis Diaz could be used in a swap deal to sign the formal Leeds United winger. A report from Football Insider has now claimed that Liverpool have no plans to sanction the departure of the Colombian international.

Diaz has established himself as an indispensable asset for Liverpool since joining the club from Porto and it would have been quite surprising if they decided to let him leave the club.

Liverpool have two specialist wingers at their disposal – Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah. They need to start looking for replacements for the Egyptian international in case he decides to move on at the end of the season.

Salah was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer and the Saudi Arabian clubs are expected to return for him at the end of the season. Liverpool cannot afford to lose two key players in the same window and therefore a departure for Diaz is definitely out of the question.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to sign Raphina as a replacement for Mohamed Salah in the coming months. The Brazilian has shown his quality in the Premier League in the past, but matching the goalscoring output of Salah will not be an easy task.

As far as Diaz is concerned, he is a key player for your club and Liverpool will look to hold onto him for the foreseeable future.

Liverpool are keen on reinforcing the right wing in the near future.

The Merseyside club are interested in the services of Raphinha and according to a report by Fichajes, they could use Luis Diaz in the deal.

Raphinha has been doing a great job since making the move from the Premier League to Barcelona in the summer of 2022. He was become one of the favourites of Xavi Hernandez. And, his impressive performances have attracted attention.

Liverpool have been monitoring him for a while now and are interested in signing him with a view for the next season. The Reds are looking to prepare for life without Mohamed Salah as the 31-year-old has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia for a while now.

His departure will leave a huge void that they want to fill by signing Raphinha. Meanwhile, Barcelona are in need of funds to sign possible reinforcement and the Brazil international has been linked with a move away from the club despite being liked by Xavi.

Liverpool have flown out Luis Diaz’s family to the UK so they can spend Christmas with their son. 

The Diaz family had a difficult last few weeks after the Colombian star’s mother and father were kidnapped by ELN in their home town.

While the mother was released by the kidnappers immediately after, it was the father who stayed captive for almost two weeks before he was ultimately released in a handover close to the Venezuelan border.

Diaz stayed at Liverpool during this whole ordeal and even scored an important equaliser against Luton before revealing a message for his father on his undershirt.

The international break saw an emotional reunion between Diaz, his mother and his father as the Liverpool star met with his family for the first time since the incident.

Diaz then went on to score a brilliant brace against Brazil to help Colombia win 2-1 with his father watching from the stands.

And Liverpool have now made a great gesture by flying out the entire Diaz family to UK so the player and his family can spend good time together following the whole ordeal.

And as per an update from Daily Mail, the jet landed at the Liverpool John Lennon airport on Saturday morning. The player will join his family once he returns from international duty with Colombia’s next game against Paraguay on Tuesday.

It’s a truly heartwarming gesture from the Merseyside club as they go out of their way to help the player recover mentally from the traumatic incident.

Liverpool’s next game is against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, which is expected to be a thrilling encounter between the sides who have produced some great matches in recent years.

The father of Liverpool star Luis Diaz has admitted that his son’s dream is to play for Barcelona in the future and has thanked both Liverpool and Porto for how they have treated him. 

The Diaz family have been through a lot recently following the kidnapping of both the footballer’s parents and they experienced a beautiful moment this week as the winger scored a brace to help Colombia beat Brazil in front of his family.

At club level, Diaz has been a key player for Liverpool ever since he joined the Premier League club from Porto back in January 2022.

The 26-year-old is a mainstay on the left wing for Jurgen Klopp and has played 61 matches for the Reds so far. The Colombian has a contract at Anfield until 2027 but how much longer will he be in England as the winger dreams of Barcelona?

Speaking about his son to Win Sports, Luis Diaz’s father has said: “It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there.

“So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him. Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God.

“There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world.”

One day Diaz can hopefully realise his dream and put on a Barcelona shirt but in the near future, that will not happen.

The Catalan club currently have severe financial issues and Liverpool would not give up a player of Diaz’s importance without a large transfer fee in return.

Liverpool star Luis Diaz has reunited with his father and family in Colombia for the first time since his parent were kidnapped last month. 

On 28 October, the footballer’s parents were captured in the Northern Colombian town of Barrancas by armed men on motorcycles at a gas station.

Diaz’s mother was found shortly after the incident occurred but his father remained on the missing list for almost two weeks.

