After coming back from the dead against Cardiff City in their Championship opener last weekend, Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, will surely have pinpointed exactly where his squad needed to be improved.

Though the all whites’ performance wasn’t particularly bad, they were brittle at the back at times and not as clinical as they could be up front.

With the transfer window still open for business, it does offer every club the chance to still make some moves, and that appears to be exactly what Farke is doing.

According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Leeds have completed a deal for Joe Rodon to join them on a season long loan.

Phil Hay of The Athletic (subscription required), also noted that the club are in advanced talks to acquire Max Aarons from Norwich, a player that Farke knows well from his time as manager of the Canaries.

Farke’s decisiveness in entering the transfer market shows his willingness to adapt to what he sees before him, and rather than wait until the very last knockings of the window, getting business done is key.

What that will allow the German to do is settle his squad down that much earlier, and try to build up a head of steam in the early stages of the season.

With a few weeks still left of the transfer window, it’s entirely possible that Leeds haven’t finished buying or selling yet.

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly join the race to sign Norwich City’s Max Aarons, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

The 22-year-old was also close to signing for Everton over the summer but a deal failed to materialise between the clubs. Now, Frank Lampard will face competition from the two top-four giants if he wants to try and oversee a deal again in January.

United are on the hunt for a fullback who can rival Diogo Dalot for the right-back position and had listed Aarons as a potential suitor. The Portugal international has started every game for the Red Devils this season and will be heading to Qatar to represent his national team at the World Cup, meaning reinforcements are crucial for Erik ten Hag to control the fatigue of his players.

Spurs join race for young fullback

According to 90min, Spurs will look to offload one of either Emerson Royal or Matt Doherty and have eyed Aarons as a contender for the position. He has experience in the Premier Leagye after being a regular starter for Norwich in their last two spells in the top flight.

They are also monitoring former player Kyle Walker-Peters, who has impressed at Southampton since his departure in 2020.

Manchester United are reportedly targeting Norwich City right-back Max Aarons.

Diogo Dalot is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, so Manchester United will have to consider finding a replacement if he decides to leave the club.

Dalot has impressed for Manchester United this season under Erik ten Hag, but has struggled to find consistent form prior to this campaign.

This could be a concern for the club if Dalot is unable to keep his current form going for a whole season or further, and they’ve now identified a potential target from the Championship.

Max Aarons in action for Norwich City.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United are considering making a move for Norwich City defender Aarons.

The England youth international has been impressive for Norwich, but there could be concerns about his ability to play at the level required for Manchester United.

However, at the age of 22, Aarons is yet to reach his full potential, so Ten Hag may be hoping he can develop Aarons into a player capable of playing at Champions League level.

Although they have not made a concrete offer or approach, according to recent reports, Manchester United may end up turning their attention back to Norwich City full-back Max Aarons.

That’s according to a recent transfer roundup report from Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy, who has suggested the 22-year-old right-back could become a late target for Erik ten Hag.

Writing on the ‘Transfer Centre’ section of Sky Sports‘ website, Reddy said: “Norwich’s Max Aarons could become a possible solution as Manchester United look into options at right-back.

“He has been a historical target for them – and has been assessed by two other top six clubs previously – but it remains to be seen how their interest develops.”

As things currently stand, the Red Devils are hard at work trying to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus, and although some reports have hinted the France international may end up snubbing a move to Old Trafford due to the team’s failure to qualify for this season’s Champions League, negotiations appear to be moving in a positive direction.

According to leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, talks have ‘accelerated over the weekend’, prompting excitement that the Red Devils could be close to completing their fourth senior summer signing.

“He (Rabiot) has been one of the options on Manchester United’s list for weeks. Contacts were then accelerated over the weekend,” Romano said in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside.

However, going back to Aarons, although the current focus appears to be elsewhere, the highly-rated Championship defender has been a strong candidate to depart the Canaries for several seasons.

Max Aarons in action for Norwich City.

