Spurs are reportedly interested in signing Sunderland ace Jobe Bellingham.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, who claims the Lilywhites have added the Championship starlet to their transfer shortlist.

Registering three goals and one assist already this season, Bellingham, 18, who joined from Birmingham City for around £3 million in the summer, has been an important player and has helped make the Black Cats promotion contenders.

Consequently, following what has been a rich vein of form, Bellingham, the brother of Real Madrid star Jude, is thought to be attracting the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs — including sides in the Bundesliga.

However, it is Ange Postecoglou who is thought to be keeping the closest eye on the young playmaker.

The Aussie, who recently lost James Maddison through injury, appears on the lookout for another creative player who can help boost his side’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

And with Bellingham a versatile attacker who can play from either flank, as well as a number 10, the Sunderland star could provide the London club with the cover they need, as well as injecting an exciting element of home-grown youth.

Happy Monday guys, welcome to the latest edition of the Daily Briefing – click here to subscribe and get this and other exclusive stories straight to your inbox, completely ad-free, five mornings a week!

Anderlecht

Anderlecht are set to sign Harry Toffolo on loan from Nottingham Forest – a deal has been agreed between the two clubs. Toffolo is already in Belgium to reach full agreement and sign his contract.

Arsenal

Arsenal have made a second bid for Moises Caicedo, £70m fee with add ons included, but it has again been immediately rejected by Brighton. If Arsenal decide to bid again in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, it could have to be a club-record offer.

Caicedo would love to join Arsenal, he wants a top club move this January as it was his biggest dream. Still, in my experience, Brighton will not change their stance just because of player statement: it has to be a very good proposal according to their position, otherwise they are prepared to fight and keep the player.

Manchester City “really like” this Arsenal player – click here to find out more!

What’s the latest on Moises Caicedo’s future as Arsenal change their transfer approach for the Brighton star? Click here for full details!

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid could try to sign Caglar Soyuncu from Leicester City if Felipe ends up leaving to join Nottingham Forest.

Brighton

Tariq Lamptey will not be moving to Sporting Lisbon as Brighton would only let him leave on a permanent deal. Both Lyon and Sporting have left the negotiations, Lamptey could now end up staying unless things change.

Brighton have completed the signing of Swedish talent Yasin Ayari. A deal was agreed with AIK last week for €6m — contract completed. Ayari is now in England to undergo medical tests and sign the documents.

Roberto De Zerbi: “Caicedo is a good guy. We will see. We hope he stays with us but this question for the club and Moises. In life you can make mistakes. We will see the best solution for the club, for Caicedo and for us. I would like Moises to finish the season with us, but we are ready to go forward without him. I respect his decision — I can’t be also the chairman, so we will see in the next days.”

Chelsea

Chelsea have scheduled new talks with Benfica over Enzo Fernandez. The Blues are now fully focused on Fernandez instead of Moises Caicedo. Chelsea’s offer could reach €120m – they’re prepared to pay, but it depends on Benfica president Rui Costa, who wants to keep the player. Benfica’s position is clear, but Chelsea are going in really strong, they are prepared to offer crazy money. Todd Boehly is really keen to get it done quickly, as they anticipate other European clubs moving for Enzo in the summer. As for the player, Enzo will not make a problem for Benfica, but he is ready to join Chelsea, personal terms won’t be an issue.

Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea?

Malo Gusto to Chelsea has been officially announced. He’ll remain with Lyon until the end of the season, and then join Chelsea in July for €30m fee plus add-ons. He’s signed a seven year and half contract after completing his medical tests on Saturday.

Malo Gusto: “I chose Chelsea because it’s a very big club and I very like the big project. Very happy to be here – I also like the city.”

I’m not aware of any attempt or bid from Manchester United, despite some reports that they were in contact. It was another English club trying to sign Malo Gusto, I’m told; but Man United were not working to sign him.

Chelsea could turn their attention to Dusan Vlahovic in the summer, according to Ben Jacobs – click here to find out more!

Everton

Everton were close to signing Ben Brereton Diaz last summer, they wanted him but at the end there was no agreement between all parties. Villarreal are now set to sign him on free transfer in June, with deals in place for both him and Denis Suarez.

Fulham

Fulham have improved their offer for Sasa Lukic: £10m fresh bid on the table as they hope to get deal done after Torino signed Ivan Ilic as new midfielder on deal hijacked after Marseille had it done. Personal terms are another key step – waiting for the player to decide.

Inter Milan

Manchester United don’t want to sell Victor Lindelof to Inter Milan, so they will now look for other targets. Chris Smalling is an option for the summer, not for January, so they will look at Tiago Djalo from Lille, as well as some other defenders based in Serie A.

