Eddie Howe and his Newcastle side will have been delighted with a hard-fought win over Brentford at the weekend, coming as it did after three successive Premier League defeats and ahead of their first Champions League match in over two decades against Milan.

A handful of his regular first-team stars have been off the boil for the majority of the 2023/24 English top-flight season, and whilst the manager appears ready to persevere with them, he does have a number of players in reserve that could be utilised.

The issue for Howe is that all of them – eight in total – are within a year of having their contracts up at the club, and there’s surely got to be good enough reasons why he hasn’t called upon the majority of them on a regular basis before now.

According to The Mag, Fabian Schar, Paul Dummett, Mark Gillespie, Loris Karius, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Javier Manquillo and Matt Ritchie will all be free to leave in June 2024 if the Magpies haven’t decided to extend their deals.

Whilst it’s accepted that some of those named won’t be part of Howe’s plans regardless, some could well need to be called upon because of injuries and/or suspensions.

Financial Fair Play could also dictate what happens with the players, as Newcastle and every other club now need to work well within that framework.

Not everyone is in tune with what Eddie Howe is doing at Newcastle it seems, with one of his first team staff members seemingly waiting for the perfect opportunity to get out of St. James’ Park.

It’s always difficult when a team is in transition for the manager to not only be in a position to buy the right players, but also know when it’s the right time to ease others out of the door.

That could mean extended spells on the sidelines which in essence says everything by saying nothing at all, with players eventually getting fed up not playing matches and therefore saving the club a job in getting rid of them.

For Loris Karius, he’s barely featured at the club, and whilst that would be reason enough in itself to look for alternative employment, the goalkeeper has an altogether more personal reason.

According to Corriere della Sera he wants to be closer to his wife and daughter who currently reside in Italy, though that wouldn’t necessarily be his ultimate playing destination.

“It is a possible solution, which I consider. It could happen in the future. As a child I followed Inter, Milan and Juve matches on TV. But I don’t want to move only based on Aria (daughter) and Diletta (wife). I’m waiting for a good job opportunity,” he was quoted as saying in an interview with the outlet.

“Most of the time we are distant, of course. We talk a lot on the phone, we make video calls with FaceTime. Diletta comes to visit me as soon as she can, but it’s not easy.”

The likelihood of him being able to force his way into regular first-team contention at Newcastle is minimal, and unless there are injuries to those ahead of him in the pecking order, he’ll stay out of the picture.

Therefore, a move away makes sense for all parties.

Newcastle United reportedly look set to allow a large number of first-team players to leave this summer.

As many as eight senior players could be offloaded in this transfer window, according to journalist Jacob Whitehead.

Newcastle are closing in on the signing of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, and other big targets are sure to be on their radar, but it may require some player sales first.

Whitehead has named the players who could be on the way out of St James’ Park, with Ryan Fraser, Jamal Lewis, Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick, Javier Manquillo, Loris Karius, Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow’s futures all in doubt.

Eddie Howe and his backroom staff at Newcastle will likely be working overtime at this point to have the club in the best possible position ahead of the summer transfer window.

Whilst the players can have some valuable time off in order to recharge batteries ahead of what’s expected to be a demanding campaign in both the Premier League and Champions League, Howe will need to assess exactly where he wants to improve his squad.

The Magpies have been a recent success story under the new ownership, but not everyone is going to be able to be taken along for the ride.

Even players that have served the club well over the years won’t be immune to a transfer if the club deem it to be the most sensible thing for them to do.

To that end, one player could soon be on their way, and perhaps to a Championship struggler to boot.

Karl Darlow has been with the St. James’ Park outfit for eight years since signing from Nottingham Forest (WhoScored), and spent the last few months on loan at Hull City.

Given that he appears to be behind both Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka in goal at Newcastle, it makes sense for the 32-year-old to move on.

According to The Sun, Hull are one of the teams looking to acquire the custodian, with north east neighbours Middlesbrough also rumoured to be interested.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Loris Karius faces an uncertain future this summer, but his girlfriend seems pretty clear about what she wants him to do.

