It is uncertain if Mohamed Salah continues with Liverpool beyond the current campaign but if the Egyptian star leaves Anfield, Jurgen Klopp already has one replacement in mind.

The Liverpool winger is Saudi Arabia’s top target for the summer of 2024 after making initial enquiries during the last summer transfer window.

The 31-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires in 2025, therefore, in order to get the best deal from the Saudis, next summer would be the ideal time to sell Salah if he does not sign a new deal.

According to Todofichajes, Jurgen Klopp has Real Betis’ Assane Diao as a potential replacement for his main man next summer.

Assane Diao is liked by Jurgen Klopp

The report states that Klopp has taken notice of Diao’s rapid rise at Real Betis as the winger has become a regular starter at the club at just 18 years old.

The Betis star has played 11 times in all competions this season, scoring four goals along the way.

Diao has a release clause in his current contract worth €30m, which runs until 2027. The winger is likely to stay at the La Liga club for some time given his age, but if Liverpool do come calling next summer, the Spanish outfit will have to accept their bid.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.

Saudi Arabian clubs were keen on signing the player at the start of the season, but Liverpool managed to hold onto him back then. A report from Give Me Sport claims that Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad were willing to offer £200 million to sign the player at the start of the season.

If they come back with a similar offer next summer, Liverpool could consider cashing in on the Egyptian international. Salah has a contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2025 and the Reds will look to cash in on him if he does not sign an extension.

Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs has added that Liverpool have not opened talks with the player regarding his future and the two parties will begin discussions in the New Year.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can convince Salah to sign a new contract with them. The Egyptian is one of the best players in the Premier League and he has been an exceptional servant for the Merseyside outfit since joining them.

His departure will certainly weaken Liverpool’s attack. Despite being 31, Salah is at the peak of his career and he could compete at a world-class level in the upcoming seasons as well. He has 12 goals in 16 matches this season.

A move to Saudi Arabia could be an attractive proposition later on in his career but the player should look to continue in a top European league for now.

Liverpool are reportedly putting plans in place to keep hold of manager Jurgen Klopp and key defender Virgil van Dijk, though it seems they anticipate the departure of star forward Mohamed Salah in the near future.

This is according to a report from Football Transfers, who state that the Reds received a huge bid from Al Ittihad for Salah towards the end of the summer, and it seems the prospect of a move to the Saudi Pro League is still looking pretty realistic.

Still, Liverpool perhaps have more cause for optimism over two other key figures in Klopp and their club captain Van Dijk, with some form of plan in place to ensure they keep both of them at Anfield for the long run.

Van Dijk’s current deal runs until 2025, while Klopp recently signed a new deal until 2026, so this doesn’t seem like a particularly urgent matter for the club.

Virgil van Dijk in action for Liverpool

LFC fans will surely be relieved, though, that there is something prepared to keep hold of two such crucial figures in the club’s recent history, even if there might not be much that can be done to prevent Salah from moving on in the not too distant future.

Salah and Van Dijk have both been among the most important members of Klopp’s squad during his hugely successful Anfield reign, and it seems worthwhile not losing too much of the core of that squad too quickly after the recent departures of the likes of Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho.

Aston Villa are reportedly prepared to make a substantial investment for a standout forward, drawing comparisons to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Recent reports indicate Villa’s determined efforts to reinforce their squad in the January window under manager Unai Emery’s quest for Champions League qualification.

With a strong start in the Premier League, winning eight out of 12 matches, Villa stand as a genuine contender for a top-four finish, currently just three points behind the table-topping Manchester City.

The club are eyeing potential recruits, including Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe, per Football.London. Additionally, there are rumours of Villa targeting attacking additions, with Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson in the spotlight.

The Icelandic international’s impressive form, with five goals in 12 Serie A outings, has attracted attention from clubs like Tottenham. The 26-year-old has the ability to play all across the front three either on the left, right or down the middle.

According to reports from Calciomercato.it, Villa are willing to make a significant financial commitment to secure Gudmundsson, showcasing their intent to bolster the squad.

A deal for Gudmundsson could be very possible with his current club Genoa, down near the bottom in Serie A in 13th, five points above the drop zone, valuing him at £17.5 million per Calciomercato.it.

Egypt were 6-0 winners over Djibouti in their first qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup and it was Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah who stole the show.

The winger is in incredible form for the Reds once again this season and has contributed massively to their positive start to the campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists across 17 matches in all competitions.

The 31-year-old brought that form to the national team and tore Djibouti apart on Thursday.

Salah scored four goals in the win and it has taken his tally for Egypt up to 53 to increase his record as the country’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Injuries and mental health issues have contributed to a sustained loss of form for Tottenham front man Richarlison, and it’s fair to say that the White Hart Lane faithful have yet to see the best of the Brazilian.

