Arsenal could reportedly have reason to worry about the future of in-form youngster Charlie Patino as he supposedly starts to attract interest from AC Milan.

The 20-year-old midfielder has impressed on loan at Swansea City this season, and many Gunners fans will surely feel he has it in him to be the next prospect to make the step up from their academy into the first-team fold.

Still, a report from Calciomercato now states that Milan are interested in Patino, so it might be that there will be other opportunities for the youngster to make his senior breakthrough.

Arsenal have done well to promote homegrown talent like Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson in recent times, and Patino looks like another Hale End graduate with a big future in the game.

A number of English football clubs are in mourning today after the news that former Wales winger, Ronnie Rees, had died at the age of 79.

Rees’ professional career took in spells at Coventry City, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest, with three of his four former clubs paying tribute to him on social media.

Able to play on either wing, Rees, who was born in Ystradgynlais, won both the Third Division and Second Division titles whilst with the Sky Blues, for whom he ended up making more than 200 appearances.

Capped by his national team in the 60s and 70s, Rees stayed in the Midlands and continued his footballing journey at the Baggies before a three year spell at Forest.

He finished his career back in his homeland with Swansea, a club he joined in 1972 for a record fee. Playing for them over 100 times, he cemented his legacy at the Swans before brief spells at both Haverfordwest and Merthyr Town.

After his playing days were over, he took on various roles including an administrative one at Cardiff City and as a car worker at Ford’s in Swansea.

At the age of 51 he suffered a life changing stroke which gradually took away his ability to walk and talk and led to him spending his later years in Hengoed Court Care Home.

The entire summer transfer window for Leeds United has been one of tension and drama, and even in the final few hours that theme has continued.

Daniel Farke and 49ers Enterprises have overseen an incredibly volatile few months in terms of transfers but the good news for both manager and board is that it will soon be over.

Things should settle down significantly before likely ramping up again in January. That will at least give Farke a few months to ensure that his starting XIs remain consistent and positive results will hopefully follow.

One player that’s unlikely to be at the club beyond Friday night’s deadline is 19-year-old, Darko Gyabi.

According to Football Insider sources, the youngster was set to sign for Fleetwood Town, but fellow Championship side, Swansea City, are set to hijack the deal at the 11th hour.

The deal is expected to be a season-long loan, and it will afford the midfielder the opportunity to get some regular game time under his belt.

It’s not clear whether the Elland Road outfit will look for a late window replacement for the player, however, given there are just a few hours left in the window, that would seem to be highly unlikely.

Matt Grimes has been linked with a transfer to Leeds United this summer but it seems he has snubbed the Whites in favour of staying at Swansea City.

Remarkably, this is said to be because his family hate Elland Road following the midfielder’s loan spell there back in 2016/17.

Grimes didn’t have the best of time at Leeds back then, and social media posts emerged, seemingly from his mother, slamming Elland Road as a place with horrible fans.

Ahead of the new Premier League season, there has been confirmation that Newcastle have allowed one of their talented Englishmen to leave the club.

Eddie Howe will understand that he needs to be ruthless in some cases as the Magpies continue to progress, with any decision made solely for the benefit of the club and not necessarily personal against any player.

Some decisions will be easier to make than others, whilst some will be difficult but, ultimately, needed.

Harrison Ashby, who only signed for the club in January, isn’t going to get close to the first-team selection anytime soon, so it makes sense to move the player on.

Importantly, according to BBC Sport, his move to Swansea City for the entirety of the 2023/24 Championship season will allow the youngster to get the game time that his talent deserves, and may even hold him in better stead for a chance to integrate into the Magpies first-team for 2024/25.

The deal has been done quickly enough for the youngster to be available for selection for the Swans season opener against Birmingham City on Saturday.

From Newcastle’s point of view it’s a win-win situation, as it means the 21-year-old will get some competitive action in a physical league.

Should he do well and the Magpies decide against the player returning, Swansea would surely only be too delighted to get Ashby on a permanent deal further down the road.

Swansea City manager Russel Martin has emerged as a top contender to take the Leicester City job.

Brendan Rodgers who has had a decent stint with Leicester City was sacked last month after failing to improve their form that has seen them fighting relegation.

Dean Smith has taken over as interim manager until the end of the season as the club continues its search for a permanent manager ahead of the next season.

And according to a report in The Sun, The Foxes are considering appointing Swansea manager Russel Martin in case they get relegated to the Championship.

The report further states that Martin has one year left in his current contract with the Welsh club which will give Leicester the edge in their negotiations over his compensation fee.

Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay is set to stay at the club this window with Jurgen Klopp playing a key role in the decision. 

Ramsay signed for Liverpool during the summer transfer window but is yet to break into the first team on a regular basis. It’s never going to be easy when competing with Trent Alexander-Arnold, but even when the England international has been out of the team, Klopp has opted to use James Milner or Joe Gomez in this role.

TEAMtalk have confirmed that Championship clubs have shown an interest in signing Ramsay on loan, including Watford and Swansea, but it now appears that Klopp has decided that keeping Ramsay at the club will be best for his development.

Regular game time will be necessary for Ramsay to develop into the player Liverpool want him to be, so keeping him at the club doesn’t make an awful lot of sense.

However, Alexander-Arnold has struggled at times this season, so maybe Klopp is planning on utilising Ramsay more in the second-half of the season.

Ireland have doubled their lead over Armenia in Dublin as it looks like they will avoid UEFA Nations League relegation. 

The win makes sure that the Irish won’t get relegated to the C division and Swansea’s Michael Obafemi looks to have secured the three points.

The home side took the lead in the first half through a John Egan header and the second was a stunner from the Swansea star in the second.

Obafemi received a pass from Dara O’Shea before turning quickly and blasting the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the net, which can be seen below.
