As many as eight big names at Leicester City could reportedly be on their way out of the club in the not too distant future, according to a report from Football League World.

The Foxes are currently top of the Championship, making a strong start to life back in English football’s second tier after their relegation from the Premier League last season.

It might not be long before we see Leicester back in the top flight, but for now there’s serious doubt over a number of their biggest names.

According to the Football League World’s report, the right players facing uncertain futures are Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Jannik Vestergaard, Marc Albrighton, Dennis Praet, Alex Smithies and Wanya Marcal.

A number of these players, such as Vestergaard, are coming towards the ends of their contracts, while others like Smithies and Marcal are not playing regularly, so might leave for more first-team football.

Despite a home defeat against Leeds United at the weekend, Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City side are still flying high at the top of the Championship table.

Though they have Ipswich Town just three points behind them, the gap between the Foxes and Daniel Farke’s Leeds in third is a cavernous 11 points.

It would take a monumental drop off in form and results for Leicester to be caught, however, with so much of the season to go, any loss of confidence could absolutely be capitalised on.

One way to keep things fresh and players on their toes is to bring in others, and that could be something that Maresca is considering for the January transfer window.

According to TeamTalk, Leicester are one of a handful of clubs – which includes Premier League outfits Burnley and Crystal Palace – to be keeping tabs on Villarreal hit-man, Ben Brereton Diaz.

It’s reported that the former Blackburn star hasn’t really settled at the Yellow Submarine since a summer switch, and the La Liga club would be willing to loan him in the new year in order that he’s able to pick up some significant game time.

With Leicester believed to want a replacement for Kelechi Iheanacho, a move for Brereton Diaz would appear to make perfect sense.

From the player’s perspective, helping to drive Leicester’s promotion charge would be an obvious attraction.

Along with West Ham and Brentford, Crystal Palace have reportedly joined the race to sign Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a free transfer at the end of the season.

That’s according to a recent report from TEAMtalk, who claims the Eagles are heading a three-horse race to sign the Foxes’ soon-to-be free agent.

Iheanacho, 27, has spent the majority of his career at the King Power – signing for the Foxes from Manchester City back in 2017, the Nigerian has featured in well over 200 games for the club.

However, with his contract set to expire next summer and the Championship side showing no signs of reaching an agreement over a renewal, there is a growing expectation that next season could see Iheanacho return to the Premier League, even if his current club do not.

And with Palace, West Ham and Brentford all in the mix to offer the 27-year-old a route out of Leicester, this summer certainly looks to be the time the Foxes’ number 14 moves in search of a new challenge.

Leicester City are battling to keep hold of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho ahead of the January transfer window.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who reports that Leicester could be forced into letting the duo go if they cannot tie them down to fresh terms before then as their contracts expire at the end of the season.

This means the Foxes could lose them for free next summer, with January being the last chance to bring in a transfer fee for both stars.

TEAMtalk states that Ndidi is in demand with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid having enquired about the midfielder, while Lyon and Monaco are also keen to bring him to France. There is also interest from the Premier League with Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Brentford amongst those who are considering a January move for the Leicester star.

Both Ndidi and Iheanacho are key players for Leicester and with their push for a return to the Premier League going great so far, the Foxes will not want to lose any player midway through the campaign as it could derail their promotion charge.

West Ham United and Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing Kelechi Iheanacho from Leicester City.

The 27-year-old striker is in the final year of his contract with the Championship club and he could move on as a free agent in the summer. As per TeamTalk, the two London clubs could look to make their move in January so that they can sign him for a nominal price.

It would make sense for Leicester City to sell him for a reasonable price in January instead of losing him for free at the end of the season. Iheanacho has been a useful player for Leicester City this season, scoring six goals and picking up two assists across all competitions.

He has played in the Premier League in the past and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for West Ham and Crystal Palace. The Hammers certainly need to add more depth to their attack, and Iheanacho could provide a quality alternative to Michail Antonio.

Kelechi Iheanacho in action.

West Ham will be hoping to secure Europa League qualification this season and signing the right players in January could make a big difference for them. They have already improved their attack with the arrival of Mohammed Kudus and signing a reliable goalscorer could prove to be a wise decision.

Similarly, Crystal Palace need to add more cutting edge in the final third and the 27-year-old Leicester City striker would be a solid option for them in the attack.

Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who has been in fine form recently with five goals and two assists in 13 appearances this season, is drawing interest from several clubs, including Inter Milan.

