Brennan Johnson couldn’t have picked a better time to score his first goal for Tottenham.

Just two minutes were on the clock at Molineux when a brilliant Spurs move tore apart the hosts defence.

Given that Ange Postecoglou was without four of the players that he started with against Chelsea last week, it made the start all the more impressive.

The celebrations that followed the goal, on the pitch and in the dugout, showed just how together this team remain and that bodes well for the Australian whilst he’s unable to pick his first choice XI.

The Tottenham team for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off against Wolverhampton Wanderers was always going to be a much changed XI for Ange Postecoglou.

Premier League table toppers until their loss last weekend against Chelsea, the Australian has, nevertheless, picked an attacking XI once more, showing that he won’t change his playing principles even if the football Gods are determined to do their best to challenge that.

Out go the injured James Maddison and Micky van de Ven as well as the suspended pairing of Destiny Udogie and Cristian Romero, and in come Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Emerson Royal and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The visitors to Molineux will go back to the top of the table with a victory, and will stay there until at least Sunday afternoon when Man City head to Stamford Bridge.

If Pep Guardiola’s side fail to secure all three points against Chelsea, Spurs will remain at the top until the next match day.

Wolves will surely have something to say about the situation, however.

Aside from the loss last time out against Sheffield United, they’ve drawn with Newcastle and Aston Villa and beaten Man City, so they’ll be no pushovers.

Were they to emerge victorious, Wolves could move up a couple of places and see Spurs slide down two if other results go against them.

Tottenham managed to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park to maintain their spot at the top of the Premier League.

The scoring was opened when Maddison flashed a ball across the box, which was turned in by Joel Ward going down as an own goal. The second goal came from Heung-min Son, before Palace scored a consolation goal in the 94th minute.

Read on for our Tottenham player ratings, and who stood out for Spurs…

Guglielmo Vicario – 7 – Made two saves, both coming from inside the box, made one punch and one high claim. Kept a clean sheet.

Ben Davies – 6 – Davies was subbed at half time, but did make quite a few defensive actions down his left flank, making two clearances, one tackle and one block.

Micky van de Ven – 7 – His presence alone kept Spurs much more stable, using his pace and power to shut down any counter attempts. He made four clearances and two tackles.

Cristian Romero – 7.5 – The aggressive defensive partner to van de Ven, getting into the Palace attackers and not letting them settle. Completed four clearances, one block, one interception and one tackle.

Pedro Porro – 6.5 – Made a whopping six tackles defending in wide areas, and pressing high up in the right half space. Also completed five of his eight long balls.

pape s

Richarlison – 5.5 – Quiet game for Richarlison, only managing one key pass and one shot (off target). Subbed after 64 minutes and failed to make a big impact on the game.

James Maddison – 8.5 – Flashed a great ball across the box to force the own goal for Spurs opener, and was at the heart of everything good for Tottenham again.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5 – Very quiet game for Kulusevski along with Richarlison in those wide areas, didn’t manage any key passes, only managed one shot which was blocked and only completed one of his two dribble attempts.

Heung-min Son – 7.5 – Scored Spurs second goal to give them breathing room at an important time, and continue his hot goal scoring form. Also made one key pass and completed his only long ball attempted.

Tottenham managed to beat Fulham 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to return to the top of the Premier League

Spurs won 2-0 with goals coming from Son Heung-min and James Maddison to secure the victory and three points.

Guglielmo Vicario – 7 – Vicario made three saves, all coming from inside the box, and also made one high claim. He kept the clean sheet and did his job.

Destiny Udogie – 6 – Udogie was subbed off after 56 minutes, didn’t do anything wrong but didn’t stand out.

Micky van de Ven – 7 – van de Ven made five clearances, one interception and two tackles. He was really solid at the back and provided a great base for Spurs to attack with freedom.

Christian Romero – 7 – Romero was also extremely solid with van de Ven, making two clearances, one interception and one tackle. He also managed one key pass and made 104 out of his 113 passes.

Pedro Porro – 7 – Porro was effective dropping into midfield areas to get on the ball and help Spurs play out, he made four out of four long balls and did his bit defensively with four tackles.

With top spot in the Premier League at stake, Ange Postecoglou has been able to name an unchanged Tottenham starting XI for the trip to Kenilworth Road against Luton Town.

The Hatters were able to get their first-ever Premier League win on the board last weekend thanks to a brilliant performance at Everton, but they were undone again on Tuesday, losing at home to Burnley.

