There’s just over a month until the January transfer window opens for business, and West Ham United need to bring in a quality front man as soon as practicable.

The Irons have spread the goals around this season but it’s noticeable that their strikers haven’t been at the races where finding the net in 2023/24 is concerned.

David Moyes appeared to try once before to just go with what he had, rather than spending money for the sake of it and, as luck would have it, he seemed to get away with it. Not anymore.

If the Scot wants the Hammers up towards the top of the Premier League and challenging for honours, then a striker purchase in January is an absolutely necessity.

Not just any striker either, but one who is a guarantee of goals.

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke might not be a household name as such, but he does have seven goals and one assist in 13 games in all competitions this season, per WhoScored, which is an impressive return in a team that’s struggling badly under Andoni Iraola.

You’d imagine that the Cherries would fight tooth and nail to keep a player with that sort of output, but it seems as though they won’t have to.

As Sky Sports report, Iraola has been quoted as saying that “he’s happy here,” in relation to the question from a reporter to the Bournemouth manager about Solanke’s links with West Ham.

That’s sure to disappoint the east Londoners who’ll likely have to look elsewhere for their new front man.

Leroy Sane’s contract is a priority for Bayern Munich amid interest from England

Bayern Munich have many contract situations that they need to discuss internally and with player’s representatives, with Leroy Sane falling into this category. Sane is out of contract in the summer of 2025 and it is a crucial moment for Bayern as they still need to discuss a new deal with the player.

From what I understand, Bayern’s plan is to make a very important proposal to Sane as the winger has been one of the German club’s best players this season. The new contract offered to the player will obviously add more years to his stint at the club but it will also see his salary increased, which will include bonuses. Bayern are currently preparing this proposal and they will try hard to convince him to stay.

There is interest in Sane from England but it is nothing advanced. This is why it is now a priority for Bayern to offer the player a new contract.

Could Trevoh Chalobah reunite with Thomas Tuchel in January?

I have told you multiple times that Trevoh Chalobah will not stay at Chelsea beyond the January transfer window as he wants to play regular football. The idea of the club and player are in line and they will try to find the best solution for everyone during the upcoming transfer window.

There are rumours about many clubs being interested in the player from England and Germany. I want to clarify that for Bayern Munich, Chalobah is no longer a priority. He was a priority on Deadline Day this summer as he had previously played under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea but the deal collapsed because of the different closing times of the transfer windows in each country.

There are possibilities in other countries for Chalobah in January, including England, so let’s see what happens.

What does the Premier League’s latest decision mean for Ruben Neves to Newcastle?

There have been rumours of Newcastle eyeing up a move for Al-Hilal’s Ruben Neves ahead of the January transfer window but I can say that there’s nothing going on with this deal at this stage. I can’t predict anything yet for the upcoming transfer window but there are no talks so far, just interest and appreciation. The situation remains very quiet but let’s see in December/January.

Man United target Jean-Clair Todibo has been scouted by many clubs

There have been rumours about Newcastle and Chelsea being interested in Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and I can say that he’s been scouted by many clubs. Man United made contact with the player’s representatives last summer, while Newcastle were tracking him in June then nothing happened. At the moment, there is not something concrete as he is a key player for Nice, therefore, it is not easy at all to imagine a deal in January.

In other news…

Andrey Santos – Chelsea have not held talks with Nottingham Forest about Santos’ lack of playing time. Of course, Chelsea can’t be happy with the current situation but nothing will be discussed before December when the club will decide on many things, including Santos’ future.

Alejandro Balde – Balde signed a new deal with Barcelona in September so there’s nothing at all regarding a move away. He’s a key player for Barça and his extension showed the player that the club want him to be a key part of their current and future projects.

Danny Ings – Following rumours that Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could replace Danny Ings at West Ham, I can say that Solanke is appreciated by the London club. He’s one of the players they like but no decision has been made yet as it is still early. I have no information about the future of Ings yet.

Ahead of the January transfer window opening, West Ham have an eye on the strikers market and one Premier League forward is appreciated by the Hammers, reveals Fabrizio Romano.

The London outfit hoped Gianluca Scamacca would be their long-term striker when they signed the 24-year-old last summer but things did not work out at the London Stadium and the Italian was sold after only one year at the club.

That has left David Moyes short at the beginning of this campaign and the Scottish coach would like to add another striker during the January transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, Romano has said that West Ham like Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke but does not know what the future holds for Danny Ings.

Dominic Solanke in action for Bournemouth

“Following rumours that Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could replace Danny Ings at West Ham, I can say that Solanke is appreciated by the London club. He’s one of the players they like but no decision has been made yet as it is still early. I have no information about the future of Ings,” Romano said.

The next few weeks will reveal who West Ham are targeting for January and it seems that Solanke is certainly an option for Moyes.

West Ham United are expected to prioritise a new striker in January.

According to recent reports, the Hammers are looking to bolster their attacking options after failing to replace Gianluca Scamacca following his move to Atalanta in the summer.

