Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has surprisingly confessed that scoring goals is not a specialty of his after failing to get on the scoresheet for Brazil during the international break.

The South American giants lost both of their matches over the past week against Colombia and Argentina as the team’s crisis worsened.

Jesus returned from a hamstring injury against the World Cup champions on Tuesday night but failed to get on the scoresheet as his side were beaten 1-0 thanks to a Nicolas Otamendi header.

Speaking after the game, the Arsenal star defended his record in front of goal and called for more patience from fans, but admitted that finding the back of the net is not something that comes naturally to him.

“The goal is inevitable and I don’t think it is my strongest suit,” the forward told reporters via Lance.

“But I (will) score the goal, I’m there to score the goal. I scored goals here in the National Team. When I score again, it will happen naturally.”

This may be a worry for Arsenal fans as Jesus has scored just 14 goals across 44 appearances since joining the club. The Brazilian is a highly skillful player but his numbers need to improve this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side score goals from elsewhere but the Spanish coach would love a proper number nine in his team.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in Ivan Toney and Dusan Vlahovic in 2024, therefore, Jesus will need to pick up the pace if he wants to keep his starting spot beyond this campaign.

Arsenal fans will be delighted after Gabriel Jesus was spotted back in full training while on international duty with Brazil.

The South American striker has been a sensation for the Gunners since signing from Manchester City last year but he has been plagued with several injuries.

Jesus missed the opening games of this season’s Premier League after he had surgery on a reoccurring knee issue and then picked up a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Sevilla.

Despite missing his last five club games, the 26-year-old was called up to international duty with Brazil alongside both Gabriel Maghalaes and Gabriel Martinelli.

On Sunday, Jesus was spotted back in full training and is expected to play in their bitter clash with Argentina, early Wednesday morning.

Mikel Arteta will be crossing his fingers and praying that he comes out of the fixture unscathed, as they have a crucial clash with RC Lens to secure qualification for the next round of the Champions League after the break.

Gabriel Jesus has been left out of the Brazil squad to face Columbia on Thursday.

The Arsenal striker, who has not played since he injured his hamstring against Sevilla on October 24, will not be in World Cup qualifying action against Columbia this week.

That’s according to a recent report from the Standard, who claims the former Manchester City forward has been ruled out of his country’s next match.

Desperate to ensure Jesus’ recovery from injury is not made worse, Arsenal will be pleased to hear that national manager Tite has agreed to omit the 26-year-old from his playing squad.

Jesus could be in line to feature against Argentina next Wednesday though.

From a domestic point of view, Arsenal trail defending champions Manchester City by just one point after 11 games, and with the Gunners not blessed with the biggest of squads, Jesus’ availability will be crucial to Mikel Arteta’s title challenge.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has expressed his frustrations regarding the injury record of the Gunners’ striker Gabriel Jesus.

The Arsenal icon has shared his main concerns about the Brazilian player, who delivered an exceptionally impressive performance against Sevilla last month.

“The only problem with Gabriel Jesus is that he often gets injured. Unfortunately for him and us,” Henry said live on CBS Sport.

Gabriel Jesus provided a notable assist for Gabriel Martinelli’s opening goal and scored a remarkable goal to secure the victory against the Spanish side. Unfortunately, he sustained a hamstring injury late in the game, keeping him sidelined since then.

Due to this injury, Jesus has missed recent matches against Sheffield United, West Ham, Newcastle United, and the home fixture against Sevilla. To add, his availability for the upcoming weekend’s fixture against Burnley remains uncertain.

According to Transfermarkt, the Brazilian international missed 17 games for club and country last term, and he has already missed nine matches this season due to injuries, thus highlighting Henry’s concerns over his injury record.

To compensate for the absence of Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal could consider deploying Leandro Trossard who performed admirably in their recent match and helping Arsenal secure a 2-0 victory against Sevilla.

Arsenal could be without as many as three first-team players for Wednesday night’s Champions League group game against Sevilla.

The Gunners, who will come into tomorrow night’s narrowly top of Group B, will welcome Sevilla to the Emirates Stadium but could now find themselves as the match’s underdogs.

And that’s because according to a recent report from the Evening Standard’s Simon Collings, attacking trio Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Jesus and captain Martin Odegaard have all been forced to miss the Gunners’ most recent training session.