His contract with Leicester expires next summer, making him a potential transfer target.

Pundit Carlton Palmer suggests that Leicester is likely to demand at least £15 million for Iheanacho in the January transfer window.

Speaking in an interview with the Football League World, he stated (via The Real EFL):

“Inter Milan are the latest club to be running the rule over Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho, Leicester sit top of the Championship, and Iheanacho has scored three goals in his last three games.”

“Leicester have a decision to make over the Nigerian international, he’s still earning Premier League wages, and his contract is up in the summer.”

“It won’t be what they could have got had he gone this summer, but I think Leicester will be looking for £15 million plus, or they may take a view to keep him until the end of the season and get promoted and see where they are then.”

His contract expires next summer which is why Leicester may be open to cashing in on him in January.

He was the subject of several transfer enquiries during the summer transfer window but ultimately remained with the Championship side following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Whether he leaves in January or stays with the club and helps them regain promotion to the Premier League remains to be seen.

There’s precious little time left for West Ham to get any other transfer deals over the line, though they are looking at one £20m-rated Leicester striker ahead of Friday night’s deadline.

The Hammers have started the 2023/24 Premier League campaign brilliantly, but David Moyes will know that an injury to Michail Antonio would leave his side back at square one.

Allowing Gianluca Scamacca to leave earlier in the window was surely with a view to bringing in a replacement, and yet with just over 24 hours left until the window closes for a few months, Moyes still hasn’t managed to secure anyone to either challenge Antonio or partner him up front.

According to reliable journalist and CaughtOffside columnist, Ben Jacobs, West Ham are running the rule over Kelechi Iheanacho.

Jacobs reports that Foxes manager, Enzo Maresca, would prefer that the player stays put at the King Power Stadium, however, with interest from Crystal Palace and Wolves too, he may find it difficult to hold on to the Nigerian.

From West Ham’s point of view, given the lack of time to get a deal done, they need to be doing a bit more than just looking at the possibilities.

At this point, the powers that be at the club should be talking about potential transfer fee, length of deal, salary expected etc., in order that Friday can be spent getting the documents together and medical done.

Roy Hodgson clearly isn’t happy with the way that his Crystal Palace strikers have begun the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The elder statesman amongst the Premier League manager has seen his side draw a blank against Arsenal and narrowly beat Sheffield United on the opening day.

With such a vibrant, attacking side at his disposal, one goal scored in two games isn’t enough to get Hodgson excited, and with nine days left of the transfer window it appears that the south Londoners are going to do their upmost to bring in a striker who has 56 goals in 210 appearances according to the Daily Mail.

In order for there to be room for Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho to join, however, the Selhurst Park outfit must first get rid of Jean-Philippe Mateta say the Daily Mail.

It’s believed that RB Leipzig could be interested in taking the player, though nothing has been confirmed at this stage.

Without the guile, power and pace of Wilfried Zaha, Palace seem to have lost a lot of their ‘zip’ in attack, and that could be a worry for Hodgson.

Therefore, any more for Iheanacho isn’t just strategic but necessary.

There’s plenty of time to secure the player’s future, though the sooner Mateta agrees to join Leipzig – if indeed he wants to – the better.

Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho reportedly looks closer to leaving the club for a quick return to the Premier League.

The Nigeria international has not been the most consistent performer for the Foxes, but he’s also surely still too good for the Championship, and it looks like he’s heading back to the top flight following the club’s relegation last season.

According to latest reports, Iheanacho is now closing in on an £8million transfer to Nottingham Forest, who were big spenders last summer as well, and managed to stay up after winning promotion in 2021/22…

Leicester fans will be disappointed to see a big name leaving the King Power Stadium, but it might also be an opportunity for the club to rebuild and make a fresh start as they look to win promotion back to the Premier League as soon as possible.

Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is reportedly looking increasingly likely to leave the club this summer.

It would be fair to say the Nigeria international hasn’t quite had the desired impact at the King Power Stadium, though he’s a big enough name that he should have some big-name suitors this summer.

According to latest reports, Turkish giants Besiktas are currently stepping up their interest in a transfer deal for Iheanacho.

The 26-year-old has a year left on his Leicester contract, so the Foxes aren’t in the best negotiating position and may have to accept losing him on the cheap this summer.

It will be interesting to see how this develops, but Iheanacho might do well to try reviving his career at a new club in a different country.
