It is uncertain if Mohamed Salah continues with Liverpool beyond the current campaign but if the Egyptian star leaves Anfield, Jurgen Klopp already has one replacement in mind.

The Liverpool winger is Saudi Arabia’s top target for the summer of 2024 after making initial enquiries during the last summer transfer window.

The 31-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires in 2025, therefore, in order to get the best deal from the Saudis, next summer would be the ideal time to sell Salah if he does not sign a new deal.

According to Todofichajes, Jurgen Klopp has Real Betis’ Assane Diao as a potential replacement for his main man next summer.

When the game’s best talent becomes available, both Chelsea and Liverpool would expect to at least be in the conversation.

We recently saw exactly that scenario with the pursuits of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, both of whom chose the Blues over the Reds.

Lavia has yet to make his bow at Stamford Bridge of course, whilst Caicedo is easing himself into life in west London after his record-breaking move from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Both could be joined by Real Betis youngster, Assane Diao, if a move to the club appeals to the 18-year-old.

Mucho Deporte also note Liverpool’s interest in the wonder kid, and it might well be third time lucky as far as Jurgen Klopp is concerned.

With a €30m/£26m release clause the player is well within the grasp of both Premier League outfits financially, and though the Verdiblancos are believed to want to raise this by about €10m, that’s still unlikely to be a problem.

The outlet also note that Betis’ sporting director, Ramon Planes, is aware of potential suitors for the player and, whilst it seems clear their preference is to keep him, Planes will understand the commercial possibilities if they’re able to maximise Diao’s transfer fee and effectively sell him to the highest bidder.

As of this moment, there has been no official word from the player himself or his representatives as to whether they consider Betis remains the best place for him to continue his footballing education.

The talented young winger has five goals in nine appearances across all competitions this season and he is versatile enough to play anywhere across the front three.

Diao has the attributes to develop into a top-class attacker in the near future and a move to Manchester United could accelerate his development. He could be tempted to test himself at a higher level and the Red Devils will be able to provide him with the platform to showcase his ability in the UEFA Champions League as well.

Manchester United spent a significant sum of money on Jadon Sancho and Antony in recent windows. Both players have struggled to live up to the expectations and Manchester United need a reliable winger at their disposal.

Real Betis were stunned at home within three minutes of their Europa League tie against Sparta Prague.

The Spanish top-flight side had clearly underestimated their opponents who went ahead through Veljko Birmancevic.

However, the lead didn’t last long, the hosts gifted a ninth minute equaliser after Peter Vindahl Jensen’s absolute howler.

It handed the incentive back to the verdiblancos though they weren’t able to add to it before half-time.

Liverpool could look to raid Spanish outfit for talented young winger

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Real Betis winger Assane Diao.

According to a report from Fichajes, the 17-year-old winger has attracted the attention of Liverpool with his performances in the under-19 European Championship and it will be interesting to see if the Reds decide to come forward with a proposal to sign him.

Diao is highly rated at the Spanish club and he has a bright future ahead of him. Real Betis are fighting to keep him at the club for the long term.

He could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for the Reds. Liverpool have done well to nurture talented young players under Jurgen Klopp and the 17-year-old could prove to be a key player for the Reds in the coming seasons.

Diao mostly operates on the left of the attack but he is versatile enough to play on the right flank as well.

Liverpool are already lacking in natural wingers with only Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz as their options. Signing the 17-year-old put proved to be a wise decision.