Although Nketiah could still make Mikel Arteta’s lineup, the Englishman will need to pass a late fitness test, and that is not something that is guaranteed after he picked up a knock against Newcastle United last weekend.

And with Jesus and Odegaard expected to miss tomorrow night’s game, Arteta will be forced to re-think his attacking line, which could now include Emile Smith Rowe and Leandro Trossard.

Wednesday night’s match at the Emirates, which is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. (UK time), will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had plenty to say about the VAR decision that he felt cost his side the game against Newcastle on Saturday, but the truth is that it looks like his post-match rant is little more than a convenient distraction from the fact that the changes he’s made this season have taken his team backwards.

Many will have had Arsenal as one of the title favourites this season, with the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham during the summer showing huge ambition to pull off against their bitter rivals Manchester City. Rice aside, however, the Gunners have not spent their money particularly well, and it’s allowed both Liverpool and Tottenham to overtake them as more likely rivals to Pep Guardiola’s treble winners this term.

Arsenal were truly excellent last season and may well have won the title if not for William Saliba’s injury meaning Rob Holding had to fill in for so many important games – an enforced change that looks even worse now with the benefit of hindsight as Saliba has returned to fitness and form while Holding has barely kicked a ball since his summer move to Crystal Palace.

So while last year was no fluke, there was a huge opportunity here for Arsenal, and it’s starting to look like they haven’t taken it: losing Granit Xhaka, one of their players of the season, seems all the more baffling after his tremendous start at Bayer Leverkusen, while Kai Havertz’s signing never really looked like it made sense and still doesn’t, while big questions have to be asked of Arteta for bringing in David Raya as his new number one when Aaron Ramsdale had a perfectly good season in 2022/23.

David Raya hasn’t looked convincing for Arsenal so far

Of course, Arsenal have had some awful luck with injuries which shouldn’t be forgotten – Jurrien Timber, most cruelly, didn’t even last his full Premier League debut and will be fortunate to play any meaningful role this season. Elsewhere, Gabriel Jesus has only played a handful of games, following on from some fitness issues last term as well. Thomas Partey also can’t seem to stay fit, begging the question once again as to why it was Xhaka rather than him who was shown the door over the summer.

The continued absence of Jesus has meant more playing time for Eddie Nketiah – a popular figure at the Emirates Stadium after rising up through the club’s academy, but not a striker who is ever likely to be good enough for a title-challenging team. Hat-tricks against teams like Sheffield United will of course bring a cheer to the Emirates crowd, but it’s pretty worthless when he can’t seem to score away from home or make much of an impact against teams in the top half. There’s no guarantee Folarin Balogun would have been a better option, but you could again forgive Arsenal fans for asking if they sold the right striker this summer.

Mikel Arteta was furious after the defeat to Newcastle

All in all, it’s not looking good for Arteta and he knows it. “There’s so much at stake here … it’s so difficult to compete at this level,” the Spanish tactician said after the game, almost hinting that Newcastle’s controversial goal may already have cost his side the title this year – but the truth is arguably more frustrating than that: Arsenal were in a position to take a positive step forward, but, for whatever reason, ended up over-thinking it and reinventing the wheel when the old one was rolling along quite nicely in the right direction.

We all know it took Manchester City a bit of time to get going last season as they continued to trail Arsenal in the title race, and some Gooners may comfort themselves that a similar phenomenon is occurring here and that the tide could change in particular once Partey and Jesus are available again, and if Timber can return earlier can expected, but the truth is that for all the faith placed in Raya and Havertz, Arsenal are not yet seeing any kind of return on their summer investment – unless those two can really step up soon, that will be where Arteta and co. have to look back and take some responsibility for their own poor decision-making.

Former Newcastle and England captain, Alan Shearer, knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a success as a striker at St. James’ Park.

Though Alexander Isak has hit the ground running since his signing and Callum Wilson still knows where the goal is, Shearer is looking to Arsenal’s £65m-rated (transfermarkt) Gabriel Jesus as a player he would apparently bring to the north east.

“You’d have him at Newcastle wouldn’t you, Al?” Gary Lineker asked Shearer on the The Rest Is Football podcast.

