Friday night’s top-of-the-table Championship clash between Leicester City and Leeds United offers the all whites the chance to begin to reel in the table toppers.

The Foxes have stormed the division so far winning 13 of the 14 matches, and another against their closest rivals other than Ipswich Town will really cement them as runaway leaders.

However, manager, Enzo Maresca, is taking nothing for granted and has admitted that there are three players in particular that he’s worried about.

“We know they are good in transition, but they are not only good in transition,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“Summerville, James, Gnonto, they are very quick, we need to be careful. More than ever, we need many passes before we attack. If we attack quick, they will attack quick. We don’t want that.”

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville could soon be one to watch on the transfer market, according to Fabrizio Romano in the latest edition of his exclusive column for the Daily Briefing.

The highly-rated young Dutchman had interest from Premier League clubs during the summer, according to Romano, who named the likes of Everton, Burnley and Bournemouth as being among his suitors at that time.

However, on that occasion Summerville decided to stay at Leeds, despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, where he’s now catching the eye with some sparkling form for Daniel Farke’s side.

It could be that Leeds now face losing Summerville this winter, with Romano suggesting the 22-year-old’s situation could soon change and that there is a lot of interest in him, which perhaps points towards the player returning to the Premier League in the near future.

Crysencio Summerville to leave Leeds United?

Discussing Summerville’s situation ahead of the upcoming January window, Romano said: “I mentioned Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley as clubs interested in Crysencio Summerville last summer but he decided to stay at Leeds.

“In January it could change – I’m not aware of anything advanced yet but this could change in the next few weeks as many clubs are following him, though I can’t comment on any concrete names for the moment.”

Leeds United could reportedly be in a difficult situation in this January’s transfer window as key player Crysencio Summerville looks likely to leave.

According to latest reports, the talented 22-year-old is attracting Premier League interest again after also being linked with top flight clubs during the summer.

Summerville first burst onto the scene last season but couldn’t do enough to help keep Leeds in the Premier League.

Now, however, he’s continuing to improve in the Championship and he’s bound to be important for Daniel Farke’s side as they chase promotion.

According to transfer journalist Suleyman Ozturk, there is now bound to be fresh interest in Summerville this January.

“He is one of, if not the best player in the Championship,” Ozturk said.

“Clubs will come for him in January. Because they are looking for players who can make a difference. And he can.

“He is important with through passes, pulls two to three opponents with him and can play someone out.

“He reminds me a bit of Kaoru Mitoma. He really is a complete left winger. The Championship is a playground for him.”

Things are really beginning to look up for Leeds United after a shaky start to the season, with Daniel Farke starting to get the best out of his squad.

They currently sit in third position in the Championship table, a ‘best of the rest’ consider they’re at least nine points behind second place Ipswich Town, a gap that will increase to 12 points if they win their game in hand.

The motivation for Farke and the Elland Road outfit is to start chipping away at the points gap and start reeling in Ipswich and runaway leaders, Leicester City.

Out of the top three, Leeds are the team under the least amount of pressure given that the top two need to keep winning and ensure the gap remains.

One player that’s been a threat to opposition sides in every game he plays is Crysencio Summerville.

The match winner against Norwich, Summerville has been an integral part of Leeds’ rise up the table.

Fortunately for Farke and the Leeds faithful, despite Premier League interest it’s believed that the player wants to hang around in Yorkshire.

A January exit is by no means guaranteed because he is integral to Leeds at the moment. Naturally, there’s going to be interest, as there was over the summer. Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley, for example, have all looked at the player,” journalist, Ben Jacobs, told Give Me Sport.

“But it’s a very different situation to Wilfried Gnonto, who ended up staying but tried to force his way out of the club and then eventually apologised to Daniel Farke. Angus Kinnear, Leeds’ chief executive, played a big role in smoothing that situation over.

“With Summerville, he was a model professional and has a very strong relationship with Farke. In many ways, it was the player himself that wanted to stay at Leeds last summer, rather than drive an exit.

