In Garth Crooks BBC Team of the Week, we saw Cole Palmer feature after his performance against his former side, two Everton players for their win against Palace, and two Liverpool players after their 3-0 win against Brentford.

Palmer was included in Crooks Team of the Week, after his penalty rescued Chelsea a deserved point against his former side Manchester City.

Meanwhile the two Liverpool players included were from either end of the pitch, with Alisson taking the spot in net, and Mohamed Salah in the front three following his brace against Brentford.

Other inclusions were the likes of Dominic Solanke who scored a brace for Bournemouth in their big 2-0 win against Newcastle.

Soucek who scored a late winner for the Hammers against Nottingham Forest to win 3-2 at the London Stadium.

Two Everton players in Vitaliy Mykolenko and Abdoulaye Doucoure for their performances against Crystal Palace in a 3-2 victory for the Toffees.

Arsenal’s William Saliba and Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof both got on the score sheet for their sides, and managed victories to earn their spots in defence.

Whilst the midfield is completed with Pablo Sarabia of Wolves, and John McGinn of Aston Villa, both of which were on the scoresheet for their sides in victories against Tottenham and Fulham.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have equalised with just a few minutes left to play against Tottenham Hotspur during Saturday afternoon’s early Premier League kick-off at Molineux.

Taking an early lead thanks to a close-range finish from Brennan Johnson, Spurs would have been hopeful they could hold on to take all three points.

However, struggling to remain in charge of the game, Spurs’ recent injury crisis, which sees both Mickey van de Ven and James Maddison ruled out until the New Year, quickly became apparent.

With the momentum shifting into the home team’s favour, Gary O’Neil’s side got exactly what they deserved right at the death.

Pablo Sarabia executed a brilliant volley which left opposition goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario with no chance.

Pablo Sarabia has admitted that he prefers “being part of a team” at Wolves compared to PSG in a recent interview with the Telegraph.

Speaking to John Percy, Sarabia revealed his true thoughts on what he believes is the most important thing in football.

It was amazing to play with Messi, Mbappe and Neymar but for me, the most crucial thing is to feel important in the team.

I prefer to be on another team to feel that togetherness, to be part of it and be a member of the team and a family, rather than just a collection of individuals.”

Sarabia joined PSG from Sevilla in 2019 and made 98 appearances over four years in Paris, but played just 21 times across his final two seasons at the club, leading to a loan move to Sporting in 2021/22, for whom he scored 21 times in 45 matches last season.

The 30-year old Spaniard said that he wasn’t happy with his lack of minutes in France and wanted to enjoy his football again in what he called “his prime years”.

“I wasn’t happy not playing. It’s very difficult to play with the level of players at PSG so I made the decision to come here. “In my career I have gone through a lot of difficult moments but now I think I want to enjoy the job because I feel that right now I’m in the prime of my career.”

Sarabia admits he was unhappy not playing in France and wants to enjoy his football again in England

Sarabia has featured in all of Wolves’ games since he touched down at Molineux in mid-January, scoring once, and hopefully he can start enjoying his football once again.

Hello and welcome to my Daily Briefing – every morning I will round up the most important news in football, providing you with exclusive insight, inside stories and everything you need to know for the day ahead – click here to donate a subscription!

Arsenal

I’m told that nothing will be decided now for Declan Rice, also because the player is not leaving in January as things stand. But for sure Arsenal have an interest, as has been reported, and they discussed Declan internally. He’s appreciated by many clubs including Chelsea. But again, it will take time to see where Declan will go; no discussions have taken place on the player’s side yet.

Ben Jacobs recently stated in his column here that Rice’s transfer valuation may have fallen to around the £70-75million mark.

Facundo Torres reveals: “Orlando confirmed to me that there was contact with Arsenal, but then I left for the World Cup… we will see now how it goes. I would love to play in Europe. It’s a dream I’ve had since I was a kid.”

