Newcastle United defender Isaac Hayden is reportedly set to leave the club even though the transfer deadline has now passed.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Hayden will be cleared to complete a loan move to Standard Liege.

Hayden also came close to other moves this summer, with Luton Town and Sheffield Wednesday among those in the frame for his signature.

However, those couldn’t come to pass, and now it seems the 28-year-old will be heading off for a spell in Belgium instead.

Reports suggest this will be done imminently, with the Englishman moving on a loan deal that won’t include an option to buy.

Though Newcastle probably haven’t started the 2023/24 Premier League season in the way in which Eddie Howe will have hoped, the Magpies manager can’t be too unhappy with the transfer business that the club have done this summer.

Thanks to the backing of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), Howe has been able to secure the targets that he and his recruitment team have identified as being the perfect fit for what it is that the club are trying to achieve with ease.

Indeed, if one wants to put a positive spin on things, Newcastle have got two of their trickiest fixtures out of the way in the first three games.

Though both games – Man City and Liverpool – were lost, and the Magpies are playing catch up as a result, it’s still early enough in the season for it not to become a huge issue.

With one or two injuries to contend with, particularly to Sven Botman, it’s entirely possible that Howe will look to go back into the transfer market, even though it was believed that any dealings have long since been finalised.

There’s also the small matter of players that are surplus to requirements needing to be moved out by Friday’s deadline, though for one player, it appears he could be stuck at the club.

TalkSPORT’s chief football correspondent, Alex Crook, tweeted that Isaac Hayden’s potential switch to Luton Town looked to have fallen through on Tuesday afternoon.

According to recent reports, Isaac Hayden has agreed to join Luton Town on loan.

That’s according to Football Insider, who claim the Newcastle United midfielder is set to undergo his medical on Monday ahead of his transfer to the Premier League new-boys.

Set to be the latest name to leave St. James’ Park, Hayden, who still has three years left on his deal, will embark on a new challenge with the Hatters as he seeks more regular Premier League minutes.

And Luton Town will feel their latest piece of business could help them remain in England’s top-flight.

Although Hayden is very unlikely to be part of Newcastle’s future, he, with his vast experience of top-flight football, can still be a decent option for most sides.

Newcastle United have enjoyed another good transfer window this summer, securing the likes of Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.

Eddie Howe’s nous in the transfer market and the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) willingness to allow their manager to get on with things has ensured a successful and harmonious relationship to this point.

Each new member of the squad appears to have settled in perfectly, as have many of Howe’s previous new signings, which speaks of a manager, board and backroom staff totally in tune with each other.

Diligent and well thought out purchases will almost always prove to be good buys, though it does raise the prospect of a number of sales given that the Newcastle squad will now be looking a little top heavy.

As The Talk of the Toon suggest, there could be as many as five current first-team squad members on their way out of St. James’ Park before the 11pm deadline on September 1.

Ryan Fraser, Jeff Hendrick, Isaac Hayden, Javier Manquillo and Matt Targett are all mentioned as possible departures.

With the first three not training with the main group and out of Howe’s plans entirely according to the outlet, it makes sense for them to look for alternative employment.

For Manquillo and Targett, they’re no longer first choices and also may consider it more worthwhile to leave in order to get more minutes.

Newcastle United could look to get rid of their fringe players this summer and the midfield trio of Jeff Hendricks, Ryan Fraser and Isaac Hayden have been linked with the move away from the club.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has now confirmed that the three players do not have a future at the club and it would be ideal for the Magpies to cash in on them.

As quoted by Chronicle Live, Howe said, “with those players, in particular, it is very difficult for us as a football club because in an ideal world for their careers we’d want them to go…there’s all sorts of difficulties associated with it, contract length, the amount of money they are earning and it is finding a football club that they want to go to…I have no issue with any of them and I wish them well, but let’s see what happens.”

All three players have struggled for regular game time and the likes of Hayden and Hendricks were on loan at Championship clubs Norwich and Reading respectively.

