Things have really gone from bad to worse for Timo Werner at RB Leipzig, the former Chelsea forward enduring a nightmare in the 2023/24 season.

WhoScored note he has just two goals across the whole campaign so far, and his place at RB Leipzig this season has often been taken by the likes of Benjamin Sesko and even Xavi Simons.

The only realistic option for the former Chelsea flop, now 27 years of age, is a move away, and as 90Min note, he has apparently been offered to the Premier League and that Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham are interested in his services.

However, that information doesn’t tally with that of transfer expert and CaughtOffside columnist, Fabrizio Romano.

“Despite rumours, I have to say no, honestly, I didn’t hear that he’s being offered to other clubs,” he said when speaking to CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing column.

“Some Premier League clubs have asked about his situation as it’s not an easy time for him at Leipzig, but I don’t have any confirmation yet on club names as it’s purely early stages, nothing concrete yet.”

Of course, things can and often do change, and if Werner wants to kick-start his fading career, then leaving Leipzig would appear to be the only option available to him at this moment.

Seemingly devoid of confidence in front of goal, the German international needs to find a club where his skill set is perfectly complimentary to that which said club already has in situ.

One of the most natural and feared goal scorers when he was at Leipzig first time around, things have gradually got worse for Werner.

However, he’s still got plenty of time to reverse the narrative.

Ahead of the January transfer window, West Ham like many clubs across Europe will be assessing the options, and it appears that a former Chelsea flop could be of interest to the Irons.

One area where the Hammers have struggled this season is up front. Their total of 21 Premier League goals scored in 13 games is the second worst of the top 10 teams in the English top-flight.

Most of those goals have come from midfield as the club’s two main strikers, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, have managed just two between them all season – both from Antonio – according to WhoScored.

Whether or not they make it to the knockout stages of the Europa League, it’s abundantly clear that David Moyes needs to bring in a striker with proven pedigree to help West Ham attack the second half of the campaign.

David Moyes needs a striker with a proven pedigree at West Ham

To that end, it makes no sense as to why they’ve a watching brief on Chelsea flop and current RB Leipzig man, Timo Werner.

The 27-year-old has managed a paltry two goals in 234 minutes of action this season per WhoScored – hardly likely to enthuse the London Stadium faithful.

90Min suggest that London rivals Crystal Palace and Fulham are both interested in a loan for a player that has, apparently, been hawked around to a number of Premier League sides.

West Ham’s interest hasn’t stretched that far – yet, though European football could swing any deal for them if and when Werner becomes available and assuming the east Londoners want to get a deal done.

Fulham are looking to go big to land a new number nine at the club in the winter transfer window.

The Cottagers are looking to spend in excess of £40 million to sign a new striker according to a report by Football Insider.

The Cottagers haven’t had the best of times in the ongoing season. They are currently 16th on the points table with 12 points out of 11 matches. Marco Silva’s team have suffered five defeats and have only won thrice.

Their manager’s concern since the start of the 2023-24 season has been their form in front of the goal. They are amongst the lowest-scoring teams in the division. The departure of Aleksandar Mitrović seems to have been a big blow for the team. The Serbian international parted ways with the club in the summer of joining Al-Hilal in what was a big money. They did sign Raul Jimenez from Wolves for a fee of approx £5.5 million but that transfer hasn’t gone according to plan as the Mexican international is yet to find the back of the net.

Mitrović’s departure has reduced their firepower in attack and the Cottagers are now looking for a new number nine to sort things out. They are willing to smash their existing transfer record of £25 million paid to Nice in 2018 to land midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

Fulham are looking to back their manager Marco Silva who has recently penned down a new deal until the summer of 2026. They are ready to offer him whatever help they can to ensure the Cottagers stay in the Premier League for a few more years to come.

Fulham are reportedly prepared to break their club record signing fee in the January window opens.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, who claims the Cottagers are set to prioritise a new forward in the New Year.

