Southampton (15th in the Championship) take on Leeds (6th in the Championship) on Saturday September 30th, at St. Mary’s Stadium, at 12:30 PM (BST).

The last time the two sides faced, Leeds beat Southampton 1-0 at Elland Road. The only goal of the game being scored by Junior Firpo in the 77th minute to win the game.

Southampton lost their last Championship game, losing 2-1 to Middlesbrough. Goals from Riley McGree and Jonny Howson for Middlesbrough, and a goal from Adam Armstrong for the Saints.

Leeds however won their last Championship game, beating Watford 3-0. Goals from Joel Piroe, Sam Byram and Jaidon Anthony secured the victory and three points for Leeds.

Swansea City manager Russel Martin is a leading contender to become the new head coach of Southampton, as per reports from the Daily Mail.

The Saints, who were turned down by Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca, are reportedly expected to make a formal approach for Martin for the managerial role, and want to wrap up the compensation over the next 48 hours.

According to the report, Martin was initially scheduled to meet with Swansea’s owners in Washington but remained in the UK as Southampton intensified their interest in him.

Sky Sports also confirms that the Swansea manager has ‘verbally agreed‘ to join Southampton, signaling a potential departure from his current club.

In the event that Martin leaves Swansea, former Southampton boss Nathan Jones has emerged as a prominent candidate to succeed him at the Welsh club.

Swansea City manager Russel Martin has emerged as a top contender to take the Leicester City job.

Brendan Rodgers who has had a decent stint with Leicester City was sacked last month after failing to improve their form that has seen them fighting relegation.

Dean Smith has taken over as interim manager until the end of the season as the club continues its search for a permanent manager ahead of the next season.

And according to a report in The Sun, The Foxes are considering appointing Swansea manager Russel Martin in case they get relegated to the Championship.

The report further states that Martin has one year left in his current contract with the Welsh club which will give Leicester the edge in their negotiations over his compensation fee.