Looking to kick on during the second half of the season, David Moyes, after lifting last season’s Europa Conference League, will be desperate to ensure his options are plentiful — especially with a Europa League knockout campaign virtually nailed on.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are the only recognised strikers in West Ham’s squad, so the club will know just how important a new hitman will be to their season.

And according to a recent report from Football Insider, Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke is one player under consideration by Moyes.

The Cherries will not want to lose their top scorer this season so any kind of deal will be a hard one to conclude.

Nevertheless, the former Liverpool striker, who has already netted six Premier League goals this season, is believed to be high on Moyes’ shortlist.

Solanke is under contract with Bournemouth until 2017 having penned a new deal just two months ago.

West Ham United could reportedly go back in for the transfer of Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke after failing to sign him during the summer.

Solanke has shown some impressive form for the Cherries recently and it could earn him a big move in the near future, with the Daily Mirror suggesting he was a £40million target for the Hammers a few months ago.

West Ham have had an inconsistent start to the season, so could probably do well to bring in more fire-power in attack, with Solanke looking ideal for that role.

The 26-year-old had a difficult start to his career when he failed to make a breakthrough at big clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool, but he’s starting to show his worth in the Premier League now.

Dominic Solanke in action for Bournemouth

The former England international already has seven goals in all competitions this season, equalling his tally from last term despite playing 20 games fewer.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of money is required for West Ham to sign Solanke this winter, with £40m previously apparently not quite enough.

In Garth Crooks BBC Team of the Week, we saw Cole Palmer feature after his performance against his former side, two Everton players for their win against Palace, and two Liverpool players after their 3-0 win against Brentford.

Palmer was included in Crooks Team of the Week, after his penalty rescued Chelsea a deserved point against his former side Manchester City.

Meanwhile the two Liverpool players included were from either end of the pitch, with Alisson taking the spot in net, and Mohamed Salah in the front three following his brace against Brentford.

Other inclusions were the likes of Dominic Solanke who scored a brace for Bournemouth in their big 2-0 win against Newcastle.

Soucek who scored a late winner for the Hammers against Nottingham Forest to win 3-2 at the London Stadium.

Two Everton players in Vitaliy Mykolenko and Abdoulaye Doucoure for their performances against Crystal Palace in a 3-2 victory for the Toffees.

Arsenal’s William Saliba and Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof both got on the score sheet for their sides, and managed victories to earn their spots in defence.

Whilst the midfield is completed with Pablo Sarabia of Wolves, and John McGinn of Aston Villa, both of which were on the scoresheet for their sides in victories against Tottenham and Fulham.

Dominic Solanke has scored again for Bournemouth, this time with a cheeky improvised finish from close range.

Cook sends a dangerous cross into the box and Sinisterra heads it against the post. The ball rebounds back and among the chaos, it is Solanke who is the quickest to react and he comes up with a lovely scorpion-kick like flick to put it past Pope.

The goal was checked for possible handball by the VAR but the goal stood.

Watch the goal below:

With 10 days left of the summer transfer window, West Ham will be one of many teams looking to do some late deals in order to shore up various positions in their squad.

Though the Hammers have now started to get some new faces through the door, it hasn’t been the best of windows for them. More so when you consider how much money they’ve had to spend compared with other transfer windows.

Waiting for the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal before embarking upon their own purchases has proved to be a terrible decision in hindsight, and left the club floundering in the marketplace.

However, there is still time to get deals over the line if all parties are keen to make it work.

To that end, Football Insider have reported that West Ham have made a £35-£40m formal offer for one Premier League striker.

After losing Gianluca Scamacca and, perhaps, with the worry of Michail Antonio potentially accepting an offer from the Saudi Pro League, the Hammers are getting busy.

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke is the player in question, though it isn’t clear if the Cherries are open to an agreement at that price, nor if the player himself, believed to be contracted to the club until 2026, wants to move back to London where he began his career (at Chelsea).

Although West Ham are making progress in the current transfer market after weeks of inactivity, they still haven’t managed to secure themselves a new striker.

Both of their captures to this point have been midfield players in Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, though there are a handful of irons in the fire for the Irons at present.

After having allowed Gianluca Scamacca to leave the club, the need for a replacement was obvious, and that need could be compounded if Michail Antonio decides to accept the overtures of the Saudi Pro League.

The Guardian (subscription required) revealed that the Hammers have actually been trying their best to shore up the squad in various areas, but kept hitting brick walls.

One of the offers made was a more-than-reasonable £40m for Bournemouth’s Dominik Solanke, a player who tanked at Liverpool earlier in his career.

With two weeks left, it’s believed that the club are still working on various deals, though in order to not upset dressing room equilibrium, the sooner that new players are integrated the better.

West Ham have some tough fixtures coming up against the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool, and they can ill afford to be playing catch up at such an early stage in the season if they don’t pick up the points they need because they’ve not been able to bed down their starting XI and squad more generally in good time.
