“Unless West Ham suddenly find themselves in crisis and need crisis management, that’s the only time I could see them going for somebody with huge experience as their next appointment.

“I would expect them though to go for somebody who’s younger, more forward-thinking and is more in tune with the way that the game is heading in the next 10 years, rather than how it’s been for the last 10 years.

“That’s what I would be thinking. Carrick is a really interesting one, but we have to see which direction his career goes in right now. But he’s definitely somebody who is on West Ham’s radar.”

Two former Man United stars in the running for Celtic job

With Ange Postecoglou deciding that after winning the treble in Scotland it was time for a new adventure, his departure has left a vacancy at Celtic, and two ex-Man United stars are amongst a multitude of names that are on a potential list to fill the void at Parkhead.

For such a big job it’s sure to be a hotly contested position, and whomever follows in the Australian’s footsteps clearly has a lot to live up to.

It was believed that West Ham manager, David Moyes, could be an early front-runner, though it isn’t even clear if the Scot intends to leave his position in east London, particularly if he wins the Europa Conference League on Wednesday night.

Glasgow World have put together a list of 20 people who are in the list, with appropriate odds, and Man United fans might be surprised to see the names of Roy Keane and Michael Carrick in there.

Both appear to be outsiders for the post at this stage, with Keane’s odds at 22/1, the same as former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, and Carrick’s at a slightly more reasonable 18/1.

Keane hasn’t been in management for some years of course, and his brash, abrasive style doesn’t really belong in the modern game.

Carrick would appear to be more forward-thinking, however, he lacks managerial experience at the very top level, which probably explains why the odds for both men are distant at best.

TalkSport journalist Alex Crook has listed the potential alternatives to Julian Nagelsmann that could be given the job as Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Recently, The Telegraph reported there are doubts that Spurs and Nagelsmann will reach an agreement due to the club’s lack of a Sporting Director.

Speaking on TalkSport, Crook spoke about the likelihood of the North London-based side getting the former Bayern Munich manager and the potential alternatives they could pursue to fill the vacancy.

He stated, “This one [appoitning Nagelsmann] was always, I think a very slim chance that he would go. Obviously, that chance improved when he took himself out of the running to be the new Chelsea manager.

“But I think it always had to be 100% right for Nagelsmann to go to Tottenham, particularly as they’re not going to be in the Champions League next season. I think he’s concerned about the lack of a Sporting Director and who they might employ in that position.

“So he’s not going to commit himself until he knows who he’s going to be reporting to. I still think they might go down the young up-and-coming route. We know they’re big admirers of Vincent Kompany, he’s definitely on their list of potential targets. Michael Carrick I think would be an interesting one to keep an eye on, if Middlesbrough don’t go up.”

Appointing either Carrick or Kompany would be very big gambles from Tottenham. Both managers haven’t managed a club on a similar level to Spurs as of yet.

Kompany has managed in Belgium and is currently in charge of Burnley, meanwhile, Carrick’s stint with Boro is his first in a full-time role in his career thus far.

However, perhaps the thinking is that either of them could oversee a rebuild this summer in which they could grow and develop alongside their refreshed squad.

They both have youth on their side, much like Naglesmann. An injection of youth and fresh ideas at the helm could be just what this Tottenham side needs next season.

West Ham have managed just 34 Premier League goals in total this season, per the Official Premier League website, so it’s understandable why they might be interested in a player that’s scored 29 on his own from 38 appearances according to WhoScored.

What’s more, the player in question was born just a goal kick away from the Hammers’ old Boleyn Ground (or Upton Park if you prefer), in Canning Town.

According to the print edition of The Mirror (April 28, page 67), the east Londoners have put themselves in the race for the 27-year-old’s signature, joining Everton and Leicester in hoping that they can persuade the Middlesbrough star to sign on the dotted line.

Much is likely to depend on whether his current club can make it into the English top-flight by virtue of the lottery of the Championship play-offs.

Chuba Akpom

Under former Man United, Tottenham and West Ham star, Michael Carrick, Boro have played some sparkling stuff, and if he’s able to guide them into the Premier League, who’s to say that Akpom won’t want to stay put.

Equally, could Carrick be tempted into managing the Hammers if they were to dispense with the services of David Moyes in the summer, and does that change the priorities for the Championship’s Player of the Year, (per EFL)?