Last Thursday, he was released and handed over to the Catholic church before returning to his family.

Diaz has returned to Colombia this week for the international break and reunited with his family and emotional father for the first time since their nightmare came to a joyful end last week.

The best news on Thursday in the world of football was undoubtedly the safe return of Luis Manuel Diaz, father of the Liverpool ace, who had been kidnapped 12 days ago.

It would seem that such kidnappings are commonplace in Colombia where Luis Diaz’s parents still live, and that’s clearly a problem for the country.

So much so, that one of Colombia’s all-time footballing icons, James Rodriguez, has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to plead that more hostages are released.

‘Luis Manuel Díaz was finally released…We continue to ask for the immediate release of the rest of those kidnapped in Colombia,’ his message said.

It’s to Luis Diaz’s great credit that he was still able to remain focused enough to play for Liverpool against Toulouse, a game that they ultimately lost 3-2 after having a 99th minute equaliser ruled out by VAR.

Being so far away from his parents and have them going through such an ordeal – his mother was released shortly after kidnap – has to have affected the player’s ability to perform at the highest level.

Liverpool had left any decision on whether he should play or not to the player himself, clearly understanding the gravitas of the situation and the mental anguish that Luis Diaz would be going through until the good news finally filtered through.

Liverpool travel to Toulouse for matchday four of their Europa League campaign on Thursday knowing that a win will send the Premier League side through to the next round of the competition.

Luis Diaz‘s father has finally been released following his kidnapping by a Colombian guerrilla group almost two weeks ago. 

On 28 October, the Liverpool star’s parents were captured in Northern Colombia, which prompted the 26-year-old to miss the Reds’ games with Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth before returning to action against Luton Town on Sunday.

The footballer’s mother was found shortly after the incident occurred but his father remained on the missing list having both been taken by armed men on motorcycles at a gas station in the small town of Barrancas.

The group that took Diaz Snr, ELN, stated last week that they would release the footballer’s father but they took their time about doing so.

According to reports in Colombia from outlets such as Semana, Diaz’s father has been released and was handed over to the Catholic church before returning to his family.

The sight of Luis Diaz scoring a goal at Luton to earn a point and then lift his shirt with a message for his kidnapped father will live long in the memory of Liverpool fans.

One can’t even begin to imagine the pain that the Colombian and his family must be feeling at this point, given that his dad remains at the hands of his kidnappers.

His mother, thankfully, has already been released, though it appears it is taking some tough negotiations to prise Diaz’s father from the National Liberation Army of Colombia (ELN).

However, it seems that the hostage situation could soon be at an end if recent reports are to be believed.

‘With this military manoeuvre, all the guarantees and conditions are being provided so that he can regain his freedom in the next few hours,’ a statement from the Colombian military read on X (h/t Liverpool ECHO).

‘From the first moment of his kidnapping to date, the ELN is solely responsible for the physical integrity of Mr. Luis Manuel. The mission of the Colombia military has always been to protect the life and freedom of Luis Diaz’s father and all Colombians.’

Until Luis Manuel Diaz is in the hands of the authorities, anything could still happen of course, though it would appear from the strength of the words released, that the military are trying to do everything possible to release him unharmed.

Considering the mental anguish that the player must be under, it’s incredible how he’s managed to put that to one side in order to focus on the job in hand.

With other important games upcoming for the Reds, the sooner that Luis Diaz is able to have his mind put at rest thanks to the release of his father, the better.

ELN release a statement regarding the father of Luis Diaz

The commander of ELN, Jose Manuel Martinez Quiroz, has signed off on a statement addressing the release of Diaz’s father. It said that they will release the man but want to avoid incidents with government forces.

The statement read via The Athletic: “On November 2, we informed the country of the decision to release Luis Manuel Díaz. From that date, we began the process to accomplish this as soon as possible. We are making efforts to avoid incidents with government forces.

“The area is still militarised. They are carrying out flyovers, disembarking troops, broadcasting and offering rewards as part of an intense search operation. This situation is not allowing for the execution of the release plan quickly and safely, where Luis Manuel Diaz is not at risk.

“If operations continue in the area, they will delay the release and increase the risks. We understand the anguish of the Diaz Marulanda family, to whom we say that we will keep our word to release him unilaterally, as soon as we have security guarantees for the development of the liberation operation.”