Spurs are in fine form under ‘Big Ange,’ playing some of the most attractive football seen at White Hart Lane in years.

They’re not just all about pretty passing triangles and can dig in when they need to, as their wins over Sheffield United and Liverpool have proved.

Perhaps the only thing that the manager needs to keep his eyes on is Richarlison’s confidence in front of goal.

It’s clear that there’s a player there, but like all strikers they thrive on service and confidence, and both seem to go hand in hand.

Luton won’t like the tag of being the Premier League’s whipping boys though if Tottenham can get their passing game going, the score could get embarrassing for the hosts.

Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min join the Brazilian up front, whilst James Maddison will be supplying the bullets as usual from midfield.

Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr will shore up the midfield, whilst goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, will marshal Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udgoie in defence.

Tottenham drew 2-2 with Arsenal at the Emirates, with a quality attacking performance from star duo Heung-min Son and James Maddison.

Arsenal took the lead through a deflected Bukayo Saka shot, which went down as a Cristian Romero own goal. However goals from Son Heung-min set up by James Maddison got Spurs back into this game on two occasions, equalising twice from 1-0 and 2-1 down.

Read on for our Tottenham player ratings and who saved Spurs from dropping three points…

Guglielmo Vicario – 7 – Vicario was strong in goal, making 4 saves and 2 high claims. He was also very good in build up for Tottenham, making 31 accurate passes, and having 57 touches.

Destiny Udogie – 6 – Udogie picked up a yellow card for a foul on Bukayo Saka, and made a few early mistakes in possession. However he continued to make life hard for Saka when going 1v1 down the flank, and worked hard throughout.

Micky van de Ven – 7.5 – van de Ven was quality, using his physicality and speed to divert any danger in central areas. A very composed performance from the young man both on and off the ball.

Cristian Romero – 6 – Scored the own goal as Saka’s shot deflected off of him, and received a yellow card for dissent. Was a slightly rash performance from Romero which isn’t an unusual sight.

Pedro Porro – 6.5 – Defended very well down his flank, and a lot of Arsenal’s joy came down the other side. Was also key in build up inverting and getting on the ball to help Spurs build out from the back.

Yves Bissouma – 7 – Bissouma protected the defence really well, making 4 tackles, 1 clearance and 1 block. He also knitted the play together nicely in that first phase of build up for Spurs, with 56 accurate passes out of 59, giving him a 95% completion rate.

Pape Matar Sarr 6.5 – Sarr was very much involved playing box to box, getting stuck in with 17 duels (winning 6 of them) and committing 4 fouls, which saw him pick up a yellow card. His work-rate and dynamism was important for Spurs though, as it kept Arsenal on their toes when receiving the ball in central zones.

James Maddison – 8 – Maddison was quality against Arsenal, getting two assists and playing 3 key passes. He is the creative hub for Spurs and has the license to drop deep to pick the ball up, as well as drift into forward half spaces closer to goal.

Brennan Johnson – 6 – Didn’t quite fall for Johnson on the day, but he worked hard and got involved. Having 2 shots on target before being substituted in the 63rd minute.

Dejan Kulusevski – 5 – Kulusevski worked hard throughout this game, tracking back to help Porro, but didn’t offer much going forward, his final ball and decision making wasn’t quite up to scratch.

Son Heung-min – 9 – The goalscorer on both occasions, and played 2 key passes as well showing his attacking impact in this game. Playing in the more central area allowing him to drift into spaces and get involved more often, as opposed to staying out on the left.

Subs: Manor Solomon 5, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 5, Richarlison 5.

Tottenham produced a dominant performance against Sheffield United yesterday and while the way the game turned out does not reflect it, Spurs were all over their opponents.

However, it was the Blades who took the lead against the run of play in the 73rd minute and it looked as if they are going to cause a major upset but goals from Richarlison and Kulusevski in the dying minutes of the game completed a stunning comeback.

Pedro Porro was one of the standout players in this match, delivering a fantastic performance. A particular skill move by Porro has gained significant attention, as he left his opponent red-faced with a brilliant turn.

AC Milan

  • AC Milan have both Wilfried Singo and Ivan Fresneda on their list for new right back — as talks took place for Singo also today. Fresneda is also appreciated by Barcelona, but still waiting for a deal to advance.

Al Ittihad

  • I understand Al Ittihad coach Nuno has already spoken to Jota about his transfer, which is now considered imminent and set to be completed next week. The fee is going to be around €30m, discussions ongoing.

