Although he appears to have settled well in Man United’s Champions League fixtures, Rasmus Hojlund can’t buy a goal for love nor money in the Premier League.

The highly-rated striker is going through one of those periods that strikers hate, where any little thing that can do wrong, does go wrong.

Clearly, everyone connected with the club will be hoping that it’s a blip that soon ends for the player, though that hasn’t stopped the club, apparently, going after another marksman.

According to Football Insider, even though Brighton and Hove Albion striker, Evan Ferguson, has only just signed a new contract with the Seagulls, that hasn’t apparently deterred the Red Devils from making it known that they’ll be keeping an eye on proceedings.

Moreover, the outlet note that United could make a move for the player in the near future.

That would suggest that the club aren’t too enamoured by the purchase of Hojlund after all, and it could be another huge decision from Sir Jim Ratcliffe as he sets his stall out at his new club.

Although it’s believed Hojlund could be back at the end of November, Eriksen is likely to be sidelined for a month.

Whilst United aren’t yet down to the bare bones, it’s clear that by not being able to call upon his first-choice XI, Erik ten Hag is going to see results suffer for his team.

Manchester United are facing additional injury setbacks as Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen have been withdrawn from the Denmark squad due to injuries, per Sky Sports.

Both players had to be substituted early in a 1-0 Premier League win over Luton at Old Trafford. Hojlund, the striker who was signed for £72 million in the summer, suffered a hamstring problem, while Eriksen sustained a knee injury during the match.

The injury woes for Manchester United are compounded by the absence of several first-team players, including Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Jonny Evans, and Amad Diallo due to injuries.

Additionally, Jadon Sancho is still excluded from the squad due to a disciplinary issue, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who had just returned from injury, missed the Saturday game due to illness.

Rasmus Hojlund’s impressive performance for Manchester United against FC Copenhagen, which included a brace, was overshadowed by Marcus Rashford’s red card and the team’s subsequent defeat.

Hojlund’s achievement of scoring five goals in his first four Champions League games for the club is a historic feat, surpassing any player’s start in the competition for Manchester United.

Despite his success in Europe, former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke emphasised the importance of Hojlund carrying his European form into the Premier League.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast Yorke stated: “As a striker, you’re always going to be judged on the number of goals so it’s fantastic for him. You’re always going to need a striker who should be getting you anywhere in the region of 20-25 goals.

“He’s got off to a decent start although I still think he struggles with the Premier League, maybe the demands of the game. It’s different to the Champions League, where it’s a little bit more tactical and you can play at a slightly slower pace.”

In the Premier League the 20-year-old is yet to find the back of the net in eight appearances, which includes seven starts. In those appearances he’s racked up six big chances missed.

Man United are in control of their Champions League clash with Copenhagen in Denmark thanks to the goals of Rasmus Hojlund. 

Erik ten Hag needs a win tonight and his side got off to the perfect start within three minutes as Hojlund latched onto a Scott McTominay cross to make it 1-0.

25 minutes later, the striker completed his brace as the 20-year-old tapped into an empty net following a Man United counter-attack to make it 2-0 and put the Manchester club in a great position to take home all three points.

Manchester United youngster Rasmus Hojlund must be feeling frustrated at his lack of service at the moment, but is not quite senior or proven enough to demand more from his teammates, according to Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand.

The former Man Utd centre-back, speaking on his YouTube show Vibe With Five, admitted that Ruud van Nistelrooy once had a similar issue during his time at Old Trafford, with the Dutch striker lashing out at Cristiano Ronaldo after being so frustrated at the inconsistency of his deliveries into the box.

However, Ferdinand says Hojlund isn’t there yet in terms of being a proven player who can speak out like that with the authority that a world class striker like Van Nistelrooy had at that time.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy more or less had Cristiano Ronaldo in tears almost one day, saying, ‘How can I make my runs when you don’t cross the ball?’ That’s how Hojlund must feel right now with the wide players he’s playing with,” Ferdinand said.

“The difference was Ruud was the main guy in our team, the main goal getter, he had the experience, the gravitas, he could pull up young guys and say, ‘Oi put the ball in the box’ – and he said a lot more than that by the way.

“Hojlund ain’t that guy yet, he’s getting his feet under the table, unless he’s that guy who can pull people up…because he needs to.”

Hojlund joined United from Atalanta during the summer and looks like a promising young talent, but he’s not really going yet since moving to the Premier League, and it might be that fans will need to be patient before getting to see the best of him.

Rashford’s dip for United has been one major issue, but it’s also fair to say that summer signing Rasmus Hojlund hasn’t got going yet either, while it’s a mystery that Anthony Martial remains part of the first-team picture at Old Trafford.

Of course, it’s also clear United’s defence isn’t exactly in the best shape at the moment either, with injuries playing their part, but with goalkeeper Andre Onana also looking highly suspect with a series of individual blunders that have proven costly.