“I don’t think he’s elite, he’s not elite, but he’ll always get you goals when he’s fit and injuries have been a problem. But, yeah, I wouldn’t take anything back that you two guys have said,” Shearer added.

It’s clearly just a personal opinion as it’s highly unlikely Mikel Arteta and the Gunners board would entertain a transfer for the Brazilian despite his recent injury record.

Mikel Arteta has received a setback as the Gunners boss has confirmed that key duo Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus will be out of action for a “few weeks”.

The Ghanaian star picked up an injury in training prior to the North London club’s clash with Sevilla on Tuesday, whilst Jesus injured his hamstring during that match.

The Brazilian was instrumental in the win but having the two out for a long period of time will be a blow to Arteta.

When asked about the fitness of Partey at a press conference today, the Gunners boss said: “He has got a massive injury and we expect him to be out for a few weeks. We don’t really know the extent of it and he has more tests. He picked up that injury during the last training session before Sevilla, very unfortunate. ”

Regarding Jesus, Arteta also had a bleak update for Arsenal fans: “The scan shows that it is a muscle injury and we might lose him for a few weeks again.

“With Gabby, I can’t give you any timeframe because he always surprises us.”

Arsenal managed to beat Sevilla in their Champions League group stage match, winning 2-1 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Arsenal took the lead right at the end of the first half with a goal from Gabriel Martinelli, before making it two in the 53rd minute through Gabriel Jesus.

Sevilla grabbed one back in the 58th minute through Nemanja Gudelj, however the game ended 2-1 and the Gunners managed to get all three points.

Read on for our Arsenal player ratings, and who stood out for the Gunners…

David Raya – 6 – Only made the one save, did make three high claims though and completed five long passes. Not much he could do about the goal.

Takehiro Tomiyasu – 7 – Looked solid slotting in the inverted fullback role, completed two of his four long balls and made three clearances.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 6 – Lost a few more duels than usual, only winning two of his six attempted duels, however he did make two out of his six long balls and made three clearances.

William Saliba – 7 – Was more involved defensvily, with six clearances and one tackle, and was also the main defender bringing the ball out from the back with 46 accurate passes made out of his 55 attempted.

Ben White – 6 – Was dribbled past on a few occasions and beaten down his flank for Sevilla to put crosses into the box, and didn’t offer much on the overlap for Arsenal.

Declan Rice – 7.5 – Really solid in midfield and looked to be progressive with the ball making three key passes in this game. He also made two tackles, one interceptions and one block protecting the defensive unit.

Jorginho – 6 – Was in the team to control the tempo and he did use the ball well moving it side to side with a 95% passing accuracy and 63 touches. However did pick up a yellow and was slightly liable in transition.

Martin Odegaard – 6 – Not his best game in terms of creation, making no key passes and only creating  0.02 x/A (expected assists). Only had 30 touches and made 17 accurate passes.

Gabriel Martinelli – 8 – Got the opening goal calmly rounding the keeper and slotting it home and could have had another. Made four key passes and looked threatening throughout down the left flank.

Gabriel Jesus – 9 – A complete performance from the centre forward, getting a goal and an assist, making three key passes and creating two big chances. Linked up play very well between the lines.

Bukayo Saka – 7 – A quieter game for Saka, maybe due to the brilliance of the other forwards, still managed three key passes and two shots (both of which were blocked)

Subs: Kai Havertz 4, Eddie Nketiah 4, Leandro Trossard 5, Jakub Kiwior N/A.

Mikel Arteta has revealed the extent of Gabriel Jesus’ injury.

The Brazilian was incredible for Arsenal during their 2-1 triumph against Sevilla in Spain on Tuesday night.

The striker grabbed an assist in the first half when he sold three players with a beautiful turn before playing in Gabriel Martinelli to score.

He then scored a goal of his own with an emphatic finish into the top corner to give the Gunners a 2-0 lead.

Unfortunately, Jesus went down holding his hamstring late on and limped off the pitch with Eddie Nketiah taking his place.

Speaking to the media after the game, Arteta provided an update on the Brazilian’s injury.

“No he felt something in his hamstring.” he told TNT via Football.London.

“Let’s see”.

Arsenal are now top of their Champions League group and welcome Sevilla to the Emirates next week.
