Nottingham Forest have taken the lead in their clash with Aston Villa at the City Ground courtesy of a stunning strike for Ola Aina. 

Steve Cooper’s side made an intense start to the game and deservedly got a reward for their positivity after just five minutes.

Harry Toffolo pulled the ball back to Aina at the edge of the box and the defender hit a sweet strike, which flew past Emi Martinez in the Villa net to make it 1-0.

West Ham United have reportedly made Torino full-back and former Chelsea ace Ola Aina one of their top targets again.

The Hammers are scouring the market for opportunities to strengthen their squad this January after a difficult start to the season, and Aina is a player who is firmly back on their radar.

Dean Jones has said it’s “feasible” that Aina will move this winter, and West Ham are one of the teams who will be in the running for the 26-year-old’s signature.

“There is still a chance. He is one of the options that they’ve had in mind,” Jones told Give Me Sport.

“Honestly, there are three or four teams at the moment with him on a shortlist. It’s not 100% that he moves in this transfer window at all, but given the amount of interest it does seem like it’s feasible.”

Leeds United are interested in bringing Torino ace and former Chelsea wing-back Ola Aina back to England, according to reports in Italy.

The 25-year-old had a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge earlier in his career, but has since gone on to prove himself in Serie A.

Gazzetta dello Sport now claim Leeds are stepping up their interest in Aina this summer, with Torino also open to doing a deal for the right price.

The Nigeria international may well feel tempted to come back to the Premier League again and take the opportunity to prove himself.

Jesse Marsch will no doubt want to make changes to his squad as Leeds only narrowly escaped relegation last season.

The Whites have been heavily linked with signing Torino full-back Ola Aina which only intensified after the Italian side announced they had reached an agreement to loan fellow right-back Mohamed Fares until the end of the season.

However, after injuring his ACL while on international duty for Algeria in this year’s African Cup of Nations, Torino is now expected to lose Fares, who will return to parent club Lazio, meaning the Serie A side will have little choice but to keep hold of Aina, as per Calciomercato.

Speaking at the end of last year about possible signings, as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post, Bielsa said: “I never said I don’t want players to come in January, as you guys informed I am opposed to it.

“The only thing I said and I reiterate is that to bring in players they should be better than the ones we already have.”

However, with the South American tactician now forced back to the drawing board, Leeds United fans will be wondering if their side will bring in any new faces before the January transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Second season has really hit hard for Leeds United during the 2021/22 campaign.

A breath of fresh air last season, the Elland Road outfit have not only had to contend with an incredible amount of injuries, but they look as though they’ve run out of steam in a number of games.

Marcelo Bielsa, to his credit, although some might say to his detriment, won’t change Leeds’ way of playing, even if that means they get hammered.

Clearly, they need reinforcements, and ideally before they take on West Ham for the second time in a week.

The Hammers just had enough to knock Leeds out of the FA Cup during the past weekend, but there was enough in their play to give fans of the Yorkshire club some heart and belief.

One player that could be on his way to Elland Road, according to Toro News and cited by Teamtalk is Torino’s Ola Aina, who began his career at Chelsea and also had spells at Hull and Fulham.

The player is believed to want a return to England and in an attacking, front-foot side such as Leeds, his wing-back play will be right at home.

Given that he can play on both flanks, he will be an asset for Bielsa, though it’s not clear how much Leeds will have to pay to acquire his services.

If the manager can get things right over the course of the next few weeks, both in transfer and results terms, the threat of relegation will soon dissipate.

Aina, 25, spent last season on loan with then-Premier League side Fulham.

However, after being relegated back to the Championship and failing to see his move made permanent, the 25-year-old was sent back to parent club Torino, where he has since enjoyed a decent 2021-22 campaign in Serie A.

With his contract set to expire next summer, Aina is valued at a very modest £4.95m and would therefore be a relatively risk-free piece of business, should the Whites’ hierarchy opt to back up their interest in the form of a bid.

