Bayern Munich have an eye on Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu ahead of the January transfer window but Mikel Arteta does not want the defender to leave the Gunners anytime soon. 

The German champions are in the market for a defender and have the Japan star on their list of targets. The Standard reported this week that Arsenal will reject any approach from Bayern for the defender as he is a key part of the North London club’s squad.

The 25-year-old Japan international has been in impressive form in recent weeks and was named Arsenal’s Player of the Month for October.

During his press conference on Friday, Arteta commented on Bayern Munich’s interest in Tomiyasu, stating via Ben Jacobs: “I really want him to stay. I value [him] a lot. He’s loved and respected by everybody at the club. He’s at the level we need to make an impact on the team. He’s going to be with us.”

Tomiyasu has played all across the defence this season for Arteta and his versatility is highly valued by the Arsenal boss. The Gunners have had injury problems in this area of the pitch and this quality of the Japan star has made things easier for his Spanish coach.

It looks like Bayern will have to look elsewhere for their January centre-back signing as Arteta will not be giving up Tomiyasu anytime soon.

Harry Kane does not have any intention of cutting his stay in Munich short, Christian Falk reports.

Tottenham are understood to maintain a right of first refusal (‘a matching right’) should the England international depart the club in future.

“Harry Kane is feeling very happy in Munich, he’s found his house and will be doing much better when his family is with him,” the BILD reporter wrote in his exclusive column with CaughtOffside.

“His needs are being fulfilled, everyone admires him, his teammates love him because of his behaviour. He’s doing so well in the team.

“There is, as I’ve previously mentioned, a ‘matching right’, which allows Tottenham the right of first refusal should Kane move away from Munich at some point in the future. However, I don’t think there’s a chance at the moment of an early exit from Munich, as he’s only at the beginning of his career at Bayern.

“He wants to win titles at Munich. For him, it’s a big move to leave Tottenham and England but now he’s done it he’s aware of the many advantages that are available to him. He certainly has a bit more freedom when he’s out of the house; the people of Munich are very respectful and he can a little bit more easily.

“He’s not as central in the focus as he was in England. I don’t think there are any thoughts on his end of leaving Bayern Munich in the next few years.”

The former Spurs hitman is enjoying a superb debut season in German football, registering 28 goal contributions in 16 games (across all competitions).

‘Soft spot’ or no for the London-based outfit (as the 30-year-old admitted in comments relayed by the Mirror), it’s difficult to imagine Kane calling time on his Allianz Arena career any time soon.

The goal, as ever, will be to secure major titles and there’s certainly every chance of the former Premier League golden boot winner doing so in his opening season.

The Bavarians have already topped their Champions League group with two games to spare and have to be considered serious contenders for European glory following the arrival of a world-class striker.

It remains to be seen whether Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen outfit can maintain their current form, though you can be sure Bayern will keep the pressure on throughout the 2023/24 campaign.

Tomiyasu has performed well since joining Arsenal from Bologna a few years ago, slowly becoming more and more of an established figure in Mikel Arteta’s side, even if he still doesn’t quite look like he’s going to be a guaranteed starter for the foreseeable future.

Arteta will clearly feel Tomiyasu’s fine recent form and ability to cover a number of positions makes him a valuable asset in his squad, however, so the interest from Bayern could be a worry.

With Jurrien Timber out with a lengthy injury and some signs of a loss of form from Oleksandr Zinchenko this season, one imagines Tomiyasu will continue to get a lot of playing time over the next few months at least.

Bayern are a huge club so could be a tempting option for Tomiyasu, but Arsenal seem set to do what they can to prevent the 25-year-old from leaving.

Bayern Munich have many contract situations that they need to discuss internally and with player’s representatives, with Leroy Sane falling into this category. Sane is out of contract in the summer of 2025 and it is a crucial moment for Bayern as they still need to discuss a new deal with the player.

From what I understand, Bayern’s plan is to make a very important proposal to Sane as the winger has been one of the German club’s best players this season. The new contract offered to the player will obviously add more years to his stint at the club but it will also see his salary increased, which will include bonuses. Bayern are currently preparing this proposal and they will try hard to convince him to stay.

I have told you multiple times that Trevoh Chalobah will not stay at Chelsea beyond the January transfer window as he wants to play regular football. The idea of the club and player are in line and they will try to find the best solution for everyone during the upcoming transfer window.

There are rumours about many clubs being interested in the player from England and Germany. I want to clarify that for Bayern Munich, Chalobah is no longer a priority. He was a priority on Deadline Day this summer as he had previously played under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea but the deal collapsed because of the different closing times of the transfer windows in each country.

There are possibilities in other countries for Chalobah in January, including England, so let’s see what happens.

Premier League clubs voted against a temporary ban on loan deals between associated clubs for the January transfer window. This means Newcastle United, for instance, could sign players from clubs also owned by their owners Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

There have been rumours of Newcastle eyeing up a move for Al-Hilal’s Ruben Neves ahead of the January transfer window but I can say that there’s nothing going on with this deal at this stage. I can’t predict anything yet for the upcoming transfer window but there are no talks so far, just interest and appreciation. The situation remains very quiet but let’s see in December/January.

Gabriel Moscardo – Chelsea tried to sign Gabriel Moscardo in August for their first team, but there was no agreement. Liverpool, Arsenal and three more clubs have been monitoring the player with their scouts but there’s still no advanced negotiations, not even with Chelsea now.

Andrey Santos – Chelsea have not held talks with Nottingham Forest about Santos’ lack of playing time. Of course, Chelsea can’t be happy with the current situation but nothing will be discussed before December when the club will decide on many things, including Santos’ future.

Alejandro Balde – Balde signed a new deal with Barcelona in September so there’s nothing at all regarding a move away. He’s a key player for Barça and his extension showed the player that the club want him to be a key part of their current and future projects.

Danny Ings – Following rumours that Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke could replace Danny Ings at West Ham, I can say that Solanke is appreciated by the London club. He’s one of the players they like but no decision has been made yet as it is still early. I have no information about the future of Ings yet.

The England striker has been nothing short of phenomenal since moving to Bayern Munich in the summer and is on track to break yet another record.

After years of speculation surrounding his future, Harry Kane finally took the plunge and left Tottenham after almost two decades in North London.

Although many expected him to do well at Bayern Munich, the 30-year-old has shattered all expectations, scoring 21 goals in just 16 games.

Kane has already shattered last year’s ‘Golden Boot’ winner’s record and is on track to break another but this time off the pitch.

No Bayern player has ever sold more than 100,000 jerseys in a single season, according to Kicker, the club expects to break that record by Christmas.

20,000 of which were reportedly sold in the first weekend after Kane signed for the club, which was also a record at the time.

However, the 30-year-old will have his sights set on a much more coveted record.

With 17 goals in 11 games, Kane is on track to beat Robert Lewandowski’s single-season scoring record of 41.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, with the transfer news expert explaining that both the Blues and the player feel it would be for the best if he moved on this winter.

Chalobah has shown some value as a squad player for Chelsea in recent years, but it seems increasingly unlikely that he’s ever going to play regularly at Stamford Bridge, so he could do well to try a new challenge elsewhere at the next opportunity.

Still, Romano says that it’s not currently clear who could be in for the 24-year-old this January, with Bayern Munich not in talks anymore after targeting him towards the end of the summer.

Chelsea’s sale of Chalobah would also likely see them target a replacement in defence, though Romano doesn’t have any specific names to mention just yet, with that perhaps likely to become clearer later, once other deals have gone through.

“In terms of centre-backs, I expect Chelsea to sell Trevoh Chalobah, it seems 99% likely because he wants to play football,” Romano said.
