Former England striker, Peter Crouch, speaking on his That Peter Crouch Podcast, noted how much he would’ve loved to have played in the north east during his career.

“It’s one of those clubs where I wanted to play there,” he said.

“Imagine being the number nine at Newcastle. If you’d have done well and scored there, they would just love you.

“When you speak to Jermaine Jenas and Titus Bramble, players who I know well, and players who have been up there. They just love playing there. Even then it was probably a difficult time.

“Imagine being up there now with the Champions League.”

Before the game had taken place, he was challenged to the crossbar challenge with fellow pundit and ex-Reds star, Joe Cole.

Former Tottenham and England striker Peter Crouch has had his say on Harry Kane’s future amid ongoing transfer rumours this summer.

The Spurs front-man has been strongly linked with Manchester United, but it’s fair to say they also look unlikely to be able to afford him due to Daniel Levy’s tough negotiating style.

Crouch, speaking on talkSPORT had his say on Kane’s future and tipped Man Utd as a likely destination for the England international.

He was not, however, convinced by the prospect of Newcastle United joining the race for Kane, even if they have just qualified for the Champions League.

Former Liverpool star and now pundit Peter Crouch has named Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the best player he has ever played with. 

Gerrard and Crouch shared a dressing room at Anfield between 2005 and 2008, whilst also appearing in various England squads together.

The striker’s time on Merseyside was not anything special, but the three years were enough to encourage the pundit that Gerrard is the best player he has ever played alongside, which is a big statement considering Crouch played with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.

The former Liverpool star said to the Anfield Wrap when speaking about the Reds legend: “Stevie is the best I’ve ever played with bar none.

“There’s been some great ones obviously at Tottenham with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale… with England playing with Wayne Rooney.

“But Steven was by far the best player and I don’t think it was close. I feel like he had everything… he could do everything.”

BT Sport pundit Peter Crouch has criticised Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga following the role the Spaniard played in the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Thursday night.

Graham Potter’s side are in terrible form and the defeat in the West London derby leaves them sat in tenth in the Premier League table. However, last night’s defeat could have been avoided if it was not for a mistake by the Chelsea shot-stopper.

Kepa was caught in no-man’s for the home side’s winning goal as Carlos Vinicius headed into an empty net after a superb cross from Andreas Pereira.

Rather than coming all the way out to claim the ball or staying on his line to save the header, the keeper hovered in between and was easily beaten, which resulted in his team losing the match. This action did not impress Peter Crouch who was critical of the goalkeeper after the match.

Speaking on BT Sport after the match, Crouch said about Kepa’s role in Vinicius’ goal via the Daily Mail: ‘It’s a massive error from Kepa. If he stays on his line it’s such a difficult header [for Vinicius], but he’s given him an open goal. Even if Kepa makes a decision to come out, you’ve got to come all the way.’

This is the second time in as many Premier League matches that Kepa has made a mistake leading to a winning goal. The Spaniard failed to deal with a Jack Grealish cross in Chelsea’s match recently with Man City and it resulted in a tap-in for Riyad Mahrez to make it 1-0.

Nothing seems to be going right for Potter at present and it doesn’t help when his goalkeeper is making avoidable mistakes.

Speaking recently to the Daily Mail about this week’s blockbuster encounter in the country’s capital, Crouch, when asked where Tottenham Hotspur’s biggest threat will come from, said: “Whoever is looking after Kane and Son!

“That is the area of the pitch where this is won and lost because those two can take a game away from anyone.

“Son is criminally underrated – he’s up there with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.”

Son has once again enjoyed a hugely successful season and alongside Kane, has easily been his side’s best player.

Currently pushing Liverpool’s Mo Salah all the way in the race for the Golden Boot award, Son, who has netted 20 times in the Premier League this campaign, is without a doubt in the best form of his life.
