According to AS, Real Madrid are ready to make a galactico level signing this summer, with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland the names being touted.

Real Madrid are reportedly looking to spend big in the 2024 summer transfer window, by adding an elite attacker to the squad to partner with the likes of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.

They currently sit 2nd in La Liga on 32 points, only two points behind suprise league leaders Girona on 34 points. Madrid have won 10, drew two and lost only one game so far in their opening 13 La Liga fixtures.

Mbappe has made 15 appearances in all competitions for PSG this campaign so far, scoring 15 goals and providing one assist in 1,241 minutes of football.

He has helped PSG to top of Ligue 1, sitting on 27 points, one point above second placed Nice. They are also second of their Champions League group on six points, one point off first placed Dortmund who have seven points after four games.

Haaland has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City so far this campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists in 1,510 minutes.

He has helped Manchester City into first place in the Premier League on 28 points, one point above second placed Liverpool and third placed Arsenal. City are also top of their Champions League group on 12 points, winning four out of four so far.

Man City and Pep Guardiola have received a huge boost ahead of their crucial clash with Liverpool next Saturday as it has been revealed that Erling Haaland’s ankle injury is not serious. 

There were fears over the striker’s fitness after the Norway star suffered a re-occurrence of an ankle issue during the current international break.

However, it has now been revealed by the national team’s medical staff that the player’s ankle problem is “not serious”.

The Norway national team doctor, Ola Sand, has revealed via talkSPORT: “The injury is not serious.

“But he is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function, that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early.”

Haaland will miss Norway’s match with Scotland on Sunday as the 23-year-old will rest ahead of Man City’s big game with Liverpool on Saturday.

The Norwegian striker’s current deal ends in 2025, and as 90Min report, Real Madrid and Barcelona are still interested in bringing him to Spain.

Furthermore, though there doesn’t to be any panic at this point, it’s clear that Man City are in a bit of a race against time to get any new terms or a higher release clause sorted, making it more difficult for potential buyers to acquire him.

With Kylian Mbappe expected to move to Los Blancos next summer, a switch to Barcelona 12 months later would ignite a battle that would be comparable to the Messi v Ronaldo clashes of the past decade.

Were Madrid able to afford Haaland, seeing him play alongside the French World Cup winner, assisted by the likes of Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler et al would surely place Los Blancos back at the pinnacle of world football.

For now, City will need to work hard and fast to persuade Haaland that, in fact, his future remains on the blue side of Manchester.

The Norway national team doctor has revealed the extent of Erling Haaland’s injury that he suffered on Thursday evening.

The Manchester City striker made a half-time appearance off the bench for his national side but went down in the 87th minute clutching his ankle.

Haaland was attempting to poke home a Mohammed Elyounoussi cross but landed awkwardly on his ankle, immediately wincing in pain.

Manchester City fans won’t be happy with his involvement in the game, given that it was a friendly against the Faroe Islands and fear that he could miss the crucial clash with Liverpool after the break.

Norway national team doctor, Ola Sand, revealed the extent of the injury, claiming that his ankle is ‘vulnerable’.

“It was much of the same that happened against Bournemouth a week and a half ago. He has had it before too,” Sand told VG.

“He gets a slight twist in his ankle, where he is a bit vulnerable. It hurts a lot right away, and then it goes away pretty quickly.

“Now he will receive some treatment, then there will be peace and rest and then we will see how he is tomorrow morning.”

The 23-year-old suffered a similar injury against Bournemouth, forcing Pep Guardiola to substitute his star striker after only 45 minutes.

If Haaland is still able to play, he will no doubt feature against Scotland on Sunday in a vital game for his country’s quest to qualify for EURO 2024.

Fabrizio Romano has provided some exclusive insight into the Erling Haaland to Real Madrid transfer rumours that have been doing the rounds.

The Manchester City and Norway striker is undoubtedly one of the best players in world football at the moment, and would very much fit the bill as a ‘Galactico’ signing for Los Blancos, who so often spend big money on world class talents.

Real have mostly been linked with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe in recent times, but fresh media reports from Spain have claimed it’s now Haaland who is in their sights, though it’s fair to say Romano, writing in his exclusive column for the Daily Briefing, is not convinced by these stories.

Whether it’s Mbappe or Haaland, Romano simply says nothing is going to be decided now, with everything quiet for both players, and it perhaps shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that deals of this magnitude are hardly likely to be resolved in November.

City fans can surely breathe a sigh of relief at this news as well, with Romano clearly not convinced by what’s been written elsewhere.
