Leeds United owner Andreas Radrizzani is a big fan of young midfielder Lewis Bate but is reportedly set to sanction a summer loan move.

That’s according to journalist Joe Donnohue, who claims the 19-year-old ‘could be the next Leeds United youngster heading on loan after Jamie Shackleton’.

Interest in Bate is believed to be coming from multiple League One clubs.

It has also been noted that an impending loan move could be why Bate was not included in Jesse Marsch’s pre-season squad.

Leeds United set a lot of stock in recruiting and bringing through younger talents in order to develop them into top players. Not only a smart strategy financially, it also ensures a constant flow of youth into the side.

That was the idea when Leeds recruited Lewis Bate from Chelsea last season for a fee of £1.58m for an 18-year-old without a single appearance for the first team. One of the most highly rated central midfielders coming through in the youth ranks, the idea was that Bate would get the opportunities to grow in the Premier League.

Yet so far it hasn’t worked out for either party. After his first season in Yorkshire Bate has made just four senior appearances amounting 191 minutes in total. Three of those came in the Premier League and the other coming in the FA Cup, where he was hooked at half-time against West Ham.

The latest blow to Bate’s progression is being left out of Leeds’ preseason tour to Australia. The English midfielder will stay in Yorkshire and train there, but it’s a clear sign that manager Jesse Marsch does not trust him for next season.

Journalist Adam Pope reported that both Bate and fellow midfielder Jamie Shackleton are being linked with a loan move out of the club.

While it’s important not to place too much importance on a disappointing year at such an early stage in Bate’s career, Leeds will be hoping a loan move can kickstart his progression and they can see some return on their investment.

Following Marcelo Bielsa’s exit from the club last weekend, American manager Jesse Marsch has now been entrusted to try and keep Leeds United in the Premier League.

After a period of abysmal form, including thrashing against Liverpool (6-0) and Tottenham Hotspur (4-0), Bielsa was relieved of his duties with the club working to quickly appoint Marsch as the South American’s successor.

With the Whites now moving in a new direction under Marsch, a former manager of German side RB Leipzig, a recent training clip has revealed that the American coach has brought both Sam Greenwood and Lewis Bate back into first-team contention.

Both players, who have just six senior appearances between them, were with the club’s under-23s side, but now appear to have been promoted back to the first-team.

Just a day after confirming the signing of Lewis Bate, Leeds United have turned to Chelsea again, this time by making an approach to sign Conor Gallagher on loan, according to the Athletic.

The Athletic report that a central midfielder is now the ‘top priority’ for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, with the club even having personally pitched a switch to Elland Road to Gallagher already.

Gallagher has really established himself as one to watch over the last two seasons with a brilliant campaign in the Championship with Charlton and Swansea followed by solid displays in the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion last season.

The 21-year-old was one of the few bright sparks for a Baggies side were relegated as Gallagher started 28 of his 30 top-flight appearances in 2020/21.

Conor Gallagher performed well for West Brom last season.

Leeds do not have a clear path at recruiting Gallagher as things stand as they’ll have to rival Crystal Palace for the England youth international, with the Eagles ‘seriously interested’ per the Athletic.

It’s also noted that Chelsea would likely look to tie Gallagher down to a new contract before a loan move is sanctioned, so it could still take some time for a deal to come to fruition.

Gallagher is the kind of energetic player that could flourish in the system that Marcelo Bielsa deploys at Leeds, the ace now looks to have the choice of joining a entertaining side that finished 9th in the Premier League or staying in London and playing a part in Crystal Palace’s rebuild.

Leeds United are reportedly closing in on a transfer deal for Chelsea youngster Lewis Bate.

The 18-year-old looks a promising young player coming through at Stamford Bridge, but it seems he’s set to continue his career elsewhere with a move to Elland Road.

Bate might not make an impact immediately, but he has the potential to soon be a first-team player at Leeds and make an impact at Premier League level.

Chelsea’s academy has produced plenty of gems in recent times, most notably in the form of Mason Mount and Reece James, and if Bate is anything close to those two, he could end up being a superb signing for Leeds this summer.

Chelsea appear to have no chance of stopping one of their standout youth players from leaving the club this summer as Myles Peart-Harris has already bid farewell to his Blues teammates, per the Athletic.

Peart-Harris, who has been with the Blues since the age of eight according to their official site, is alongside Lewis Bate and Valentino Livramento in refusing to sign a contract extension.

With the trio just starting out the final years of their deals, Chelsea have no choice but to negotiate their sales this summer, otherwise they could lose the prospects for minimal compensation fees in a year.

The Athletic report that Peart-Harris, the joint-top scorer across the youth sides last season with 11 goals in 23 appearances, has bid farewell to his pals as a transfer to Brentford is close to being sealed.

Peart-Harris primarily features as an attacking midfielder, but has shown versatility over the years as he’s also been called on as a winger, centre-forward, defensive midfielder and even right-back.

The Blues are resigned to losing some very exciting talents this summer, who are keen to land themselves new clubs where the path to first-team football will be much clearer.

Whilst Peart-Harris appears to be the closest to officially securing an exit, Bate is the one that is not hiding his interest at all as the highly-rated midfielder has went on a Leeds following spree on Instagram.