Leicester City

Official, confirmed. Leicester sign Tete as new winger from Olympique Lyon as revealed on Friday.

“He is currently due to return to Shakhtar on 1 July,” club confirms.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp announces Liverpool will not sign any other player in January: “Nothing will happen in this transfer window, not at all. It’s all good with this squad.”

Let’s see if Liverpool stick with this plan, but for the moment my understanding is that there are no negotiations over new signings ongoing, all the focus is on the summer for Jude Bellingham.

Lyon

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas: “I’ve said no — I rejected PSG proposal and it’s guaranteed: Rayan Cherki will stay at Olympique Lyon.”

Manchester United

Manchester United do not want to let Victor Lindelof go. The defender remains part of Erik ten Hag’s squad despite interest from both Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid in this transfer window.

I’m told Manchester United have received ten proposals for Anthony Elanga this January, but no green light to let him go just yet.

Marseille

Official, completed. Azzedine Ounahi has completed a permanent move to Olympique Marseille. He joins from Angers for a €8m fee plus €2m add ons and sell-on clause. His contract runs until 2027.

Newcastle United

Done deal, official: Newcastle United sign Anthony Gordon on a permanent deal from Everton. Contract signed, deal agreed on £40m plus £5m add ons.

Flamengo have turned down new bid from Newcastle for Matheus Franca — it was worth €20m total package. Newcastle want Matheus but they will not overpay, clear message as last bid was close to ‘internal’ Brazilian market release clause worth €25m.

Newcastle could come back in for James Maddison in the summer, says Ben Jacobs – click here to read more!

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are now in advanced talks to sign Felipe as new centre back, discussions ongoing with Atletico Madrid.

Nottingham Forest are closing in on deal to sign Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle. Talks are at an advanced stage, and it could be completed soon as Newcastle are open to letting him leave.

MLS side Chicago Fire have submitted an official proposal to Nottingham Forest/Olympiacos player Hwang Ui-jo to make him their Designated Player. Discussions are now ongoing in order to find an agreement.

PSG

Milan Skriniar confirms: “Yes, it’s true — I have signed with PSG. I’m waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement.”

Skriniar has signed as a free agent for June — but PSG want to bring his move forward to January.

Roma

Roma director Pinto: “Zaniolo wants to leave. We reached an agreement with Bournemouth but he has rejected. It’s really difficult for us, we hope to find a solution in the final 48h of the market.”

Sevilla

Sevilla are set to sign Pape Gueye from Olympique Marseille — deal agreed on loan, as Spanish press called today. It’s almost done. Gueye will be back to OM at the end of the current season as there’s no buy option clause included.

Sporting Lisbon

Sporting are advancing in negotiations to sign Hector Bellerin as replacement for Pedro Porro who’s joining Tottenham. Sporting are in direct talks with Barcelona, also with Bellerin agent on personal terms. Talks are progressing well.

Sporting are set to sign Ousmane Diomande from FC Midtjylland, he’s gonna travel for medical soon. €7.5m fee, add-ons up to €12.5m and 20% sell-on clause guaranteed for FC Midtjylland.

Tottenham

Many clubs are interested in Piero Hincapie in England, Italy (Napoli and Inter) and other countries. Tottenham have been following him for long time but no official bid has been made in the last hours, despite rumours to the contrary.

Understand Sevilla are in advanced talks over a loan deal for Bryan Gil from Tottenham. He’d join until the end of the season, no buy option. Negotiations are progressing, Sevilla are pushing, and are confident of getting it done in the final 48 hours of the transfer window.

Udinese

Udinese are close to signing Florian Thauvin as free agent — deal at final stages for former Marseille and Tigres player. Thauvin would replace Gerard Deulofeu who’s unavailable due to a new injury.

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Birmingham city midfielder Jobe Bellingham as per Teamtalk.

The 17-year-old has done well for the Championship outfit since breaking into the first team scene at St Andrew’s.

Bellingham has the potential to develop into a quality player like his brother, Jude Bellingham, and it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can agree on a deal to sign him.

The Magpies have improved their squad significantly since their takeover and they have brought in a number of quality players over the last few windows. However, the club hierarchy has shown a willingness to invest in top-class talents like Garang Kuol.

Jobe Bellingham could be a quality addition for them in the long run. The Birmingham midfielder’s transfer would be a future investment and a manager like Eddie Howe could help him fulfil his potential.

The Newcastle boss has built a reputation for nurturing young talent from his time at Bournemouth, and the 17-year-old midfielder could develop further under his management.

However, Bellingham could use regular first-team action right now and he is unlikely to get that opportunity at Newcastle. It would be ideal for all parties if Newcastle signed the player and loaned him out to gain regular first-team experience.

The 17-year-old is likely to develop faster if he is playing on a regular basis, instead of sitting on the bench at a big club like Newcastle.