“That is highly significant in all of this because Summerville really likes Leeds and is settled at Leeds. He felt, over the summer, that Leeds was the best place for him to be, which means that Leeds have got a bit more control over this one than with Gnonto.”

As long as the wide man can remain free of injury and continue with his good form, Leeds have a good chance to keep themselves in the automatic promotion conversation until the last knockings of the 2023/24 campaign.

An epic 3-2 comeback win for Daniel Farke’s Leeds United at his former club, Norwich City, this past weekend owed much to the bravery of some of his players as they went for an all-out attack after going 2-0 down, however, the manager still wants more out of one particular star.

Farke knows exactly what it takes to get a team promoted from the Championship to the Premier League having done so with the Canaries, and he deserves all of the plaudits for taking a gamble in a game which was looking likely to end in defeat.

The three points earned took Leeds up into third position in the English second-tier, and now the Yorkshire-based outfit will look to reel in Ipswich Town and Leicester City who are six and 11 points ahead of them respectively.

Match winner against Norwich was Crysencio Summerville, scoring two goals of the highest quality.

The rapid attacker is really coming into his own this season, though Farke wants more from him.

“Crysencio is a baller, it’s more like it’s a joy to watch him. This is why we all come into the stadium because when you see a guy touching the ball like he does, it’s heart-warming,” he was quoted as saying by Leeds Live.

“But the one thing we always speak about with him about and talk with him about, we want him to improve his effectiveness and we need goals, we need assists, we need end products. This is also the final step in order to find also his next step in his career, end product.”

It’s that kind of attention to detail and consistent pressure on his players to keep them on their toes that gives Farke the edge as a manager and coach.

Rather than resting on their laurels, the German is forever demanding more and, at this stage, his players are responding.

Crysencio Summerville is reportedly a man in demand after he netted an important brace during Leeds United’s win over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

That’s according to leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims the 21-year-old attacker is attracting some high-profile interest ahead of the January transfer window.

Summerville’s brace proved decisive during yesterday’s match at Carrow Road. Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Daniel Farke was forced to deliver an inspiring team talk and his men did not let him down.

Netting in the 77th and 85th minute, Summerville’s quick-fire double fired the Whites to a dramatic victory and ensured all three points would be heading back to Elland Road.

The attacker’s heroics could come at a price though. After being wanted by a trio of Premier League clubs in the summer, including Burnley, Bournemouth and Everton, the young forward is now expected to amass even more unwanted attention ahead of the mid-season window.

Ahead of their Wednesday night fixture against Queen’s Park Rangers, Leeds United boss, Daniel Farke, has a bid decision to make.

The all whites head into the fixture in ninth place, but just one win away from Sunderland in fourth position.

The west Londoners, meanwhile, are struggling without a win in their last four games, and will surely want to improve on their current 22nd position.

Playing in front of a packed Elland Road, it’ll be a big ask for QPR to get anything from the game, however, any complacency from the hosts could see them come unstuck.

Farke has tapped into the dynamism and spirit that his squad have shown in abundance of late, and any decisions he makes at present need to be with how well things have gone over the past few weeks in mind.

A loss against Southampton notwithstanding, wins and draws for the all whites have become something of a good habit of late.

The old football cliche that you don’t change a winning team is true to an extent, though if certain individuals aren’t producing the level of performance that you know they’re capable of, it’s an easy decision to bring in someone else to shake things up a bit.

Speaking on the Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, BBC journalist Adam Pope agreed that maybe it was time for Farke to be handing loan signing, Jaidon Anthony, his long-awaited debut.

“I really like the look of (Jaidon) Anthony so far. All his sub appearances, I think his delivery could be more consistent than (Crysencio) Summerville’s at the moment, I think he gets the role more where as I think Summerville’s a bit too off the cuff, and that causes issues for delivery into the front men,” he said.