Among the Premier League’s lowest scorers following Aleksandar Mitrovic’s move to the Saudi Pro League in the summer and Raul Jimenez continuing to misfire, Fulham’s need for a new striker is obvious.

And with a new hitman top of Marco Silva’s agenda, Fulham are thought to be willing to match their manager’s ambition by sanctioning what would be a club record purchase.

Fulham’s current transfer record signing is the reported £25 million they paid Nice in 2018 to sign midfielder Jean Michael Seri. However, that record won’t be in place for much longer with the London-based club set to splash out more than £40 million on a forward in January.

Names have not been mentioned, but with the club clearly backing their manager, the focus must now turn to identifying the right target to lead the side’s attacking line.

Although they’re sat proudly atop the Premier League and playing some of their best football in years, Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly not an attractive enough proposition for one English top-flight defender after he made a stunning u-turn.

It’s believed that Spurs had earmarked Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo as a new signing, with the player seemingly set to leave the Cottagers, who had also received a confirmed £8.5m offer from Monaco for his services.

However, according to the Evening Standard, the player has now decided to stay in west London after coach, Marco Silva, himself the subject of intense speculation amidst a bid for him to manage in the Saudi Pro League, put pen to paper on a new deal at Craven Cottage.

It’s a big win for Fulham given that, at 26 years of age, Adarabioyo is approaching his prime years as a football player.

For Ange Postecoglou, who already has the excellent Micky van der Ven in situ, he will have to look elsewhere should he feel that his back line could still benefit from having a player with Adarabioyo’s skill set.

Given how well the Lilywhites have started the 2023/24 campaign, however, the Australian may feel that a tweak here or there is unnecessary in January as it could upset dressing room equilibrium.

If things had worked out differently, Bayern Munich would’ve made another signing from the Premier League during the summer window.

As it turned out only Harry Kane arrived from English shores, and what an impact the England captain has made so far.

The former Tottenham Hotspur talisman has 11 goals in 11 games for the Bavarians in all competitions so far according to WhoScored.

At one stage it appeared that Fulham’s Joao Palhinha would be Bundesliga bound, and despite it believed that the player had even posed for photos in a Bayern shirt, the deal wasn’t able to be concluded in time.

Now, as SportBILD note, the entire transfer could be in jeopardy, with Bayern seemingly worried about the combative midfielder’s knee problem.

Joao Palhinha

The outlet do hint at other concerns which has made the hierarchy at the Bavarian club think twice about concluding the deal in the upcoming January transfer window.

Not only will that be a huge blow to the player, who was perhaps looking forward to strutting his stuff in the Champions League and possibly winning the title, but financially for Fulham it’ll be a bitter pill to swallow.

Whatever the party line in public, the Cottagers would arguably benefit from having €65m/£55m (per SportBILD) deposited into club coffers.

Nothing is set in stone as yet and the move could still happen, however, it’s clear that Bayern are being much more cautious now.

At present Leicester City are firing on all cylinders in the Championship under Enzo Maresca.

After eight games, the Foxes are level on points (21) with Ipswich Town at the top of the table, and sit in first place by virtue of a better goal difference.

They’ve won seven of their matches so far, scoring 14 and letting in just five.

There’s a long, long way to go in the 2023/24 season of course, but Maresca’s squad have already hit a sweet spot and have that air of confidence and swagger when they take to the pitch that’s almost worth a goal on its own.

Each player has played their part so far so any thoughts of other clubs coming in to acquire them is likely to be given short shrift by the Leicester board.

According to talkSPORT, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is interesting Premier League outfit, Fulham, with Marco Silva clearly keen to add more quality to the Cottagers squad.

The outlet also note that the 25-year-old is contracted to the club until 2027, so even if the player was interested by their approach, Leicester are unlikely to let him go on the cheap.

Furthermore, aside from loans at Blackpool and Luton Town, Dewsbury-Hall has been at the club since 2006, so it would be a huge wrench for him to leave.

Whilst you can never say never in football Fulham have got their work cut out getting this one over the line, more so if Leicester continue their season in the same manner as which they’ve started it.