The Championship outfit are thought to be under financial pressure right now and it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can take advantage of the situation and convince them to sell the 17-year-old midfielder in the near future.

Liverpool “certainly” have an interest in a potential transfer move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham for next summer.

The Reds could be one of a long list of top clubs to pursue a move for Bellingham, according to Fabrizio Romano in his latest CaughtOffside column.

The England international has shown himself to be one of the most exciting young players in world football in his time at Dortmund, and he seems like he could be a great fit at Anfield.

Romano notes that Real Madrid are now ahead of Liverpool in the running to sign Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, so waiting a year to sign Bellingham could be a good Plan B option.

Romano also insisted that Bellingham’s future would not be linked in any way to that of his younger brother Jobe, who is on the books at Jude’s former club Birmingham City.

Jude Bellingham to Liverpool in 2023?

“There is no chance for Jude Bellingham to leave Borussia Dortmund before summer 2023,” Romano said.

“Liverpool are certainly interested for next summer – his talent and personality make him look like the perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp team – but there is absolutely no definite deal because so many clubs want Jude and it will be an open race.”

He added: “From sources close to the family, a potential transfer for his younger brother Jobe Bellingham, currently at Jude’s old club Birmingham City, will not affect Jude’s next destination.”

The Premier League season may be over, but with the summer transfer window just around the corner, who better than Fabrizio Romano to give you the latest transfer gossip? Read on for his latest exclusive CaughtOffside column, featuring updates on Jurrien Timber, Aurelien Tchouameni, Kalvin Phillips, and more…

Manchester United discussing two centre-back transfer targets

Manchester United have discussed Jurrien Timber internally earlier this week with Erik ten Hag. His name is on the list alongside Pau Torres, who has a release clause around €60m, but it is understood to be potentially negotiable with Villarreal.

Despite widespread reports about deals edging closer, my understanding is that neither negotiation is in an advanced state yet – Manchester United are still making their own assessments with Ten Hag.

So far there are no signs of a departure for under-performing club captain Harry Maguire: the player will have a direct conversation with Ten Hag in the coming days to understand the club’s plans and his future.

What does the future hold for Harry Maguire under Erik ten Hag?

He has been rumoured as a surprise option for Barcelona, but so far it is not a realistic option. Unless something changes, we can probably expect Maguire to remain a key part of the United squad under Ten Hag, playing alongside a new signing at the back.

No Victor Osimhen transfer talks with Arsenal; the Napoli star would cost €100million

As of today, I am not aware of an advanced negotiation for Victor Osimhen to Arsenal. Napoli have no intention to negotiate for less than €100million for the Nigerian striker and so far there is no proposal on the table, sources close to the club guarantee.

Napoli are always tough negotiators in the transfer market, and their mission will be to try to keep Osimhen for another season. Personally, I’m not even convinced he is as much of a target for Arsenal as other reports would have you believe.

For now, the Gunners are waiting for answers from Gabriel Jesus after positive talks with his agent. The Brazilian is the priority target for Mikel Arteta, but also interests other clubs. We can expect a final decision to come soon, and Manchester City are asking for a €50-60m fee for Gabriel.

Liverpool aware of Aurelien Tchouameni transfer decision

Aurelien Tchouameni told his teammates that his priority this summer is Real Madrid. Even sources inside Liverpool are sure that Tchouameni wants to give priority to negotiations with Real Madrid. There have been ongoing talks between Real Madrid and his agents for a contract until June 2027, but not yet a full deal with AS Monaco asking €80m for the midfielder: new talks are expected right after the Champions League final this weekend.

Paris Saint-Germain remain interested until the end, but Real Madrid are leading the race. Liverpool remain alert to the situation before focusing on other targets. As I wrote in my recent column, the Reds have held direct talks with Tchouameni’s agent as well, but it seems he has now made it clear that his preference is to move to the Spanish capital.

Aurelien Tchouameni has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid

After signing Eduardo Camavinga last year, the addition of Tchouameni could give Madrid two great French midfielders that can form the spine of their side for the next decade or more. There’s no need for fans to worry about the future of the club’s midfield after Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Jude Bellingham to Liverpool in 2023?

There is no chance for Jude Bellingham to leave Borussia Dortmund before summer 2023. The player made this decision together with the club in a meeting in February, he will stay at Borussia for another year.

Liverpool are certainly interested for next summer – his talent and personality make him look like the perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp team – but there is absolutely no definite deal because so many clubs want Jude and it will be an open race.

Bellingham doesn’t want to anticipate any agreement now. From sources close to the family, a potential transfer for his younger brother Jobe Bellingham, currently at Jude’s old club Birmingham City, will not affect Jude’s next destination.