Speaking just over 12 months ago about what the future could have in store for Aarons, Norwich City’s majority shareholder Deliah Smith, who spoke at the FT Business of Football summit (quoted by Pink Un), said: “Luckily, because of this wonderful team behind the scenes, we have some really lovely players.

“They’ve got a nice temperament and Max Aarons is one of the best. He is going to be one of the top footballers and it won’t be at Norwich.

“He knows that, we know that. But we didn’t have any problem with Max or his parents on this particular occasion and this particular deal. Obviously, we will lose him, but that is part of our plan.”

Currently valued at just below £20m (Transfermarkt), London-born Aarons, who has two years left on his deal at Carrow Road, could prove to be a cost-effective backup for the likes of Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Both of whom have failed to make United’s right-back position their own.

Manchester United are likely to turn their attention towards the signing of a new right-back later in the summer once other priority transfer targets are secured, CaughtOffside understands.

The Red Devils are preparing for their first season under new manager Erik ten Hag, and several changes are expected to be made to this struggling squad in the weeks and months ahead.

For the time being, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is a top priority for Ten Hag as he seeks to revamp Man Utd’s midfield, which was already weak and is now even more so after Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic’s departures.

While Ten Hag could be ready to take a serious look at Diogo Dalot as his first choice right-back, it seems there is also a realistic prospect of Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaving Old Trafford this summer.

The former Crystal Palace defender doesn’t contribute enough going forward, so this is a key quality United will look for as they assess three main targets.

Manchester United identify Dumfries, Aarons and Dest as transfer options

Sources inform CaughtOffside that the three main targets at right-back are Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, Norwich City ace Max Aarons, and Sergino Dest of Barcelona.

Max Aarons has been on Manchester United’s radar for some time

Netherlands international Dumfries is a favourite of Ten Hag’s, though it is not yet clear how likely a deal is given that he’s only been at current club Inter for one season.

Aarons, meanwhile, is well established as a promising young talent in the Premier League and has been monitored by United’s recruitment team for some time now, while there is also long-standing interest from other big clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, and European giants Bayern Munich. Norwich’s relegation from the Premier League also means a sale is likely this summer, with the talented 22-year-old likely to be available for a perfectly affordable fee in the region of £20-30million.

Dest is also being considered and is another player likely to be on the move this summer after struggling at Barcelona, though he previously shone at Ajax under Ten Hag. The USA international could move on loan or a permanent transfer and is also understood to have Chelsea and Leeds United as among his admirers.

For now, however, areas such as central midfield, centre-back, and attack are likely to be seen as more pressing issues for MUFC, with Dalot still an option for Ten Hag as he prepares to take a look at this squad in pre-season.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has given some transfer advice to new manager Erik ten Hag, naming Norwich City youngster Max Aarons as an ideal target for the club.

The Red Devils need a major rebuild this summer after a disastrous season that saw them finish with their lowest ever points tally in the Premier League era, and no silverware once again.

Ten Hag is now coming in for what Man Utd fans will hope is the start of a new era, and Ferdinand has singled out Aarons as precisely the kind of signing his old club could do with right now.

Speaking on his Vibe with Five YouTube show, Ferdinand explained why he felt Aarons could come in and have a Chris Smalling-like impact, as he’s the right sort of age to both make an impact straight away and be an important player for the club for the long-term as well.

“Someone like Max Aarons, you could put him in like a Chris Smalling-type signing where they come in and they have an impact,” the former England defender said.

Max Aarons could be a good signing for Man Utd

“They may not be straight starters immediately but they go and they stay there for 10 years and have a really good career and they impact the club at different levels.”

Aarons looks a terrific prospect and is surely too good to be playing in the Championship, so a move away from Norwich makes sense after their relegation this season.

The 22-year-old has been linked with both United and Arsenal by the Sun recently, who stated he could cost around £20million.

Manchester United and Arsenal reportedly look to have been given a transfer boost ahead of the summer, with Norwich City defender Max Aarons looking set to be sold following the club’s relegation.

