The goal came from a Marcus Rashford cross into the penalty area which caused havoc before falling to Reguilon. The former Spurs full-back fluffed his line but the ball ends up perfectly for Lindelof who calms slots it into the back of the net with a great finish.

Rasmus Hojlund had a golden opportunity to give Manchester United an early lead against Luton Town but ended up missing an absolute sitter.

Maguire’s clearance cum pass set up Rashord on the right with plenty of space who delivers a cross into the box. The deflected cross lands straight to Hojlund who is 5 yards out but somehow fails to score from there.

The keeper needs to be credited for the excellent save as well but the Danish striker should have scored.

The FA have released a statement to address the tragedy chanting heard during Luton Town’s clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The newly promoted Premier League club had a huge result against the Reds as it took a last-minute equaliser from Luis Diaz to earn Jurgen Klopp’s men a point.

However, this significant result was overshadowed by tragedy chanting heard from Luton fans towards the away section and the FA addressed this issue with a statement on Monday.

The statement read: “We are aware of the tragedy chanting during yesterday’s Premier League fixture between Luton Town and Liverpool, and we are seeking further observations from Luton Town and further detail from the police.

“We strongly condemn chanting of this nature and will continue to work closely with our stakeholders across the game, including the clubs, leagues, fan groups and the relevant authorities to proactively address the issue.”

Jamie Carragher called the disgusting chants out during Sky Sports’ broadcast of the match as it is an issue that is very close to the hearts of people from Liverpool.

The songs heard at Kenilworth Road are something Liverpool fans deal with on a weekly basis and it has no place in football and should be punished severely.

Using tragedies and death as a form of pointing scoring over rival supporters should be eradicated from the game and the FA needs to do more to ensure that it stops.

Jamie Carragher doesn’t believe that his old side can win the league until they bring in another defensive midfielder and defender.

Liverpool saved their blushes against Luton Town thanks to a late equaliser from the returning Luis Diaz.

Tahith Chong scored the opener for the home side just ten minutes prior, sending the home fans wild as they dreamed of an upset.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s side scored late on, he will view the game as points dropped instead of gained as they struggle to stay in touching distance of first place.

The Reds face defending champions Manchester City in a few weeks and will need to pull out a result if they have ambitions of winning the league this season.

Luis Diaz scores against Luton Town

But Jamie Carragher doesn’t believe that they can, at least not until they bring in a defensive midfielder and another defender.

“Liverpool still aren’t as good as Man City at stopping counter-attacks,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“Liverpool are a team who dominate possession, they have a lot of the ball, but they’re not quite as good as Man City off the ball so there are more turnovers and they lose the ball.

“Opponents do seem to find spaces a lot more to and attack and get in behind Liverpool. Luton didn’t have the quality to really punish them, except for the goal we saw.

“Liverpool in midfield are improved from what we saw last season, but they still haven’t got a top holding midfielder.

“(Alexis) MacAllister isn’t a top holding midfielder. He’s good on the ball in terms of receiving, but defensively, he finds it really tough and he lacks a bit of pace for that position.

“In the back four, Liverpool could do with not so much a player for a specific position, but just a great defender who can almost play in a couple of positions.”

Jamie Carragher called out a section of Luton supporters for offensive chants during their draw with Liverpool at Kenilworth Road.

Jurgen Klopp’s side fought back to equalise against the promoted side late on, thanks to a powerful header from Luis Diaz.

During a period of the second half, some Luton supporters could be heard chanting  ‘always the victim’  at the travelling Liverpool supporters.

Carragher, who was on commentary for Sky Sports, immediately pointed it out on the broadcast.

“At the start of the season, I was involved in something about tragedy chanting and supporters coming together,” said Carragher via the Liverpool Echo.

Luis Diaz scores against Luton Town

“I have just heard something a couple of times in this game. Supporters have got to have rivalry but we are better than that. A lot of clubs have been guilty of that over the years but football fans are better than that.”

Although Klopp’s side narrowly avoided defeat against Luton, it will feel like two points dropped rather than one point gained.

With the game against Manchester City peering over the horizon, a win was necessary to keep them engaged in the title race as we enter the busy Christmas period.

Darwin Nunez has just missed an absolute sitter for Liverpool.

Liverpool have found it difficult to break the Luton defense so far but they had the golden chance to break the deadlock in the 70th minute.

Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered an excellent cross to Salah, and his headed effort fell to Nunez, who had the simple task to tap the ball into an empty net. However, somehow Nunez ended up lashing the ball into the stands, leaving everyone in disbelief.

Nunez has missed some goals since joining Liverpool but this is up there with the worst of them all.

Luis Diaz has been named in Liverpool’s squad for their clash with Luton Town on Sunday and ahead of the match, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up about the situation surrounding the winger.

Diaz missed the Merseyside club’s games with Nottingham Forest last Sunday and Bournemouth midweek as his parents were the victims of a kidnapping back in his home country of Colombia.

His mother was found safe on the same day as the crime occurred but the whereabouts of his father is still unknown.

However, Colombia’s National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrillas are believed to be the people behind the kidnappings and said on Thursday that the group will free the father of Liverpool star, reports ESPN.

Diaz trained this week with the rest of Jurgen Klopp’s squad and the Liverpool boss opened up about how it has been for the Colombian this week ahead of kickoff at Luton.

Jurgen Klopp and Luis Diaz

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kickoff, Klopp said about the Diaz situation via Neil Jones: “It’s still pretty emotional, but Luis decided three days ago that he wanted to join training. As I said before, football pitch, training ground is a safe place for the boys, where they can forget, for a few minutes at least, everything that is going on.

“All the signs he gets, I understand, are very positive. Negotiations are still ongoing, but all very positive. That’s why he wanted to be part of the team. Nobody can really imagine how something like that feels.”