The German shot-stopper is being linked with clubs in Serie A, and she admits she’d be much more comfortable being with him in cities like Milan or other places in Italy than in Newcastle.

“Would I like (Karius to be) closer? Selfishly yes,” his partner Leotta told Gazzetta dello Sport. “But, at the same time, I wish him the best for his career.

“I don’t deny that it would be nice to see him play near me. Perhaps around Milan, or in Lombardy or in Liguria. In short, we can move throughout Northern Italy, but also to the centre or the south.

Eddie Howe has overseen a superb Premier League season at Newcastle United, and a mid-season blip notwithstanding, they may have been even closer to Arsenal and Manchester City than the 13 and 14 points respectively that they currently trail them by.

A whisker away from a first piece of major silverware in decades too, it’s clear that the manager has his squad dancing to his tune.

A tune that is being enjoyed by the thousands of Magpies disciples that have come flooding back to St. James’ Park, which has been packed to the rafters each time Newcastle have played at home in the 2022/23 season.

For all of the good that Howe’s appointment has done for the club, there will be members of the first-team squad disillusioned by not having had a chance to be able to stake their own claims.

Despite the onset of an expected Champions League campaign as well as domestic challenges in 2023/24, which would arguably mean the need for a fuller squad, Football Insider say that Howe is preparing to cut seven players adrift.

Loris Karius, Karl Darlow, Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett, Emil Krafth, Matty Longstaff and Matt Ritchie will all leave the club according to Football Insider sources.

Many of those names haven’t been able to dislodge those players who have routinely earned the trust of their manager, and to that end, trimming the wage bill significantly would appear sensible.

Albeit, some new players will need to be bought in order to pad out the squad for a long, hard season ahead.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe wants new deals to be given to two out of contract players this summer

Eddie Howe is said to want the contracts of Loris Karius and Paul Dummett extended to avoid them leaving at the end of the season.

This is according to the Athletic’s Chris Waugh, who said in a recent fan Q&A that Dummett and Karius are the only two players that Howe wants back at the club next season.

“Paul Dummett, Loris Karius, Matt Ritchie, Mark Gillespie, Matty Longstaff and Ciaran Clark are into the final few months of their contracts. Of those, Howe is considering keeping Dummett and Karius, but the others are expected to leave.”

Karius has been Newcastle’s third-choice keeper this season, his only appearance for the club to date coming in the Magpies’ Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester United, while Dummett has made just one appearance this season, in the EFL Cup first round against Tranmere Rovers in August.

Karius did himself no harm to his reputation at Wembley against United, performing well, while you’d imagine that Howe is keen to keep Dummett around next season as an experienced head for the dressing room – the Welshman may have seen his appearance total decrease in the past four seasons, but 205 games for the Magpies since he joined the club in 2012 is a great achievement.

Loris Karius will be forever known as the keeper that handed Real Madrid the 2018 Champions League on a silver platter, but now his girlfriend, Diletta Leotta, has made a monumental gaffe of her own.

The former Liverpool stopper is trying to rebuild his career at Newcastle, and did a reasonable job in the recent Carabao Cup final against Manchester United.

It’s been a long way back from that fateful night in Kyiv, Ukraine, for the custodian, so one can only imagine his thoughts as his girlfriend took to social media to post a photo… of her standing beside Real Madrid’s Champions League trophies at the Santiago Bernabeu.

29-year-old Newcastle player’s agent has offered him to Euro giants

Newcastle United goalkeeper Loris Karius is keen on leaving the club at the end of the season.

Apparently, clubs like AC Milan and Inter Milan are keen on signing the German goalkeeper. His agent has already offered the player to AC Milan on a free transfer as per CMW.

The Newcastle goalkeeper impressed with the rare appearance for the Magpies in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United when Nick Pope was suspended and Martin Dubravka was cup-tied.

Apparently, the player wants to spend more time with his partner who is an Italian presenter for DAZN.

Karius will be out of contract at the Premier League club on the 30^th of June and it would be ideal for him to move on.