Al Nassr

  • Al Nassr are prepared to sign all documents for the Marcelo Brozovic deal… and then work to complete the deal to sign Seko Fofana from RC Lens. Brozovic will be the next signing, while Al Nassr delegation is in France now, with negotiations at a very advanced stage.

Arsenal

Atletico Madrid

  • Cesar Azpilicueta’s contract at Atletico Madrid will be valid until June 2025 — I can confirm it’s a two year deal as revealed on Friday, not 1+1. It will be signed next week, it’s done as Chelsea have accepted to let him leave for free, as a matter of respect after a long and successful career at Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona

  • Barca president Joan Laporta: “We are talking to Fenerbahce for Arda Guler. All the top European clubs want him. Arda is a very young Turkish player and it’s is true that our scouting department has been following him for a long time.”

Bayern Munich

  • Bayern are prepared to activate all the procedures to trigger the release clause and sign Kim Min-jae within the next ten days. An agreement has already been reached with Kim on a five year deal, as revealed earlier this week — it’s here we go, confirmed!

Benfica

  • Benfica are expected to complete Angel Di Maria deal next week. Documents are being checked then it will be done and sealed. Di Maria only wants Benfica, as revealed two weeks ago — deal now finally at key signing stages.

Brentford

  • Brentford are set to sign Nathan Collins on a permanent deal from Wolves — done deal and here we go. His medical has already been booked. The fee will be around £23m for the centre-back.

Chelsea

Hull City

  • Liam Delap, taking his first selfie as new Hull City player on loan from Manchester City, with a deal completed yesterday:

Inter Miami

  • Inter Miami president Jorge Mas: “Two or three more players will come. We spoke with Jordi Alba — while Luis Suarez has a contract and a release clause. I don’t know if that will happen or not. All the announcements will be made before July 15.”

Inter Milan

  • Inter are expected to contact Chelsea again next week in order to advance on the Romelu Lukaku deal. A new round of talks could take place, with the new approach expected to be for a loan move with a buy clause and potential payment in instalments.

Liverpool

  • Dominik Szoboszlai: “I’m joining an historical, top club. I’m very happy. The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy! I’m here finally and I really want to tell Liverpool fans that I can’t wait to see them at Anfield, can’t wait to get started. I will be number as I’ve a tattoo from Steven Gerrard. That was a reason why. He was one of the biggest when I was a child. Klopp? Yes, he called me — it’s true. I said: ok, this is going to be a very good thing. Everything was perfect.”
  • Liverpool always planned to sign three midfielders this summer, so what’s next after Mac Allister and Szoboszlai? My exclusive insight here.

Manchester City

  • Manchester City have confirmed and also unveiled Spike Brits as new goalkeeper for the future — he’s joining the City Academy. Done deal now confirmed for the U16 England international from AFC Wimbledon, considered one of the most talented GKs around.
  • It’s a key week for one big-name City player’s future – full details here.

Manchester United

  • Mason Mount will undergo medical tests on Monday and then he’s finally going to sign a five year deal as a new Manchester United player. The contract is until June 2028 — it will also include an option to extend until June 2029. £55m plus £5m to Chelsea. Statement to come this week.
  • Marcus Rashford’s new Man Utd contract is really close – more here.
  • How much truth is there to rumours of Fred leaving United? My latest info here.

Strasbourg

  • Signed, completed: Patrick Vieira has been appointed as new Strasbourg head coach. The deal was completed yesterday following Chelsea owners’ takeover of the Ligue 1 side.

Tottenham

  • Tottenham have officially triggered the buy option clause for Pedro Porro — it was already mandatory, so just formal process completed. €40m fee to Sporting for Porro, who’s now 100% a Spurs player.
  • Tottenham have reached verbal agreement with Manor Solomon, here we go! A deal is in place, and medical tests have been scheduled for Tuesday. Solomon has agreed personal terms. He’ll be joining Spurs as a free agent on a five-year deal — if all goes to plan with Shakhtar and FIFA rules.

Watch Pedro Porro rifle a shot past Joel Robles from a tight angle to double Tottenham’s lead over Leeds to edge them closer to relegation.

Again, it’s a terrible start to a half for Leeds who really haven’t helped themselves and Porro has taken advantage of some slack defending to make it 2-0 to the London side.

Harry Kane turned provider this time after he made it 1-0, as he did really well to make it past two Leeds players in midfield, driving forward and passing to an advanced Porro on the right, who had plenty of time to manoeuvre his body and fire a shot across Robles.

Surely there is no way back for Leeds now, as their three-year stay in England’s top division looks to be coming to an end.
