Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.

A report from 90 Min claims that Chelsea have been keeping tabs on the player for a while and they are now preparing a potential move for him in the coming months. The 22-year-old defender has established himself as a key player for Wolves since joining them for a fee of around £10 million.

Chelsea are looking to add more depth to the left-back department and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for them. The Blues could cash in on Ian Maatsen in the coming months and Marc Cucurella has been quite underwhelming with his performances. Signing a left-back could prove to be a wise decision and Rayan Ait-Nouri could compete with Ben Chilwell for the starting spot.

The 22-year-old is now a seasoned Premier League defender, and he should be able to make an immediate impact if he moves to Stamford Bridge.

The opportunity to join Chelsea will be an attractive option for the player as well. It would be a step up in his career and he would get to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country.

Although Chelsea have not been at their best since last season, they are used to competing for major trophies and they have the resources to get back to the top of English football once again.

Liverpool have reportedly shown some interest in the potential transfer of Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, though a deal is not expected to happen this January.

That’s according to French outlet Le 10 Sport, who are not yet clear on how strong Liverpool’s interest in Ait-Nouri is, with no clear indication yet on whether or not they’ve made contact over the 22-year-old.

Ait-Nouri has impressed during his time at Wolves and looks like he could be a decent long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson at Liverpool, though one imagines this won’t necessarily be seen as an urgent priority for the Reds that soon.

Ait-Nouri looks good enough to move to a bigger club, though, so it seems worth keeping an eye on the Algeria international’s situation in the weeks and months ahead.

Rayan Ait-Nouri produced an outrageous left footed volley to score for Wolves against Rennes in their pre-season friendly earlier today.

The goal came from a well-delivered corner by Sarabia from the right, and Ait-Nouri met it with a breathtaking flying left-footed volley from around 14 yards, sending the ball past the goalkeeper and into the far corner of the net.

Manchester City and Chelsea have reportedly kept Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri on their shortlists as a potential alternative to Brighton full-back Marc Cucurella should a deal for the Spaniard fall through.

That’s according to the Daily Express, who state that the Paris-born starlet has piqued the interests of the Premier League giants with just one month left in the transfer window.

Both teams have made little secret of their bid to sign Cucurella, who seriously impressed at Brighton last season following a £16m move from Getafe.

The Citizens seemed to be leading the one-horse race to sign the former Barcelona youngster, especially given that former star Oleksandr Zinchenko had departed for Arsenal and freeing up space in the left-back slot in the north west. However, they have reportedly refused to pay more than £40m for his services, allowing Chelsea into the race.

In his exclusive CaughtOffside column, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said that the Blues are set to swoop in from under their noses after stumping up the £50m fee that Brighton desired.

And that could turn City’s attention to Ait-Nouri, although bosses at Molineux believe that their youngster is not for sale after a strong showing in pre-season.

Todd Boehly recently completed the purchase of Chelsea, and they’re set for a busy summer under the new regime. Despite getting off to an excellent start in the Premier League, the London club faded away towards the end of the season.

Injuries to the likes of Ben Chilwell in the second half of the season may have affected things, and they’re now showing an interest in another left-back.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, speaking on his Patreon, Chelsea are considering making a move for Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri. The 21-year-old has become a regular in the Wolves team, and is pivotal to their wing-back system.

Chelsea could be without a left-back when the season begins.

Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that Marcos Alonso would be leaving Chelsea this summer, so Thomas Tuchel will be in the hunt for a left-back to rival Chilwell.

After suffering a horrific knee injury, the England international may not come back the same player he once was, so Ait-Nouri could come in and battle Chilwell for his starting spot in the Chelsea team. It’s still yet to be confirmed whether he will even return in time for the new season, so Chelsea could be without a left-back if they don’t replace Alonso.

For once, there was a real lack of discussion points from the Premier League this weekend, in terms of decisions from officials. Don’t get me started on the Super League!

However, on Saturday, in the Wolves vs Sheffield United game, Wolves’ No.3 Rayan Ait-Nouri’s challenge on Rhian Brewster was worthy of a red card in my opinion. It was a potential leg-breaker.

Referee Robert Jones cautioned Brewster for a poor challenge and not Ait-Nouri, and whilst you could perhaps argue it was a caution, the challenge wasn’t by Brewster but on him.

It was a serious and obvious error from the official, or a red card challenge. At the very least, the VAR should’ve advised Jones to take a look at the pitch side monitor.

In the Arsenal vs Fulham game, the visitors were fortunate to get the penalty.

Referee, Craig Pawson, had decided not to give it, with the decision made by the assistant which in itself is unusual since the advent of VAR.

It was minimal, toe-on-toe contact, and had the assistant not given the decision, it wouldn’t be overturned.

The fact is that the standard of officiating at all levels, not just in the Premier League, continues to decline.

I’d love to be involved with the top referees this country has to offer.

I’ve been an elite-level referee myself, and have done enough on the training and education side to know that I’d be an asset and would make a difference.

Maybe if that avenue isn’t open to me, I’ll have to get in touch with the Super League!!

It was no surprise to see that Bruno Fernandes had a hand in the creation of the goal, the playmaker turned behind the halfway line before launching a long-range pass that found its way to Rashford.

Rashford had the ball on the right edge of box, the England international faced up Rayan Ait-Nouri before creating some space away from the full-back – and a couple others – with tidy dribbling.

Rashford then drilled a shot towards goal, which went into the back of the net after an apparent deflection off of Romain Saiss.