William Saliba: “I am so happy here at Arsenal. The club is speaking with my agent and me on new contract. The only thing I can do is focus on my football, but I am really so happy here.”

Talks are ongoing with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba. All discussions are very positive but it will be time to get deals signed this year. Timing is up to club and player, could be any moment or months.

Aston Villa

Official, completed. Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Chicago Fire for the permanent transfer of the Colombian striker Jhon Duran. The talented 19-year-old has signed a long term contract as the deal is confirmed. Villa will pay $18m guaranteed fee plus $4m potential add-ons.

Atalanta

Many important clubs are monitoring Merih Demiral as Turkish centre back has always attracted interest in the last few years after his performances with Atalanta. He’s one to watch this year as clubs are informed on the conditions of a potential transfer.

Barcelona

Memphis Depay in action for Barcelona

Memphis Depay’s lawyer Sebastien Ledure: “There are no negotiations ongoing for Memphis to join Inter. I can deny all these links — it’s not a possibility we are discussing.”

My understanding is that Depay will leave Barca in January, as Atletico Madrid remain interested.

Franck Kessie’s future depends now on Barcelona. Discussions took place with intermediaries on a possible swap deal with Marcelo Brozovic over last days, but it’s up to Barca and Xavi.

Support Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing – Every morning I will round up the most important news in football, providing you with exclusive insight, inside stories and everything you need to know for the day ahead.

Al-Khaleej

Understand Saudi side Al-Khaleej have now made an approach to sign Bruno Costa from Porto. Discussions remain ongoing for the Portuguese midfielder

Al-Khaleej also approached Isco few days ago but the former Real Madrid man has turned down this possibility.

Arsenal

Arsenal wanted Mykhaylo Mudryk as a priority, but they feel they did their best by making a huge bid. Arsenal have been clear in the last two years: no bidding wars, respecting the club’s strategy, and no panic as with Dusan Vlahovic, Raphinha, Lisandro Martinez. This is their way, and it’s working well for them. Mikel Arteta and Edu have made several superb signings and this team is enjoying an incredible season, now eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

I’ve never doubted that this Arsenal side can be serious title contenders, and they are now the favourites. I see something special in this squad and I keep saying the same – for sure Manchester City have the better and deeper squad, but Arsenal are incredible, the team is amazing.

As for signings in attack, this week Arsenal will decide on the strategy after Mudryk. There are no concrete talks for any of the players mentioned yet; of course agents and intermediaries are offering solutions, Arsenal will take their time. On Raphinha, I’m told he’d really love to stay at Barcelona as priority – we’ll see if it changes this week.

Mikel Arteta on Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea: “We’ve excellent players. We want to improve our squad in this transfer window and I mean myself, the staff, players, the board, and ownership. We’re on it but we will do the deals that we can do and that we believe is right for the club.”

Mikel Arteta on Gabriel Jesus’ return: “Hopefully we will have Gabriel back for the final months, it was a serious injury a bit longer than we expected it. He is gonna to do everything he can to make it shorter but we’ll miss him for a while.”

Confirmed: Arsenal third-choice goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo leaves Crewe to join Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz on loan until the end of the season. The deal was completed yesterday after medical tests.

Barcelona

Raphinha sends clear message: “This is my first trophy with this giant club, this enormous shirt of FC Barcelona — it’s incredible. And so now we go for more trophies.”

Further talks have been scheduled between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for Memphis Depay. No doubts on the player side as Memphis wants the move and he’s set to leave Barca in January, as reported yesterday. Atletico want to anticipate English clubs on Memphis deal.

Chelsea

Graham Potter on Mykhaylo Mudryk deal: “Mykhaylo is a young player with exciting quality in the final third. He is very fast and direct, I like him. I think the crowd will like him!”

Mykhaylo Mudryk: “I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea. This is a huge club, Premier League is fantastic league and it’s a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my team-mates and I’m looking forward to working under Graham Potter.”

