Bournemouth have reportedly registered their interest in signing defender Rob Holding from Crystal Palace.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Transfers, who claim the Cherries are keen to bring the former Arsenal centre-back to England’s south coast amid his limited playing time since joining the Eagles.

Despite only being signed by Roy Hodgson this summer, Holding, 28, has struggled to keep either Marc Guehi or Joachim Andersen out of the team.

Consequently, with the 28-year-old starting in just half of the Eagles’ Premier League games this season, an almost immediate transfer out of London is now a possibility.

Admiring the former Gunner, as well as needing his level of experience at the back as the club look to retain their top-flight status, manager Andoni Iraola will likely do all he can to convince Holding to join his project.

Obviously, a transfer, whether it be in January, or at the end of the season, will all depend on Palace’s willingness to offload one of their most recent signings. However, with the 28-year-old struggling to become part of Hodgson’s matchday plans, a move away feels like it could benefit all parties

Premier League newcomers Luton Town want to bring Arsenal star Rob Holding to Kenilworth Road before the transfer window shuts but a La Liga side are pushing for the defender.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Holding is expected to leave the Gunners in the final days of the transfer window and the transfer journalist has stated on Tuesday that both Mallorca and Sevilla are interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Spain.

Romano provided an update on the situation on Wednesday and has stated that it is the former that are pushing for the player as they have asked for the conditions of the Holding deal and if the Englishman doesn’t want to leave his home country, Luton are an option.

Luton have brought in several players so far this summer but have not spent that much with the £5m signing of Ryan Giles being their biggest signing.

Football Insider are reporting that Wolves and Crystal Palace are also interested in the defender and could make a move before Deadline Day to challenge the Spanish clubs.

The 27-year-old will leave Arsenal after seven years at the London club and having worn the Gunners’ shirt a total of 162 times. Holding was tipped for big things when he joined from Bolton but it didn’t go to plan due to one reason or another, and now the defender is looking for a fresh start at a new club.

After going all out in the current transfer window to land the targets that they wanted Arsenal now need to balance the books, and Crystal Palace may well be one of the beneficiaries.

The north Londoners have arguably had one of the best windows of any side across the top five leagues, landing all of their major targets – Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya – with relative ease.

Given the cost to bring them all in, however, there’s a clear need to clean out all of the ‘dead wood’ now.

With just a few days to go until the transfer window closes, that may be easier said than done.

One player who’ll arguably be desperate to make a move elsewhere is defender, Rob Holding, and, according to Football Insider, Crystal Palace along with Wolves and Real Betis, are interested in the player’s services.

It isn’t known at this stage what sort of fee Arsenal will require from any potential buying club, but given the way in which the market has exploded this summer it wouldn’t be a surprise to the Gunners asking for a decent sum of money in return – despite the fact that Holding has barely played of late.

At 27, he is approaching his prime as a player and, to that end, really needs to be given the chance to showcase his defensive abilities on a regular basis.

The future of Rob Holding at Arsenal will be decided this week with Premier League and La Liga clubs pursuing the defender ahead of Deadline Day.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday that Holding is expected to leave the Gunners in the final days of the transfer window and the transfer journalist has stated on Tuesday that both Mallorca and Sevilla are interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Spain.

The centre-back has entered the final year of his contract at the Emirates and now would be the best time to sell him. Holding has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal and it would be best for his career that he looks for a regular football elsewhere, which looks like it will happen this week.

If Holding wants to remain in England, Football Insider are reporting that Wolves and Crystal Palace are interested in the defender and could make a move before Deadline Day to challenge the Spanish clubs.

The 27-year-old will leave Arsenal after seven years at the London club and having worn the Gunners’ shirt a total of 162 times. There is one week left in this summer’s transfer window and one player that could leave Arsenal in the coming days is Rob Holding.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Holding is expected to leave Arsenal in the final days of the transfer window and that there are discussions ongoing at present to make it happen.

Several Spanish clubs are believed to be asking for the details regarding the transfer of the defender as it remains to be seen where the 27-year-old will end up for the rest of the current campaign.

Holding is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans anymore and with only a year left on his contract, now is the perfect time to sell the centre-back.

In terms of incoming transfers, there aren’t many, if any clubs that could better Arsenal’s window this summer.

Mikel Arteta and sporting director, Edu, have recruited incredibly well and managed to strengthen a side that only just missed out on landing their first Premier League title in 19 years in 2022/23.

Declan Rice – for an English transfer record since topped by Chelsea’s purchase of Moises Caicedo-, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya have all been secured.

Great though their incoming business may be, it does mean that fringe players need to be offloaded, and as football.london recognise, that could mean as many as seven first-team squad players have to make way.

The outlet note that Arteta currently has 32 players in the squad, and that’s far too many for a team challenging for any title.

Twenty five is a far more acceptable number, which means the Gunners could, and probably should be looking for new playing destinations for up to seven of the stars.

With nine days left of the transfer window, there is still time to get deals across the line, but seven from one club could prove problematic.