Kalvin Phillips yet to decide on his future, with both Manchester clubs interested

Kalvin Phillips hasn’t made any decisions about his future yet. Manchester United have his name on the list but he is not a priority for them, even because the player would not want to “betray” Leeds.

In fact, the England international does not rule out staying at Leeds for another year after they secured survival in the Premier League, but this will depend on the proposals that come in for him.

Kalvin Phillips is admired by both Manchester clubs

Manchester City are interested because after taking on Erling Haaland they will not invest insane amounts on a new midfielder to replace the departing Fernandinho. But Philipps wants to wait before the talks enter the decisive stages.

West Ham have been linked with Phillips in the recent past, but I don’t expect them to be serious contenders for him now. Instead, the Hammers are now focused on Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse as an appreciated player for the midfield, but he is not an easy target. His value will have risen after one of his best seasons in the Premier League, and he could be one to keep an eye on in the weeks and months ahead.

Liverpool are leading the race for Birmingham City star Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Jude, currently at Dortmund.

Bellingham is coming through the ranks at Birmingham and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his older brother. Clubs around Europe won’t want to miss out on the 16-year-old, especially if he progresses the same way Jude has.

Liverpool are reportedly frontrunners in the race for Bellingham, according to the Daily Mirror. From next season, the Birmingham midfielder can sign for other clubs, as he is yet to sign a professional contract at the club.

The 16-year-old has already played three times for the first team, despite currently studying for his GCSEs. Bellingham may not reach the levels currently produced by his older brother, but it’s certainly worth the risk for a club like Liverpool if they can sign him on the cheap.

Manchester City and Newcastle are also reportedly in the hunt for Bellingham, but Liverpool are believed to be leading the race.

Liverpool haven’t been afraid of targeting younger players from other English clubs for the future, having signed Harvey Elliot from Fulham, and Fabio Carvalho is reportedly close to securing a deal with the Merseyside club (via Sky Sports).

It is hard to believe that Jude Bellingham is only 18-years-old with all the fuss that surrounds the English midfielder. The youngster has been a star for Borussia Dortmund this season and is already a staple piece in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

The midfielder plays with a maturity beyond his years and at just 18 years of age, it is crazy to say that he is ready to take the next step in his career. However, it will not be this summer.

Football Insider is reporting, that Borussia Dortmund have told Liverpool and Man United that Bellingham will not be sold this summer, as the German side have no intention of selling the youngster on top of Man City-bound Erling Haaland in the same window.

Haaland and Bellingham won’t leave during the same window

Instead, the Bundesliga side are working on extending the contract of the midfielder and hopes to convince him to stay by increasing his salary and also by signing his younger brother, the 16-year-old Birmingham winger Jobe Bellingham, reports Football Insider.

Bellingham’s contract in Germany runs until the summer of 2025, so any fee for the Dortmund midfielder next summer will need to be a big one, that’s if the English international doesn’t sign an extension and has a release clause inserted into his contract.

The 18-year-old has contributed six goals and 13 assists in 40 appearances for Dortmund this season and has displayed a full set of skills throughout the campaign.

Bellingham has been targeted by Liverpool to be the leader of their midfielder for the coming seasons, as they look to refresh an area of the pitch where there are a lot of ageing players.

The Reds don’t need the Englishman just yet, so this news that Dortmund won’t sell this summer suits them fine. The only worry for the Merseyside club would be that someone else swoops in with a massive offer and lures the 18-year-old away from Dortmund, and that wouldn’t be a surprise either considering how talented this young man is.

With only a few months left of his tenure at Liverpool, it would appear that Michael Edwards wants to go out with a bang.

Over the course of his reign as the Reds’ recruitment chief, Edwards has consistently bought and sold well, and it could be argued that Liverpool’s recent successes are as much down to him as they are to Jurgen Klopp and the other members of his backroom staff.

As of the current moment, his loss can’t accurately be measured, though it will be seen after the summer via the quality of players that the club are able to buy and the profits they’re able to make in sales.

Leaving a parting gift for the club, for want of a better term, would be an appropriate way for Edwards to bow out.

To that end, Football Insider have quoted sources in Germany as suggesting that Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham has been earmarked as Edwards’ next target.

MORE: Jota loved this!

However, the Bundesliga giant, who clearly rate the England international very highly, have got other ideas.

Jude Bellingham in action for Borussia Dortmund

Per the same report, Dortmund appear willing to sign Bellingham’s younger brother, Jobe, 16, in order to keep Jude at Signal Iduna Park.

It’s a bold move from the German side, particularly given that they could lose Erling Haaland in the summer if any other clubs meet his buyout clause.

They surely can’t countenance losing two of their biggest stars in the same window, however, Edwards’ track record certainly gives Liverpool a fighting chance of success in their pursuit.