Noni Madueke started for PSV yesterday as Chelsea discussions took place during the week but there’s nothing agreed between the two clubs at this stage.

Everton

Everton have offered Anthony Gordon a new deal, let’s see how talks will go in the next months. Chelsea have decided to invest in Mykhaylo Mudryk so they’re not in talks to sign Gordon now. Tottenham monitored him in the last few months but they now feel they need different players as a priority.

Fiorentina

Fiorentina CEO Joe Barone: “I can now confirm that Sofyan Amrabat and Nico Gonzalez are not for sale. The president Commisso already said that — I can confirm the same for both Gonzalez and Amrabat.”

Leeds United

Azzedine Ounahi deal. Leeds have to decide how to proceed with signings after spending big money on Georginio Rutter. The deal is not dead, but other clubs are also moving.

The next week is expected to be key — as Napoli have offered €15m to Angers one week ago.

Liverpool

As reported and as also mentioned here multiple times, I expect Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both have very good chances of leaving Liverpool in June, at the moment new deal talks are very quiet.

Manchester United

I don’t see Manchester United selling important players, the season is still long and so they will make decisions on Facundo PellistriAnthony Elanga but I don’t see Scott McTominay leaving as of now. Newcastle have many midfielders in the list, but no one is close yet.

Newcastle United

Newcastle have a number of midfield players on their list of targets, but none are close to joining at the moment. Despite links with Scott McTominay, I don’t expect him to leave Manchester United this January.

Nottingham Forest

Understand Danilo is expected to land in England imminently in order to undergo medical tests and sign his contract as a new Nottingham Forest player. Palmeiras will receive €20m fee, it will be permanent transfer as reported earlier.

Poland

Talks between Steven Gerrard and the Poland national team are ongoing. Waiting for his final decision but it’s being considered, as reported by Polish press earlier in the week. Polish FA will speak again to Gerrard in order to proceed with discussions.

Southampton

I mentioned in the summer that James Ward-Prowse was attracting interest from West Ham. However, Southampton want to keep him now, this is very clear; we will see in the summer, it’s really difficult to predict summer moves now… it depends on managers, directors, many factors.

Wolves

Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes will fly to England in the next hours in order to undergo medical tests and sign as new Wolverhampton player. Here we go, it’s confirmed. Wolves will pay €17m to Flamengo — also Pablo Sarabia deal will be sealed next week.

Goncalo Guedes future is open as Wolves coach Julen Lopetegui confirms he left him out because of “tactical decision”. Lopetegui also says “Goncalo is our player” but added “anything can happen” in the market when asked about his future.

CaughtOffside via sources in Portugal that Manchester City are still trying to convince Nuno Mendes to come to the Premier League as Paris Saint-Germain lead the race to sign the 19-year-old.

We’ve found that PSG are actively discussing the transfer of talent Mendes with Sporting Lisbon, who are demanding €40m for the promising full-back plus Pablo Sarabia on loan.

Sporting’s interest in Sarabia leaves City with a difficult task of beating the Ligue 1 powerhouses in a transfer battle for Mendes.

Cancelo is the starter for the Citizens at left-back, Zinchenko is called on as a versatile rotation option whilst Benjamin Mendy is currently suspended after being charged with four counts of rape.

Mendes broke into the Sporting first-team during the restart of football in the summer of 2019, the youngster has made 47 appearances for the side, impressing enough to win five caps at senior level for  Portugal already.

PSG reportedly have three players they want to shift before the end of the transfer window – and ALL could do a job for a Premier League club.

The 2021 summer transfer window has been dominated by PSG acquisitions, rather than their work when it comes to trimming their squad, but it does appear as though they’re putting more emphasis on outgoings in the latter stages of the window.

According to a report published by Fichajes, Mauricio Pochettino has identified three players that he no longer needs in his squad and are free to leave if a club comes knowing over the next week.