In the 58th minute of this afternoon’s Premier League clash between Arsenal and Fulham, the Gunners conceded a penalty after a reckless decision from summer signing Gabriel Magalhaes.

A VAR review followed, which looked into both the foul incident on Mario Lemina and a possible offside in the build-up as Magalhaes initially cut out a pass intended for Chelsea academy graduate Ola Aina.

The way in which Magalhaes rushed in to hack down Lemina, however minimal the contact, was never going to be ignored, but the review into offside was very tight, and eventually waved off.

Josh Maja stepped up to the spot and fired the ball into the roof of the net to give the Cottagers the lead, offering them a late relegation escape lifeline after four consecutive defeats.

Chelsea academy product Ola Aina showed the Blues what they’re missing with a stunner for Fulham against West Brom this evening.

Aina joined Chelsea in 2007 at the age of just nine-years-old. He spent essentially his entire development period at Cobham, making his first-team debut in the 2016/17 campaign under the stewardship of Antonio Conte.

The Nigeria international, as many are, was forced to leave Chelsea in search of regular first-team football, with Torino the club fortunate enough to secure his signature.

After a successful stint in Turin, Aina signed for Premier League new-boys on loan in the summer transfer window. If this strike against West Brom this evening is anything to go by, it’ll prove to be an astute bit of business from Scott Parker.

If Chelsea had been watching Aina at Torino they will have been well aware of what an accomplished full-back he has developed into. If he’s able to replicate that performance level just down the road, as it seems he will be, then Frank Lampard will left be wishing he stuck around.

Former Chelsea youngster Ola Aina has sent an emotional goodbye message to the Blues with an Instagram video and caption.

This follows the 22-year-old full-back having been confirmed as leaving the club by their official site earlier this week to join Torino on a permanent deal.

Aina had impressed on loan with the Serie A side and will now be continuing his career there after being sold by Chelsea.

He’s not the first and won’t be the last to leave the west London giants after being shipped out on loan, but it’s clear CFC still mean a lot to him as he sent this farewell message:

As well as a slideshow of pictures from his time with Chelsea, he said: ‘The start of a new chapter. Words can not express how I feel. Joining the club as a ten year old Ola was the best thing that happened to me combined with playing football for the team which I support was just amazing.

‘Now I’m 22, I look back on all the great times I’ve had from: training,going on tours every year and spending time with some amazing players I looked up too most of my life.

‘I’ve also had the pleasure of playing and training with some great players in the 1st team, but most importantly the players that I can call bros from the academy over the years. My best highlights will always be the memories of growing up and becoming a man whilst also improving my craft with these players.

Chelsea have officially confirmed that Ola Aina will join Torino on a permanent basis after spending last season on loan at the Serie A outfit.

The 22-year-old impressed for the Granata, making 30 appearances in Serie A as he established himself as a key figure in Walter Mazzarri’s plans.

It appears as though he has done enough to warrant a permanent move, with Chelsea confirming on their official site that he will move to Turin this summer.

As per Sky Sports, it has been suggested that the deal will see Chelsea pocket a €10m transfer fee, as Aina will now hope to continue to play regularly and improve, with chances seemingly limited at Stamford Bridge moving forward.

It could be considered a questionable decision from a Blues perspective with their transfer ban in mind this summer, as they may well need all the talent and depth possible to compete next season if they are unable to strengthen the squad.

Nevertheless, as noted by Sky Sports, Torino had an option in the loan deal to make it permanent at the end of the season, and so it would appear as though it was out of Chelsea’s hands.

Competition remains fierce in that department though, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Davide Zappacosta available to play on the right side of the backline, and so it’s arguably a deal that suits all parties.

Torino finished in seventh place in Serie A last season, and they’ll hope that they can build on that moving forward by keeping their current squad intact and bringing in reinforcements where possible to kick on and perhaps qualify for Europe next year.