They will need to move on in order to play regular first-team football next season and it will be interesting to see where they end up.

All three players have been useful options for Newcastle in the past but the club has clearly outgrown them and they need to bring in better players if they want to do well in the Champions League next season.

It makes sense for the Premier League side to let the trio leave so that they can free up their wage bill and invest in players who can make a definitive impact.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has reportedly informed both Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden that they no are no longer part of his plans for the new season.

The Magpies are closing in on the signing of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, but player sales are also likely this summer in order to help fund other new purchases.

Hendrick and Hayden have not been regulars for Newcastle for some time now, and reports claim Howe has informed them that they are free to leave St James’ Park.

According to the Athletic, “There have been no issues around Jeff Hendrick and Isaac Hayden’s professionalism, but both have similarly been informed that they will not form part of the first-team squad for the upcoming season.”

Newcastle United reportedly look set to allow a large number of first-team players to leave this summer.

As many as eight senior players could be offloaded in this transfer window, according to journalist Jacob Whitehead.

Newcastle are closing in on the signing of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, and other big targets are sure to be on their radar, but it may require some player sales first.

Whitehead has named the players who could be on the way out of St James’ Park, with Ryan Fraser, Jamal Lewis, Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick, Javier Manquillo, Loris Karius, Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow’s futures all in doubt.

None of those look likely to have much of a first-team chance next season, so it could work out for all parties if they leave for decent money.

Unfortunately for some Newcastle United players, the journey that they’ve recently been on is about to come to an abrupt end.

The Magpies have gone from strength to strength under Eddie Howe and, whilst that’s music to the ears of the backroom staff, the board and the supporters, those players who the manager doesn’t fancy and who haven’t really been given a chance over the past season could be forgiven for not joining in with the party mood.

With Champions League football to come as well as a domestic campaign, Howe can’t have passengers along for the ride, and with that in mind, five players will know that their days at St. James’ Park are numbered, according to The Athletic (subscription required).

They are Isaac Hayden, Javier Manquillo, Jeff Hendrick, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis.

The report suggests that Hayden and Hendrick, who had both been out on loan, are expected to move on as they won’t be training with the first-team upon their return after the summer break.

From Lewis and Manquillo’s perspective, they’ve barely featured for the club of late and it’s unlikely that any reasonable offer will be turned down.

Ryan Fraser’s disagreement with Howe, which saw the manager punish him by making him train with the U21 side, clearly has no future whilst Howe remains at the helm.

The subsequent cost saving in salaries and room made in the squad should allow the club to do a decent amount of shopping in the summer transfer window as a result.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is looking to improve his squad significantly during the summer transfer window and he is already planning to get rid of the fringe players.

According to reports, the Newcastle manager has already informed Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick that they have no future at the club and they should look to secure a move away this summer.

Newcastle have shown tremendous improvement this season and they have qualified for the Champions League. They will need to sign better players in order to cope with the quality opposition in the competition and they need to get rid of fringe players this summer.

The departures of Hayden and Hendrick will allow Newcastle to spend money on better quality players and improve the squad. Both players have done reasonably well during their time at the club and they are unlikely to have any shortage of suitors. It remains to be seen whether they can secure a move elsewhere.

There is no doubt that the two players are not good enough to start for Champions League-level clubs and Newcastle have clearly outgrown them. It is ideal for all parties to go separate ways this summer.

Newcastle United are set to put four players up for sale this summer as the club aim for a squad overhaul for next season.

Newcastle have a fantastic chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League and as a result, will look to transfer list four players who they feel won’t play a crucial part next year.

According to Chris Waugh of the Athletic, Newcastle will listen to offers for Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis in the summer, with the former two finding themselves out on loan in the Championship this season.

Hayden is currently with Norwich, for whom he has featured just 12 times due to a knee injury, while Hendrick has featured 37 out of a possible 38 times for Reading.

Fraser and Lewis have a combined nine league appearances for the Magpies between them this season, so their future looks likely to be away from St. James’ Park come the start of 2023/24.