Those questions will surely be answered once Middlesbrough’s fate is known because it’s clear he’s far too good for the Championship.

West Ham United interested in manager who has excelled in Championship this season

West Ham are said to be very keen on bringing in Michael Carrick as the replacement for David Moyes whose future is uncertain.

This is according to TeamTalk, who say that the Hammers hold the biggest interest of any club for the services of Carrick should Moyes leave the London Stadium this summer.

Carrick has hit the headlines this season since taking over at Middlesbrough in mid-October. The club were third from bottom in the Championship when he arrived and they now sit 4th in the table, eight points off the automatic promotion spots.

Carrick has proved to be an excellent appointment for Middlesbrough

His arrival on Teesside has also seen striker Chuba Akpom shoot to the top of the league’s scoring charts with 26 goals, eight clear of the next-best in Viktor Gyokeres of Coventry.

According to Dean Jones, West Ham are expected to part ways with Moyes in the summer regardless of whether or not the club remain in the Premier League, which could pave the way for Carrick to replace him.

West Ham manager David Moyes has been warned that things could get ugly for him in this season’s tight relegation battle in the Premier League.

Discussing Moyes’ job safety and the links with impressive young Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick, former Premier League player Chris Sutton has suggested things could quickly turn sour for the Hammers boss if he can’t steer this side away from danger.

“Michael Carrick has done a really good job at Middlesbrough,” Sutton said.

“You have got a guy, who has been around the block in David Moyes, who has had a wonderful managerial career. You see how tight it is at the bottom of the league, then surely he has the chance to see the season through. But if they lose (to Southampton), then it could turn ugly.”

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has ruled out leaving the club to take over as Crystal Palace boss following the sacking of Patrick Vieira.

The 41-year-old former Manchester United midfielder has impressed in his first managerial job and it’s not too surprising to now see him attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

Still, Carrick seems content to stay where he is despite the rumoured interest from Palace as they consider their options to replace Vieira.

“No communication,” Carrick said when asked about the Eagles links.

“I am delighted to be here with this great group of players. (Middlesbrough is) a great club. The supporters have been incredible with me as well.

Palace expected to approach Man United and Liverpool legends to replace Vieira

It seems that Crystal Palace are wasting no time in looking for a replacement for their sacked manager, Patrick Vieira.

The south Londoners dispensed with the Frenchman’s services on Friday morning and released a statement on their official website.

Given that Palace hadn’t won a single game since the last day of 2022, Vieira’s sacking is unlikely to have come as a surprise.

What could surprise many are the candidates that Steve Parish would appear to be lining up to take his place.

According to The Guardian, former Man United star and current Middlesbrough manager, Michael Carrick, is among the contenders.

Patrick Vieira

Whilst Carrick has taken the Championship by storm, lifting the Teeside outfit into contention for automatic promotion, it’s doubtful he’d want to leave the job half done and to a club.

Palace’s other potential options are no less surprising.

FourFourTwo note that former Liverpool manager, Rafael Benitez, out of work since his sacking by Merseyside rivals, Everton, is the bookies favourite at this stage.

The Spaniard certainly has the requisite experience, though his more defensively minded game may not suit the expansive and attacking outfit that Palace became under Viera.

Benitez’s former captain, Steven Gerrard, remains second favourite according to the Scottish Daily Express, and whilst a big name, he doesn’t have too much managerial credibility after his sacking at Aston Villa.

Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has been identified by West ham as the next man to replace David Moyes as the club’s manager.

The Mirror report that the Hammers hierarchy are backing David Moyes for the moment but are said to be planning for the long term and they believe Carrick could be the man to take them to the next step.

Carrick has surprised fans across the country with how he has revolutionised Middlesbrough since replacing Chris Wilder on October 24th, taking over with the team when they were just one point above the Championship relegation zone with 17 points from 16 matches, leading them to their current position of 3rd with 63 points from 36 matches.

Carrick has proved to be an excellent appointment for Middlesbrough

Chuba Akpom has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of Michael Carrick’s arrival, scoring 18 times since October 29th as he sits top of the league’s scoring charts with 22 goals.

West Ham could certainly do with a goalscorer of their own as well as appointing their former player Carrick, who made 159 appearances for the Hammers before they sold him to Tottenham in 2004 for £3.5million.