The players concerned are Folarin Balogun, Rob Holding, Nuno Tavares, Cedric Soares, Nicolas Pepe, Albert Sambi Lakonga and Kieran Tierney.

Given that all are at different stages of their contracts, there may be a bargain or two to be had if interested parties start the ball rolling with negotiations as soon as possible.

Turkish giants Besiktas have opened talks with Arsenal over the potential transfer of defender Rob Holding.

The 27-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the Arsenal first-team in recent times, looking unconvincing when he had to play a run of games towards the end of last season when William Saliba was injured.

It’s surely now for the best if Arsenal sell Holding, and it seems they’ll have the chance to do a deal with Besiktas, with discussions underway after the Turkish side failed to reach an agreement to sign another Gunners player in the form of Nicolas Pepe, as explained by Fabrizio Romano here.

Holding could be a solid signing for someone like Besiktas, even if he isn’t quite up to the standard of this Arsenal side after the tremendous strides they’ve made under Mikel Arteta.

It will be interesting to see how this develops and if any other clubs, perhaps some in the Premier League, also show an interest in Holding in the coming days and weeks.

Arsenal midfielders Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe are still both facing uncertain futures ahead of what could end up being a mass clear-out in the next period of the summer transfer window.

Sources with a close understanding of Arsenal’s current plans have informed CaughtOffside that Partey could still leave for the right price, despite more recent speculation suggesting he’s now set to stay at the Emirates Stadium. At the moment, however, it remains the case that the Gunners are yet to receive any offers for the Ghana international, and it’s unclear if suitors will be willing to meet the north Londoners’ demands.

Fan-favourite Smith Rowe is in a similar situation, with Arsenal open to letting him go if anyone comes in with the right kind of money, though that is yet to materialise. Elsewhere in midfield, Albert Sambi Lokonga could join Burnley, with talks well underway for him to link up with fellow Belgian Vincent Kompany.

Arsenal are also expected to offload defensive players this summer, with Rob Holding a likely candidate for the exit door as he attracts interest from newly-promoted Luton Town. Portuguese duo Cedric Soares and Nuno Tavares are also likely to leave and both have interest from clubs in the Premier League.

Folarin Balogun is among the players who could leave Arsenal

Arsenal’s attack also looks a little congested at the moment, with Folarin Balogun attracting particular attention. CaughtOffside understands that Balogun is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans and is also keen to leave for more playing time.

Inter Milan still looks the most likely destination for Balogun, with the Serie A giants understood not to have dropped their interest in him completely, even if they have also been in touch with West Ham about signing Gianluca Scamacca as a cheaper alternative.

Nicolas Pepe and Marquinhos are two other players not in Arteta’s plans, though there is still no concrete interest in the club’s record signing. Marquinhos, meanwhile, has suitors in both the Premier League and the Championship.

CaughtOffside understands Arsenal are exploring a deal for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, but outgoings still seem to be a main focus before any further major signings can be made.

Fabrizio Romano has provided some Arsenal transfer news in his exclusive CaughtOffside column this morning, discussing the latest on the futures of the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Rob Holding, Cedric Soares and Arthur Okonkwo.

Arsenal have had a busy summer bringing in Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz, so there will surely now be outgoings before they can possibly consider re-entering the market for further signings.

While Gunners fans will surely want to see more new faces coming in, it could take some time to see movement on the likes of Pepe and Cedric, according to Romano.

It had looked like Pepe could move to the Saudi Pro League, but that seems to have stalled, while Cedric’s wage demands seem to be proving an issue for suitors like Villarreal.

Romano also didn’t have a further update on Holding’s future, so things may become clearer in the coming weeks with regards to how much AFC can spend.

What next for Rob Holding?

“As previously reported, Arsenal are focusing on player sales after deals for Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz,” Romano said.

“Nicolas Pepe had opportunities from Saudi but it’s still in stand-by now, Cedric Soares is attracting interest from different countries, including Spain with Villarreal, but his salary is too big for them now.

“There’s no news on Rob Holding after Besiktas interest; Arthur Okonkwo will leave in a permanent transfer.”

With so much going on at Arsenal at the moment it’s difficult to keep track of all the ins and outs, though Mikel Arteta will know who he wants to keep, who he’s willing to let go and which players he wants brought in.

Kai Havertz had a run out on Thursday against Nurnberg, whilst the north Londoners are still waiting on bureaucratic red tape before being able to announce Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber as more new signings.

Those three captures alone will make the Gunners a stronger outfit than they were in 2022/23, however, if the Spaniard is able to add even more quality to the squad, Arsenal could become a real thorn in Man City’s side in 2023/24 – the 20th anniversary of the last time they won the Premier League.

For each new signing that comes in, so players are likely to be fearful of their places and, perhaps, will be the subject of bids from elsewhere with other clubs understand the precise nature of certain situations.

That’s definitely the case for centre-back, Rob Holding, who has been the subject of a €2.5m bid from Turkish giants, Besiktas, according to The Athletic (subscription required).

Although the outlet suggest that the Gunners will turn down the offer, Holding himself might have something to say about that, given that it would arguably mean regular football for him – something that he’s unlikely to get when William Saliba is fully fit.