“So I’d love to see Anthony start, I really would, and he’s got to be close.”

Leeds United were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Southampton on Saturday and Don Goodman was absolutely furious with one star after what he did against the Saints at St Mary’s.

Overall, it was a really bad performance from Leeds as Daniel Farke’s team were well-beaten thanks to goals from Adam Armstrong, Will Smallbone and a Pascal Struijk own-goal, before the Dutch defender pulled one back that ultimately meant nothing.

One player who had a bad day at the office was Crysencio Summerville and Goodman was not happy with the 21-year-old while doing commentary for Sky Sports.

Summerville failed to track Kyle Walker-Peters at one point in the game with his team struggling which infuriated Goodman.

“If anything had come from that, Crysencio Summerville would have been feeling the wrath of Daniel Farke I’m sure,” he said.

“He let Kyle Walker-Peters go way too easily, way too easily. Has to be more urgency than this, look where Kyle Walker-Peters picks this up, and look how easily Summerville just lets him go. ‘I’m not going to chase you, yeah I think I’ll start jogging now’.

“If anything comes from that in my day you’re getting pinned up against the dressing room wall. I know we don’t do that anymore but, needs to do better. Needs to have more desire, needs to have more hunger.”

After a magnificent home performance against Watford, Daniel Farke’s Leeds side have jumped up to fifth in the Championship table.

Their win was so comprehensive that it should have those teams around them sitting up and taking notice.

Though it’s taken eight games for the all whites to hit their stride, if Saturday’s performance is the benchmark, then Leeds are likely to have a brilliant season ahead of them.

Wave after wave of attacks left the Hornets defence bamboozled at times, and no one was more dangerous than Crysencio Summerville.

“I just feel with wingers these days, it’s very easy to come inside and pass the ball off. Whereas I believe he has the ability, especially him – the other wingers we have are good players as well – but Summerville for me is the one where if you get the ball to him at the right time, I don’t want to see him turn back, I want to see him take the full-back on because they are worried, and rightly so,” pundit, Ross McCormack, noted on BBC Radio Leeds (h/t MOT Leeds News).

“Can you imagine someone with that pace and power running at you? He can go inside, can go outside, what can you do? You’re going to have to bring him down.”

The games continue to come thick and fast for Leeds, and if they’re able to play as well as they did on Saturday over the next half a dozen Championship matches, there’s no reason why they can’t bring the top three back within reach.

At present, Preston North End are on 20 points, seven ahead of fourth placed Sunderland, who are level on points with Leeds and Norwich. Leaders Leicester and second-placed Ipswich Town are on 21 points.

Given how well Leeds did at Portman Road recently, winning an absolute thriller, there’s no reason why a confident Leeds side can’t push on from this point.

Farke will surely be delighted to see his methods coming to fruition on the pitch and his daily driver is to ensure more of the same.

Leeds United picked up a 2-2 draw against Cardiff City in the Championship on Sunday.

Crysencio Summerville produced an impressive performance for his side against Cardiff and he scored a vital stoppage-time equaliser for the Whites.

The 21-year-old was lively throughout the game and he was one of the main threats from Daniel Farke’s side.

Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has now slammed the 21-year-old winger for the lack of respect during the game. Summerville was blasted for diving during the draw against Cardiff City and Sutton labelled his antics as hideous.

He added that the 21-year-old is a good player who needs to show more respect and stop driving.

“It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, we will hunt the divers down and we will call them out,” said Sutton. “But the winner (of this week’s simulation game), Crysencio Summerville from Leeds.

“I mean, it was hideous. Why?! Show a little respect, Summerville. You are better than that. Just stop it. Stop diving. We will call you out. You are a good player.”

Leeds United will be desperate for promotion back to the Premier League this season and it remains to be seen whether the likes of Summerville can help them return to the top flight next summer. The 21-year-old has been a key player for the club since joining them and he is likely to play a vital role for them this season as well.