It’s entirely possible that they may never get to do that after news emerged that he was a serious target for the Saudi Pro League.

According to Premier Injuries, the again sidelined striker is out of action until December 15, by which time there’s only a couple of games left until the end of the year.

The Telegraph (subscription required) note the interest of the Pro League for a January switch, and, were the striker to be interested in the same, he’s hardly likely to want to risk picking up another injury concern in the festive set of fixtures.

What’s interesting is that the outlet suggest that only the fact that Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Spurs’ Son Heung-min being virtually untouchable for their teams in the first place is the reason why attention has turned to Richarlison.

Man United’s Jadon Sancho is another who is clearly coveted by the Saudi Pro League say The Telegraph, and he too could be on his way to pastures new if the power brokers are able to persuade him.

In Garth Crooks BBC Team of the Week, we saw Cole Palmer feature after his performance against his former side, two Everton players for their win against Palace, and two Liverpool players after their 3-0 win against Brentford.

Palmer was included in Crooks Team of the Week, after his penalty rescued Chelsea a deserved point against his former side Manchester City.

Meanwhile the two Liverpool players included were from either end of the pitch, with Alisson taking the spot in net, and Mohamed Salah in the front three following his brace against Brentford.

Other inclusions were the likes of Dominic Solanke who scored a brace for Bournemouth in their big 2-0 win against Newcastle.

Soucek who scored a late winner for the Hammers against Nottingham Forest to win 3-2 at the London Stadium.

Two Everton players in Vitaliy Mykolenko and Abdoulaye Doucoure for their performances against Crystal Palace in a 3-2 victory for the Toffees.

Arsenal’s William Saliba and Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof both got on the score sheet for their sides, and managed victories to earn their spots in defence.

Whilst the midfield is completed with Pablo Sarabia of Wolves, and John McGinn of Aston Villa, both of which were on the scoresheet for their sides in victories against Tottenham and Fulham.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank could not help but heap praise on Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah after yet another brilliant performance from him.

He scored a brace and was a constant threat as Liverpool beat Brentford 3-0 at Anfield.

Salah’s remarkable display included a brace, contributing significantly to Liverpool’s dominance. The Egyptian forward opened the scoring with a great finish in the 39th minute, set up by a pass from Darwin Nunez.

His second goal arrived in the 62nd minute, a straightforward header from a Tsimikas cross.

And Diogo Jota scored a spectacular goal from the edge of the box in the 74th minute to seal the win.

After the game, the Brentford manager was full of praise for the Liverpool talisman claiming that in his opinion he is potentially the best player in the Premier League and one of the top three best offensive players in the world.

He said: “Mo Salah… I don’t know if he gets enough praise. I think he is potentially the best player in the Premier League. In terms of goals and assists, what a level! Must be one of the best offensive players in the world, like not top 10, like top 3.”

Salah has now scored 10 goals and assisted 4 in 12 league games, taking his goal contributions to a stunning 14. Only Erling Haaland has more goal contributions than him this season (16).

Liverpool fans will remember their away match with Burnley during the 2019/20 season not only for the 3-0 win but the incident between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The Senegal star reacted furiously to his Egyptian teammate during the game as he chose to shoot during a chance rather than pass it across to his fellow unmarked winger in a better position.

After being substituted, Mane threw his training shirt on the floor and gesticulated towards his team-mate in anger.

Many believed that their relationship was not the same after and now in his new book, Si Senor: My Liverpool Years, the third member of the famous front three Roberto Firmino has lifted the lid on the pair’s relationship.

Liverpool had a deadly front three in Mane, Salah and Firmino

Firmino speaks about Salah and Mane’s relationship at Liverpool

Firmino states that the pair’s relationship was complicated and that Jurgen Klopp had to intervene at one point after the Burnley match.

Firmino wrote in his book: “Tense moments usually passed quickly. In the next game, one would be passing the ball to the other – or passing it to me, who would then pass it to the other – and we’d be celebrating another goal for our team.

“Together. Salah and Mane had had their little problems before, but that time everything happened on the field, there for the world to see. That day, at Burnley, the lid came off.

“Their argument wasn’t funny. Potentially, it could have caused problems for us. Maybe the Boss [Jurgen Klopp] and some others were worried.”

Firmino added: “They were never best friends; each kept himself to himself. It was rare to see the two of them talking and I’m not sure if that had to do with the Egypt–Senegal rivalry in African competitions.

“I truly don’t know. But they also never stopped talking, never severed ties. They always acted with the utmost professionalism

“I don’t know if he was aware of it or not, but Salah used to frustrate everyone when he didn’t pass the ball. I knew how to handle that situation better than most.

“Klopp addressed this issue in front of all of us: when a teammate was in a better position, the ball had to be passed. It was a clear hint aimed at Salah.