MORE: Mauricio Pochettino reacts to possibility of PSG signing Man United star

Rafinha

Transfermarkt value: €15M [£12.8M]
Potential buyer: Everton

The Toffees have been one of the market’s biggest penny-pinchers this summer, so if the opportunity to presents itself to sign a player of Rafinha’s calibre for as little as £12.8M, they might find it hard to say no.

Having both Alcantara brothers on opposite sides of Merseyside would also provide an interesting dynamic, while providing Everton with cover for the absent Gylfi Sigurdsson and potentially departing James Rodriguez.

Pablo Sarabia

Transfermarkt value: €25M [£21.4M]
Potential buyer: Tottenham

Pablo Sarabia is a very classy attacking player, whose only crime is not being as good as Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi or Angel Di Maria. He could be a star at a club like Tottenham, were he to get the move.

Regardless of whether Tottenham sell Harry Kane in the final days of the transfer window, signing a creative force like Sarabia, with the jury still out on Dele Alli, would make perfect sense. At £21.4M, the Spaniard would be a shrewd addition.

Layvin Kurzawa

Transfermarkt value: €12M [£10.3M]
Potential buyer: Manchester City

Granted, Man City signing PSG’s sloppy seconds wouldn’t be a particularly good look, but in the preliminary stages of the 2021/22 campaign we’ve been reminded of the total incompetence of Benjamin Mendy.

Time is running out for Pep Guardiola to address his problem at left-back, and even with Oleksandr Zinchenko likely to be the starter going forward, getting Kurzawa in a cut-price deal shouldn’t be ruled out.

According to recent reports, Atletico Madrid are one of three top clubs interested in signing Paris-Saint Germain midfielder Pablo Sarabia.

That’s according to a recent report from Le Parisien (as relayed by AS), who claims the midfielder is set to be axed following the arrivals of Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Gini Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi.

Sarabia, 29, joined Paris-Saint Germain in 2019 following a £16.2m switch from Spanish side Sevilla.

Since arriving two years ago, the industrious midfielder has gone on to feature in 77 matches, in all competitions, directly contributing 33 goals, along the way.

The talented Spaniard’s input has seen him help the French giants lift an impressive six major trophies, including the 2019-20 Ligue 1 title.

However, despite still having three years left on his current deal, the 29-year-old is expected to be sacrificed in order to balance the books following a summer of heavy investment.

Le Parisien claims that alongside Atletico Madrid are also Inter Milan and Lazio all interested in signing the midfielder.

Spain have drawn level with Croatia, with Pablo Sarabia finding the back of the net.

Luis Enrique’s men were firm favourites to progress to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 after this fixture was made.

Croatia, while they do possess individual quality, have a weaker squad than they did at the 2018 World Cup. An era is ending for them, while a new one is beginning for La Roja.

Yet, it was Croatia who took the lead in the contest, if in the most bizarre of circumstances, a freak own goal from Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon.

That was drastically against the run of play, so you’d have expected Spain to waste no time with their attempts to get back into the contest.

Their attempts have now been successful, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Pablo Sarabia finding the back of the net.

Spain have been, by far, the better team in the first-half of this game. You’d expect them to build on this heading into the second-half.

Spain are running riot against Slovakia, with Pablo Sarabia having found the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Luis Enrique’s men headed into this evening’s game without a victory at Euro 2020 so far. Two draws, just the one goal and a bucket load of missing chances – the signs were hardly positive for La Roja.

Tonight’s clash with Slovakia was an absolute must-win for Spain if they wanted to ensure their progression into the knockout stages of the competition, and thankfully for Enrique, it’s proven to be light work.

After an own goal from Martin Dubravka and a fine header from Aymeric Laporte gave Spain a two-goal buffer, they’ve now added a third through PSG’s Pablo Sarabia.

Sarabia found the bottom corner of Dubravka’s goal with a fine left-footed finish, essentially ending the contest and ensuring that Spain would be progressing in Euro 2020.
