Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing the Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante.

According to reports, the Aston Villa sporting director Monchi facilitated the player’s move from Atalanta to Roma in 2019 and he could now play a key role in bringing the player to the West Midlands club as well.

Aston Villa need more quality and depth in their squad in order to challenge for European qualification and Cristante would be a superb addition.

The 28-year-old has done quite well for the Italian club and the opportunity to play in the Premier League at this stage of his career could be hard to turn down.

Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante has been linked with a move away from the Italian club and a number of Premier League clubs are keen on him.

Initially, there were reports claiming that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the 28-year-old midfielder but TV Play are now reporting that Aston Villa and West Ham United have joined the race as well.

Aston Villa could certainly use more midfield reinforcements and Cristante would be a quality acquisition for Unai Emery. Summer signing Youri Tielemans has not been able to live up to the expectations and the West Midlands club need more options at their disposal.

The 28-year-old Roma midfielder is certainly good enough to play in the Premier League and he could prove to be a quality acquisition. The midfielder is reportedly valued at €30 million and Aston will certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done.

Real Madrid fans will be delighted to see that loanee and academy graduate Borja Mayoral has netted a brace for Roma in today’s Serie A clash against Crotone.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring in just the seventh minute of the tie, when Gonzalo Villar pinged the ball across to Henrik Mkhitaryan on the left-wing.

The former Dortmund, Manchester United and Arsenal playmaker expertly controlled the ball before he punished Crotone for leaving him with time and space, as he put the ball on a plate for Mayoral to tap in.

Mayoral then produced an amazing moment in the 28th minute of the encounter, when he received the ball on the half-turn after Bryan Cristante won the ball in midfield with a fierce tackle.

The ex-Spain Under-21s ace composed himself, looked up and fired the ball right into the top corner from some 30 yards out with a spectacular strike.

As per Roma’s official statement, Mayoral is on a two-year loan deal at the cost of €2m, with this including a permanent option of €15m during this season and a €20m one in 2021/22.

Mayoral has now contributed six goals and three assists this season from 16 appearances for Roma, starting in nine of those outings.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, certainly isn’t resting on his laurels.

After signing Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares in January on loan deals, the Gunners boss is sending scouts to Italy this weekend to look at another potential target.

Roma’s Bryan Cristante is apparently attracting Arteta’s interest, according to the Mirror via Italian outlet Calciomercato.

It’s understood that more quality in midfield is what’s required as the north Londoners look to strengthen in the middle of the park.

Whether this means more rotation for the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos and Lucas Torreira et al, or perhaps a clear out in the summer, isn’t yet clear.

What is understood is that Arteta has a vision and a project and he will do what he believes is best for the club.

He said back at his original press conference that he wants all of his players with him, and if they’re not, the likelihood is there’ll be a problem.

Should Cristante arrive, it makes his decision on who to cull just that little bit easier.

Cristante has made 17 appearances across all competitions this season, the ace is primarily used in a defensive midfield role.

Arsenal’s shaky backline needs all the protection that it can get, targeting a defensive midfielder could prove to be a wise move by Arteta.

Serie A club Lazio have already lined up Atalanta star Bryan Cristante to replace Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Just this week the Independent have reported that Jose Mourinho and Manchester United have identified two key targets to overhaul their midfield in the summer. Mourinho is reportedly set to be growing increasingly keen on long-term target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred to inject some pace into a United midfield that has witnessed frequent changes and rotation this summer.

The respected Italian outlet CalcioMercato have now reported that Lazio have already eyed a replacement for the Serbian star Milinkovic-Savic, which is undoubtedly a huge boost for United that Lazio have already started to prepare for life without the midfielder.

The report states that Lazio have cited Atalanta starlet Bryan Cristante as a potential successor to Milinkovic-Savic if the Serb is to leave this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic has been linked to United for a prolonged period and the Daily Mail reported last month that the Red Devils have even been sending scouts to watch the star who is likely to carry a price-tag in the region of £89m.

It remains to be seen what this news could mean for the likes of Paul Pogba with the midfielder having already been snubbed for huge games this season such as a Champions League tie with Seville.

After making a positive impression at Atalanta this season, midfielder Bryan Cristante is reportedly on the radars of Arsenal and Chelsea ahead of the summer.

The 23-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 44 appearances this season, putting the disappointment of not making the grade at AC Milan firmly behind him.

The youngster did make an early breakthrough at the San Siro in the 2013/14 season, but he was disappointingly later shipped out to Benfica as Milan opted to move one of their talented youth products on.

Having also gained experience of playing in Europe this season in the Europa League though, he has improved significantly and is seemingly attracting plenty of interest from England.

According to Sky Sports, both Arsenal and Chelsea are keeping an eye on him while it’s suggested he would be open to a move to the Premier League with his representatives having already held discussions.

Both sides are seemingly in need of reinforcements in that department, with Chelsea relying on Cesc Fabregas to provide creativity and attacking quality alongside the likes of N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

As for Arsenal, with Jack Wilshere’s current contract still on course to expire at the end of the season, they could be looking to replace him in the near future and Cristante may emerge as an option.

Still only just 23 years of age, the Italian ace still has plenty of room for improvement and growth. Perhaps a move to the Premier League will help him to take his game to the next level, although it remains to be seen where his next destination is.

With uncertainty over who will replace Arsene Wenger this summer after he steps down, as noted by BBC Sport, it’s questionable as to whether Arsenal can make their move until an appointment is made.