Aarons has long been tipped for a big future in the game, and has attracted interest from bigger clubs, and there now clearly seems to be an opportunity due to Norwich suffering relegation from the Premier League to the Championship this season.

According to the Telegraph, this means Aarons will be sold this summer, and a recent report from the Sun linked the young right-back with both Man Utd and Arsenal, stating he could cost around £20million.

Max Aarons is set to leave Norwich City

Arsenal would do well to bring in an attack-minded right-back like Aarons, who could give them a useful upgrade on Hector Bellerin, whose future is in doubt after a season on loan at Real Betis.

United, meanwhile, surely need to find a better option than the unconvincing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been linked with a return to former club Crystal Palace by The Athletic.

Fulham have entered the race for Manchester United and Arsenal transfer target Max Aarons.

With Norwich’s relegation imminent, clubs will be circling around their more valuable players, looking to offer them Premier League football for next season.

According to The Sun, Manchester United and Arsenal are keen to make a move for Aarons, who would cost around £20m.

Now, Football Insider are reporting that Fulham are interested in the Norwich defender, after their promotion to the Premier League.

A move back to the Premier League is surely on the agenda for Aarons, who has impressed in the last few years in a poor Norwich side.

A move to Manchester United or Fulham is likely to see him have the most game time. Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have both failed to impress this season, with Ralf Rangnick often rotating between the two.

Fulham currently have Neco Williams as their starting right-back, but he’s only on loan and could head back to Liverpool this summer.

Takehiro Tomiyasu only signed for Arsenal last year and was one of their most in-form players before his injury. A move to The Emirates could halt his progress, and at 22-years-old, it’s time for him to make the step up.

Norwich City looks destined to be relegated to the Championship and should the Canaries find themselves back in the second-tier, their hand could be forced when it comes to offloading right-back Max Aarons.

That’s according to a recent report from The Sun, who claims the young full-back is wanted by as many as four top European sides, including Premier League duo Manchester United and Arsenal.

In addition to the two English clubs, it is understood that Bayern Munich and rivals Borussia Dortmund are also big admirers of the defender.

Aarons, 22, has enjoyed another impressive season. Despite his side on the verge of being relegated, Aarons, who has featured in 28 league games, has remained a constant positive.

Max Aarons (left) in action for Norwich City.

However, with just two years left on his deal, this summer is likely to see his employers left with little option but to cash in.

Discussing Aarons’ long-term future at the FT Business of Football summit last year, Norwich City majority shareholder Delia Smith admitted the club is expecting to lose the 22-year-old.

“Luckily, because of this wonderful team behind the scenes,” Smith told guests (as quoted by Pink Un).

“We have some really lovely players. They’ve got a nice temperament and Max Aarons is one of the best. He is going to be one of the top footballers and it won’t be at Norwich.

“He knows that, we know that. But we didn’t have any problem with Max or his parents on this particular occasion and this particular deal. Obviously, we will lose him, but that is part of our plan.”

Since joining the Canaries’ youth academy from Luton Town all the way back in 2016, Aarons has gone on to feature in 159 senior first-team matches, across all competitions, directly contributing to 19 goals along the way.

Cristiano Ronaldo is once again leading the way for Manchester United this season.

The legendary Portuguese striker, who reached 800 career goals against Arsenal a week and a half ago, is showing no signs of slowing down after scoring yet another game changing goal for his side.

With United struggling to break down a determined Norwich City, Ronaldo managed to get himself goal side of Max Aarons and was pulled down in the penalty area by the young full-back, winning a potentially crucial penalty.

Ronaldo then stepped up to convert from the spot, sending Tim Krul the wrong way in the process.

If United see the win out they will go level on points with West Ham United who are currently sitting in fourth place, the final spot that enables a club to qualify for the Champions League.

A place there will be the bare minimum expected of The Red Devils after they have been massively disappointing this season despite a big transfer outlay in the summer.
